Socket arrived for wartime 3/8 set. Thanks don!moved it in with the old toolchest I picked up and the 43? Or so service cart.
Here's some more pictures. The toolbox is full of SK, Craftsman, and None Better. There's also easy outs, Allen wrenches, and taps and dies. I found two Snap On 1/2 drive Allen heads in 1/2 and 5/8. I forgot about the S-K Wayne I just bought. I know have one 42470 from every era starting from 1950. No beaver tails though.

Dresser era. This would be post Wayne. Don't have exact dates but started in the 70s.Looking at this SK socket set, is this set complete?....or is it missing a couple things?
I tried researching the part number on the inside label (#60632) but really no luck since all that shows up are other SK sets with the same part number.
The part number on the 1/4" driver clearly shows #40954.
Have any idea more or less what year(s) this set was produced?
Thanks to all who post.![]()

Here are a few. The 1/2 is oddly 3/8 drive
I agree. I have never seen one as a Knurled base. Did we ever figure out why they didn't knurl just that size?I would be willing to bet that it started out 1/2” drive but has been abused until the opening is the next size down. All of my 3/8” drive Chrome Alloy sockets greatly resemble their S-K counterparts while all of the knurled sockets are 1/2” drive. The top three sockets in the second picture are marked Western Giant along with Chrome Alloy. The third picture adds in some 1/4” drive tools and the fourth adds in some 3/4” drive Chrome Alloy tools.

Does the chrome alloy marking also show up on wrenches as well or was it reserved for the sockets?I picked a few 3/4” drive Chrome Alloy tools up off of eBay back in March as the price was right. Now I just need to find some Brazil marked boxes.

There is some wrench marked so but I don't think they are the company just a forging technique. I have seen a fair amount of Tiger DBEs that should be from the same era.Does the chrome alloy marking also show up on wrenches as well or was it reserved for the sockets?

I have a SK catalog from 1940. This is the 4010 set from the catalog. The tool box is a little different, but the rest should be the same. $80 for the set in 1940.
