Mrs and the Pet Kid wanted to go to the archery range this evening.

I repaired a few arrows before we left out. Realized after I got there that I really need to fletch up another dozen, my current arrows are looking pretty shabby.

My wife and I had a baby girl 4 weeks ago and spent my last 2 weeks working o n the house and trying to clean out my garage to get all other projects done. I still have plenty of organizing to do, but I can now park both cars in the winter when the time comes.
Before

Purchased a shed to unload the unnecessary stuff.

Finished a new work table.

And then I built a rolling table for some other tools

Then took apart my radial arm saw to get the $100 credit.

That concluded my day today.

Got the second piston / connecting rod kit for my air compressor, which is using a Campbell Hausfeld compressor pump. About $70 in parts to replace both pistons, rods, wrist pins, gaskets, etc. A replacement pump with higher CFM is only about $200, so if this failed completely, I'd not be too terribly disappointed.

Ran up a tank of air to 150 psi and it was far quieter than I ever remember it being. Now I'm wondering if it had a slight rod knock when I first bought it and wasn't aware of how quiet it was supposed to be.

Picking up a parts car this weekend, so having the compressor ready for the plasma cutter will be very handy indeed.

Yesterday I got the Xframe of the trailer out from under the body (while it was still on jack stands) single handed. weight was not issue. maneuvering and resetting stands was the trick...

Today it was make room for the Xframe to get near the garage and two other trailers, and still park cars... Made the room; will move it tomorrow.

Also raked old leaves and did some yard cleanup.

I'll buy your RAS motor cradle machine screw for the rollers from you, PM me with what $ you want. I need the bolts and the rollers! Thanks.

About 2 years ago I bought a used Craftsman wood chipper/shredder for $20 because it didn't run. I brought it home and it sat in my garage for 2 years without me touching it. Well I finally got some time recently to work on it. I found it had old, nasty gas in it and the carb was all gunked up. Bought a new carb off Amazon for less than $12 and installed it. Last night I removed the gas tank, flushed it out, installed a new fuel line and breather tube, and put it all back together. I started it up and it runs great! I tried shipping some small branches, and it looks like the blades are dull, so I'll either replace them or try to sharpen them next.

Last night I finished up a 2009 Jeep JKUR that I was adding some accessories for a friend then after he came and picked it up cleaned up the shop and trimmed, edged and mowed lawns. Then as the sun was going down I went out and tweaked a few sprinkler heads as I have a couple of areas that were looking suspicious.

Dusted off the VW chassis to finally get working on it.
Need to get ride of surface rust before paint. Any suggestions.

Mostly flash rust from not getting it in primer it after sand blasting.

If you have had it sandblasted and just have surface rust a coat of POR-15 would work well. It needs either a layer of rust or a blasted rough surface to ensure proper adhesion and it sounds like you have both.

I was going to use the Master series stuff. Supposed to be more better than POR15. Just wasnt sure what levels of rust is exceptable for these types of coatings. Thanks Mike.

After dealing with a weak sided Grasshopper mower, I gave replacing the fluid and filters a try first. After dealing with the drain plug head being broken off, I decided to use my suction gun. About 45 minutes of sucking it out a little at a time, I got it replaced. While it probably needed it, it didnt do anything to help the weak side.

I decided to take a break, and went back and had a moment of enlightenment, I measured how far the lever on the hydro actually moved on the weak side and compared it to the strong side. The strong side moved almost an 3/4 inch further. So after some linkage adjustment, this mower now not only goes in a straight line, it freaking flies! Instead of mowing at the speed of the weak side, I can now at the speed of the fast side.

I can't wait to mow in the morning.

Friday, I worked on my 1973 Power Wagon. Build new instrument cluster for it. Waiting on a few more parts from Amazon to finish.

My 1986 Square Body C20 came back from Ingenuity Fab and speed shop with new custom 700r4 behind my big block 502. Needed a few more tweaks, found a few vac leaks. Worked on that this morning and then installed new Evap for ice cold AC. Will make a hell of a daily [emoji41]

I spent two hours searching through the garage for a small bus fuse to replace a blown one in my audio amplifier. I was pretty sure I had one somewhere and really didn't want to run out to get a new one. I finally found one that was the right size and was delighted. Then I installed it and it immediately blew.

