Re: anyone seen these socket trays?

I like them! Look like they'd hold up better than the plastic ones.

The older I get, the less I'm willing to put up with having to fight to get a socket loose.

Issue with these is they don't fit thickwall impacts.

At those prices and USA made I'd buy them rather than making them.

Re: anyone seen these socket trays?

Wow I really with I saw this prior to buying all those Hansen trays. They need to advertise!

I think I still may order a 1/2" drive tray for my 12pts and a 3/8" tray for my hex sockets plus U-joints.

Re: anyone seen these socket trays?

Looking at them I wonder how it would hold all of your sockets in and out of the box? My hansons work great because I can grap a rack of them and throw them on my cart...unless these are magnetic I would think between taking a rack out of the box to the cart you might loss a few sockets..that would be ba pain. And yes I like the hanson ones with the sizes on them..but the hanson trays do not fit a lot of different sockets...where as these would...I will call them Monday moring and talk to them...if goes good I will just set up a dealer account. If they will hold in transfer....I am in and all of my new hansons are out the door...lol...err..well getting posted on GJ..

I don't think that would be too big of an issue. If those pegs are the size they should be it wouldn't allow the socket that much wiggle room (if any at all) and you would have to remove them by pulling straight up.

We will find out...just shot him an email...I love the idea myself..and if it is a go...all of my hansons are gone...I ordered some for my allens and only half of them fit on a hanson tray...I do not like the single bars that you bolt on your carts or box drawers..I like the fact you have both deep and shallow on one rack thus the hansons...but yes waste of space and will not fit all your sockets...really you swivel impacts are screwed..mine are still on the factory snappy stick..I would like to see if he can make the 1/2 ones larger or if I can mix and match...If it works out and I can be a dealer..I will order about 30 for myself and another 30 to 50 of them for my buddies just to get the ball rolling...should be a bit of a dealer discount I would hope

Damn, i should tell the guy i started the post here... try to finegal a free set for all the potential business drummed up ha ha.

But, I agree i think that no labels is a plus. And I rarely take my trays out of my box. With them being anonized, can you still spray them with a carb or brake clean without discoloration? That's one of the things I hate about the plastic ones. I usually wash the hansons or other plastics with diesel fluid then hit em with an air gun. The short pegs hopefully would fit swivels, allens and torx. That'd be a huge space saver.

From what I am reading, due to the anodizing actually being in the metal it would take something capable of etching the aluminum in order to remove the color. But please do some more research.

Re: anyone seen these socket trays?

First off I'd like to thank several of the members here for notifying me about this thread. Its cool to see our product getting some good reviews and attention. We are in the early stages of getting these out there, but so far the responses have been outstanding. We are working hard to get the website updated with more photos and information. But for now I will do my best to answer all of your questions and concerns, and maybe you guy and gals can help me answer a few that we have as well....
Issue with these is they don't fit thick wall impacts.
We currently have several sets of impact sockets on trays in our shop. I am curious as to what brands are not fitting on the trays? I am guessing the issue here is probably the high end sockets being much thicker than the import sockets. One advantage of having no labels engraved on the trays is the ability to move all the sockets over one pin to gain some radial clearance, as the pins have progressively larger spacing from left to right.
wow, those are bad ***! not even double the price of what hansen's cost, just wish they were engraved with what size goes where.
Engraving is one of our main requests so far (First being magnetizing). We currently don't as it is extremely hard to come up with a range of sizes that will work for everybody so there are no open spaces or sizes that are missed. Also the entire range of sockets can be moved either direction to gain some room on either end. Also left over pins can be used to hold a variety of other tools such as torx, u-joints, allens, extensions, etc.

We are working hard to get the website a little more updated. At that point we will try to hit the advertising a bit harder. For now we have had amazing success just from word of mouth advertising.

Moving the entire tray should be no problem. In fact the sockets stay put just fine with hardest of slams of the tool box drawers. The worst offenders are the 1/4" deep well sockets. They have a tendancy to tip a bit on the pin, but they are far from falling over or off. The trays can be held at well past a 45 deg angle with no tools falling off the pins.
We have been getting bombarded with requests for magnetic versions. We are working on it. I am not sure why the necessity for it however? The sockets never fall off or over in normal tool box use. I am assuming people are looking for all the sockets to stay put if the entire tray is tipped over while carrying it to a job site?

