maybe it is time for safety shield
I don't like them but I got 3- 4 1/2" grinders and got the shields on them
some times they do get in the way. I need a new face shield.

No shields on tools for me - I need to be able to use the tool to it's fullest advantage. But safety is important to me, so I wear safety glasses AND a face shield (plus heavy gloves!) whenever I use a tool that can endanger my well-being!

Hung my Reelcraft Reel. Special ordered black to match the cabinets. Looks nice but ordered it with 100ft of hose and they shipped it with only 75ft. I am sure they will take care of it but a PITA. Hope to get the lines run to it this weekend.

Started the drying out process, for some reason my outer wall allowed a lot of water to come in and flood one side of the shop over the past couple of days.

Nearly missed getting part of this in the face - it ricocheted off my face mask...

I bust one just like that too yesterday when cutting off the end links on my front swaybar. I love the ultra thin disks but even a hint of sideways pressure and the bust.

I've done it a few times. I do not use the guard either, but I always have the blade tilted away from my face just in case.

Today I whipped the drivers front wheel off the blazer, pressure washed all the **** off the suspension, wire wheelrd the upper arm, dried it out with a heat gun and brushed a coat of anti-rust primer on it. This came up on last years inspection as excessively rusty (an "Advise" not a fail) and the tester suggested banging a coat of paint over it would sort it out. Primer needs 24 hours to go off and then it'll get a couple of coats of smooth gloss black hammerite. Then I need to do the other side.

I think if we ever get a summer this year I'm going to get the whole thing up on stands as high as I can, pressure wash the snot out of the underside, scrape off all the flaking underseal and paint/reunderseal as required and also wax inside the chassis etc.

Canadian Tire quality? Those 10 packs have the thinest disks...

YES!! Exactly why I use them! I bought 10 x 10 packs a while back when I realized how nicely they cut: thin and fast (but they wear fast too!)

Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming....

Finally worked on the 240Z parts! I really want to get it back on it's feet (wheels) so I can get it off the rotisserie.

Went out to do do some wood work. My son cried when I went to go. I took him out but was just too cold for him. So warmed it up a little an then shut everything off. Maybe on my next days off it will be a little warmer

Experimenting with steam bending wood for a project I'm working on. Had to make the hoop on 2 pieces. I don't think I'm getting enough heat to top of my pipe I'm using for steam chamber. Also using sift wood, I read hard woods take to bending better. Circle is not perfect but will work fine for what I'm doing.

Today-
-Re stained the reloading bench. Going to varnish it soon.
-My 3/4" socket set's blow molded case died some time back. The kids got me a simple metal toolbox from TSC for Christmas. I bought some 1" L angle and welded in dividers for the sockets in the bottom.
-Cleaned

Here at long last is GJ Member Larry's 2-tone custom fuse box cover for his Cobra with custom billet GT emblems. One is in Flame Red to match the red on the fuse box cover (along with Ink Black) and the other is in a candy, Lollypop Red, as an accent for the interior.

The mock up ...

... and this is just because I liked the lighting and thought it was a cool picture (if I do say so myself) :D

I hope you're happy with the work Larry! I want to publicly apologize for the delay in getting it to you too -- things have been absolutely crazy around here the last few months. I surely appreciate your patience and most especially your confidence in my abilities. < curtsey > I'd love to see them installed!

The prep's already underway for the next one, a custom 5-color pair of Ford Racing valve covers. Between these Cobra emblems and fuse box, some suspension / steering stuff for a local guy with a '66 Mustang and the next one in line, it's Ford Week around here.

Shop Remodel 90 by Bib Overalls, on Flickr

Today I placed the Burr King 760 and the 12" pedistal grinder/buffer in their final position within the shop and secured them to the concrete with Red Head fasteners. The red cabinet on the left will hold abrasive and buffing supplies.

Pleased with the layout. The machines take up about 10 feet of wall space. I could have pulled them tighter together but that would have reduced access and the ability to maneuver large work pieces.

Finished loading up my brand new tool trolley/chest that I got for a bargain (thanks for your mistake Repco).

Seeing I haven't got many tools, I won't need a new one for a long time. Only has a 70KG weight limit though.

Built a portable flagpole for my Scout group (I'm Group QM) two old wooden tent poles, some guyropes, a pulley, a cleat and some thin cord. Testing it out on Monday as we are having our Beaver meeting outside with a short night hike for one of their badges. Gonan do flag break and their opening ceremony outdoors for the first time.

This morning I swapped the top two drawers in my toolbox. By moving the taller top drawer down a spot I can now utilize the taller drawer for my sockets. Being a paraplegic, I wasn't able to easily see into the top drawer from my wheelchair. I've be meaning to do this for a while and finally did it.

I should have done this years ago.

While I had the garage warmed up I decided to lay down a fresh coat of wax on my truck.

Rshadd....great looking space you have there. What size is it, and is the deep side, two cars deep?

Whatever, I like it.

Built a new exhaust for my buddy's classic Mini P'up, the original was poorly done and leaked at the head pipe connection. We installed a SS flex section, removed the center cherry bomb and replaced it with a straight pipe.....haven't heard yet whether he likes the sound, but if it's too obnoxious we'll put a smaller cherry bomb back in the middle......it still has the muffler at the rear, but he wanted a little more "sound".
