I never really took note of that, but mine sure do, or at least makes it quicker/easier. it may depend on drag, lube, condition?

I checked several S-K ratchets including my new NOS one and the drive side must be held on all of them to change direction. My New Britain and new Indestro ratchets must be held as well.

Right. The entire socket is chrome plated but only the polished area comes out shiny.
four.cycle sent me this very nice vintage S-K sliding tee. I have to decide which set to add it to.
Thanks, BK!

I added the new Sliding Tee to this 1/2”/1/4” drive set that doesn’t appear in any catalog that I’ve seen.

The box is ideally set up to hold both 1/2” drive and 1/4” drive tools based on the size of the trays. I just filled it with tools that made sense to me. I’ve added some extra large sockets as time has gone by.

It may be in a catalog that has yet to be discovered. There is kind of a gap between the 1943 Wartime catalog and catalog 649. There is another gap between 1950 and 1953. Usually S-K boxes are pretty logical in their layout.

Yes, those did clean up nice. Evaporust?

The chrome on the two left older series isn't as pristine, but hell - they've been used for decades!

They weren’t rusty so I didn’t dip them. Fine steel wool, hand wire bush and plenty of brake cleaner. I was particularly careful with the wartime cad plated socket. It seems like a lot of the spots were hardened old Permatex

Brake cleaner, eh? I'll have to try that. I tend to use odorless kerosene to keep solvent headaches manageable.

I’ve been using the O’Reilly branded brake cleaner since the CRC branded product is now pretty useless, in my opinion. It tends to remove paint, however, so use with caution.

I think that is a film storage box for old movie reels. The piece on the lid may be some sort of humidity control feature that had a felt wick or something. Cool box!

Certainly seems plausable. The question that leaps to my mind is--Why would S-K build and/or put their name on a box for this purpose? I don't think they're exactly known for their work in the film industry.

I recall Lugz finding another similar film reel box some time back.

Wow yes that was a thought of mine! Thanks for verifying guys! Any guess of the approximate date range? Wonder who was buying SK boxes to house the reel to reels back then?

New additions; 8 point 1/2" drive socket and a 3/8" drive ratchet. I believe its black phosphate/oxide? It was rusty but I just rubbed in some nice gun oil and lightly wiped it down. I definitely want to save the coating!

Nice wartime 3/8” drive ratchet with the early patent number. Not impossible to find but fairly rare. There was a seller on eBay a while back selling NOS knurled 8 point sockets. I bought a few.

Supplier always wants to put his name on EVERYTHING unless the buyer wants it left off.
Capitalism at work. Pretty common.

Your new widget company needs a nice case for your product.
'Hey look. This is a pretty well made case right here. Wonder who made it? Wonder if they could make something for our widgets?'

^ If this exchange is about 8mm movie reel boxes, they were for early home movies. S-K made tackle boxes, too. Almost certainly made by Brazil Stamping, I'd venture.
Got any pics of S-K branded tackle boxes? Can't say for sure if I've ever seen one. Came across a Kennedy tackle box in the last 3-4 years.
