Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Every day I just dream about what I could have done in my garage because I don't have one yet. If I can get mom's house sold I'll recoup enough of my investment to finally build one, until then it's just a wishful thought process.

Cut some shingles into starter courses, cut some OSB into scraps for kindling next winter and swept up some saw dust.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Well, in the past week I have rebuilt the front end of my big Dodge truck, rebuilt a transmission for a 97 Nissan, tuned a mini bike.

Today we are working on shop building that has been storage for the last 40 years.

We have a dumpster, a burning pile, a scrap metal trailer, boxes for Goodwill stuff, tubs for garage sales stuff and 4 guys working and about 6 more helpers including a couple of ambitious nephews!

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Nothing as the weather here has been fantastic this last week mid 26/27C and not a cloud in the sky so I've been outside all week. I cleared out the one last standing section of the old corrugated tin 20 x 30 shed at the bottom of the garden, I shifted about 500 handmade roofing tiles onto a pallet, some scrap and shovelled a load of 20 year old pig **** out and found a concrete floor underneath! The plan is to repair the roof next weekend and get whats left of the rest stabilised until we can afford to rip it all down and rebuild it in a couple of years time. In the meantime that end is going to house my blacksmithing forge and gear and also to store the ride onmower and my smaller trailer. I also rotorvated seven new veg beds out of a grassed area, put up a fruit cage to protect the wifes soft fruit bushes, planted those (all with the wife and kids help) bushes, 2 x blackcurrants, 2 x redcurrants, 2 x goosberry, 16 raspberry canes and a loganberry. I ordered all the timber for the roof repairs next weekend and shifted it when it was delivered and bought a 10 foot tall scaffold tower on ebay and went and collected it.

Busy few days!

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

I had a couple of auto repair side jobs I completed over the 3 day weekend.

Here is the old front wheel bearing and race I removed from a 96 Suby Legacy using the Harbor Freight "clone" on the OTC Hubtamer. I used a hub puller to remove the hub; that was one tough hub to remove with a slide hammer. I had to add some additional weight to it using 2 old brake rotors to finally get it out:shocking:

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

No pics since it was dark when I finished up. We washed all 6 of the vehicles and the zero turn, I then waxed the Ranger, Lightning, and her Mustang. Polished out the headlights on my old Corolla and fixed the a/c filter that got sucked into the blower motor. Lubed up all of the ratchets with either Superlube or transmission fluid depending on whether I could take them apart. Knocked off a few wasp nest around the hot tub and the truck shed before they decided to get me. That pretty much sums up the weekend for us. Kinda drama free for a change.

Duplicate of my Gray Garage thread but after FINALLY welding these beams in place over the weekend, I painted today with Rustoleum Hammered silver. Rolled with $2 throw away foam roller.

I painted more things red today:
Electronic parts organizers
Old fridge
Wall cabinets

I'm on my second gallon of Rustoleum Safety Red.

Contemplating whether or not the blue lift needs to match the rest of the garage...

And a punch used to form the 4 corner radiuses...

Hey Robert,
Explain to the good watchers how you finished the corners in a "continuous" form. I would imagine you either tacked and ground it, or stretched it out and then cut it even around the corner.

Again, thanks for these - you not only do great work, but take good photo's too. You should really start a You Tube Channel!

Getting ready for siding on my 1920 garage. Not going to paint it again and yes it will match the house. Also replacing the driveway ( never realized how Expensive concrete is).

I installed a new set of brakes, levers, lines on my bicycle. No more squeaking. First time in 25 years I have done it. I also set them up motorcycle style, front brake on the right, back on the left.

No tacking or welding, just hammering. The process uses a hammer to form/force the metal around the punch, working in a similar fashion as tuck shrinking. I also used it (after the fact) on the 55 wagon tailgate to add a nice radius to the corners. I wasn't happy with how close the split between the flanges were to the corners, so this also helped to fix that. I took more pictures of the tailgate, so this may show it better.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Not today, but over the weekend i finished the steel work by concreting in the columns. This'll all get covered (eventually) with tile.

This is a duplicate post from my Gray Garage thread but in case you missed that here it is again. I kinda went overboard with the holes and I'm embarassed to admit the job ultimately took 28 (!!:eyecrazy:) 60lb bags of quikcrete.

1st Hole - Smaller, it took 11 bags of Quikcrete:

...and, "the big hole" took 17 bags!!:bounce:

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Got tired of digging for cans 4 deep on the steel stand up shelves so today I put together two small rattle can shelves so I can find everything when I need it. Use scrap I had laying around.