Carb clean and brake clean them all you want. They will still look brand new. Only chemicals with acid in them will fade the anodizing like oven cleaner, engine cleaner, etc.
just found what the wife is buying me for Christmas, and free shipping on the full set
Added to my Christmas wish list. :D
With out a doubt! We have sold a bunch already to wives and girlfriends!
I've bought some polished Deluxe bumper trim from him a while ago, nice work on those.
Thanks for purchase! I'm glad they worked out for you!
Don't hesitate to contact us with questions. We are alway open to positive criticism! We offer a full guarantee on them, so for what ever reason they don't work, just let us know and we will take care of you. Thanks! This looks like a great forum, we look forward to sticking around!

Re: anyone seen these socket trays?

any chance of more colors? make them in orange and green and some people here will fund your retirement

It's defiantly a possibility if there is a demand. I am curious as to why orange and green tho? We are working on some universal plates with out progressive pin spacing for torx, allen, extensions, etc. So we will be making them in a new color.

Are the pins adjustable?

I noticed some of the 1/2 have 12 pins and some have 18.

No they are not. We just split the 1/2" trays in half. They are designed to be used end to end. If we built them out of one plate the metric tray would be over 23" long. It makes them a bit more usable for the guys with smaller boxes.

I fellow MX guy I chat with has a set of these. He loves them and has zero issue with fitting larger sockets on them. I think they look sick!

Re: anyone seen these socket trays?

I would love to replace my Hansen trays with those but I'm not sure I want to know what it would cost for a pair of 1/4" drive trays, 6-3/8 drive metric trays and 4-1/2" drive trays.

Re: anyone seen these socket trays?

Mr. Westling,

I'm trying to figure out how you came up with a 28 peg 1/4 drive metric holder and a 26 peg 1/4 drive standard holder.

A 24 peg 1/4 drive metric holder and a 20 peg 1/4 drive standard holder would have been perfect for me and would have also matched the sizes in my Snap-on socket sets:

My 1/4 drive metric shallow and deep sizes:
5mm
5.5mm
6mm
7mm
8mm
9mm
10mm
11mm
12mm
13mm
14mm
15mm

My 1/4 drive standard shallow and deep sizes:
3/16
7/32
1/4
9/32
5/16
11/32
3/8
7/16
1/2
9/16

Ahhh, he was referring to the guys that love Snap-On Green or Orange handled tools.
And he is correct, make them as close to Snap-On's colors without getting a law suit on your hands, and you will get more orders than you know what to do with.
These guys are ********* color junkies. You could take green snot, paint it Snap On Orange and they'd buy it for a million bucks......

Re: anyone seen these socket trays?

These are my 3/8 drive sizes, so 24 peg holders in both
metric and standard would be perfect for these:

My 3/8 drive metric shallow and deep sizes:
8mm
9mm
10mm
11mm
12mm
13mm
14mm
15mm
16mm
17mm
18mm
19mm

My 3/8 drive standard shallow and deep sizes:
1/4
5/16
11/32
3/8
7/16
1/2
9/16
5/8
11/16
3/4
13/16
7/8

Orange and green are colors Snap on uses and are highly sought after, mainly because they look cool.

Maybe a short video or GIF animation would show your customers how stable the sockets actually are on the product. That may silence some about the magnets.

Re: anyone seen these socket trays?

I'm perfectly happy with blue for metric and red for standard. You might add another color for Torx sockets because they are neither metric or standard.

I see. I was not aware there was that much of a color bias in tools! It is something we will defiantly look into in the future.

We are working on some making some You Tube videos of this very thing. Keep an eye on the website!

Mr. Westling,

Thanks. This is a good example as to why we didn't engrave sizes on the plates. We found when designing them that there where so many different socket sets/sizes available that we could never make them work for everybody. So we decided to leave the sizes off them to give everybody a bit of room to play. Looks like you would have a few pins left over from your set which would be a great spot for extensions, swivels, etc.

We will take note of this tho and maybe look into changing some stuff in the future. Of course we have also been told some plates are shorts a few pins for some socket sets :willy_nil
