ive had a 3ton arcan jack from costco for 5-6 years, its not the low profile one they hav now. it has not given me any trouble over those years. it has no problem lifting or holding up my 94bronco or my old f350. for the money i coudlnt be happeier
Let me be clear, Im not bashing the Arcan jacks. I dont work for Hein Werner, Milwaukee, Weaver or any other company that makes jacks here in the states. Im giving my opinion based on Real life sitsuation along with customers reviews. I have no idea what seals are used inside that jack, Im speculating that they are in fact Oring and after 6 years of use you are nearing the life expectancy and possibly you have already noticed some of the signs that the seals dont have as much "sealing power" as they used to, Whether its taking more pumps to lift a load or noticing extra oil on the pump shaft. Im glad your happy with your jack.
Hiball: I'm glad you checked in. This post was in large part directed to you.
As said in the initial post: Need something dependable and durable but do not need "shop" quality... What floor jack would be a step below the Hein Werner HW93652 3 ton SUV Service Jack for a weekend mechanic working on a '79 Bronco?
Don't want something "cheap" as safety is main concern but I don't need overkill either. Can you suggest something that has high value for the money without breaking the bank?
But, if you're adamant about the Hein Werner HW93652 - 3 ton SUV Service Jack, then I respect your opinion and will save the shekels to eventually buy it.
P.S. Thanks for your telephone time with me last week. Ended up buying Torin 6 ton Double-Locking Jack Stands
Dependable and Durable??? Lets dig into these 2 words a little deeper,
Dependable first.. Most of your import jacks are using a hydraulic system that has been around for around 40-50 years. Its a simple design that works very well, Where the problem lies is that these manufacturers have skimped on seals and they just dont give you the Durablility that you can get from the Major players. If you can deal with some minor rebuilding every 2-6 years and have a outlet for the required parts you can keep these machines in tip top working condition.
Durable Now.. There is no one in this forum who is gonna convince me that there Import, Oring sealed Hydraulic jack is just as good as the Major players. They weren't designed to last as long and they wont. Your not gonna get the longevity out of a Buna Oring as you would out of a Leather reiniforced Vee packing or a Poly U cup. Im not gonna argue with people, Its your money and you can spend it however you want. Im not saying that Im right and your Wrong im just giving you the facts. There are many things that play into a consumers decision making process and its just not the Quality of a product, and i fully understand this. This is why i created a Picture aided tutorial on how to rebuild your typical Import jack, I also field 100's of questions a week helping people solve there problems. The HW93652 is great jack, It has 70 years of bloodline with only minimal changes, I would also like to add the 93642 might be a great choice also as its a 2 ton jack and would be plenty enough for your bronco, You do sacrifice a inch or two of lifting height with the step down but still a quality product. I also recommend looking for a quality used jack that is rebuildable. All these options are viable, I do have a problem seeing people spend $200+ dollars on a Import jack when you can get into a 93642 for a few bucks more. I would rather see them invest in a $49 Harbor Freight 2 ton than go that route.