Dragged my wife's gardening stuff out of the garage then ran off on my ATV for a 60-70 km run. Came home and listened to the 'I hate gardening' speech (happens every year). So, I'll help her finish today and plant some flowers around the cottage, gazebo & garage.

Sorry ladies, I'm already spoken for.

Mixed up a batch of Deer Out to spray the lilies. Cleaned a little more. The garage has been a disastrous mess since the winter when I was feeling somewhat depressed and just let it go. Sometimes I feel a little overwhelmed when I start looking at getting it back to normal, but I find if I go in and just do a little at a time and walk away when I start thinking negatively that I'll never get it done, things move a long.

Nothing....

My wife asked me to help change the covers on the bed... I leaned forward an inch and my back went.. should stick to heavy stuff that never ever hurts.. just light stuff you don't get ready to lift messes me up. I need to start treating pillows like 100lb pieces of furniture then maybe I wouldn't hurt my back so much...

Lying on the sofa now with a belly full of drugs for the pain. reading GJ and wishing I was in the workshop. :(

ok off to freecycle and ebay for therapy...

Finished buffing all the LineX off the cage. First coat of paint applied on the undersides of all tubes. Gonna hit the big box store then a second coat before flipping it over to clean up some welds and paint the top sides of it all. 3 coats of semi gloss black before it goes into the truck to wait for seats etc to arrive.

Not as much as I planned!

Got sucked into the "we're going to paint the master bedroom this weekend!" project. I wasn't supposed to be involved, but.... Moving my stuff, moving furniture, Cutting in ("because you are good at it and it hurts us to use that big brush over our heads..."); two rounds of touch up this AM (very heavy texturing and of course she changed colors so if any is missed... (Lots of "canyons" in the texture, and even a thick roller won't get them all) then I painted the trim around the bead board wall... (More overhead painting...)

I did get a Craftsman jointer stand I bought yesterday disassembled for cleanup and painting. and am working on getting an Craftsman 6X18 lathe off the PO's "bench top" that is a **** chunk of ply that has seen better days...

My son is coming over so I'm hoping to get his help moving a couple of big awkward things...

Oil change on wife's car.

Found the metallic rattling sound in the left front - broken brake pad anti-rattle clip. Broken anti-rattle results in .... rattle.

Not much in the shop yesterday. My wife and I arrived home around noon yesterday from a weekend getaway with our local Jeep club. I washed the coach before parking it back in the RV bay then hung out with my wife, son and his girlfriend for the afternoon. Grilled some steaks and had a fantastic Father's Day.

It's been a dry spell for working in the garage. It's currently full of 9 tables of stuff for a garage sale. We held pass#1 at the sale Saturday to ABSOLUTELY no traffic. We sold about $150.00 of stuff and decided to try pass#2 this coming Saturday.

I grabbed a Husky 1750 electric pressure washer from the curb on a gamble during bulk pickup. Checked things over and it has a bad switch. Find parts for $3.25 with $6.50 shipping so I bought a backup in case.

Bypass the switch and it runs fine. Then the gun jams so it won't stop flowing while running. I'll take that apart and see if I can repair.

Cheers

Over the weekend, I hung out with the Pet Kid

We made a new rail for my blueprint table at the office. Got it cut, fitted, sanded and stained. (Installed it this morning, it works perfect, and no more plans trying to slide off my table!)

We began a project, gonna have to finish it later. She wants a portable grooming stand for her FFA project sheep. We got several pieces cut and dressed, ready to weld. Got a few more to cut, and then we will tack it all up, and make sure it’s gonna work like we want. Then finish welding and paint.

I finally changed out all my florescent lighting on my property to L.E.D. 4 foot lights.
Love these Feit LED light fixtures from Costco, very bright!
View media item 84150View media item 84151
So I gathered all my florescent fixtures and bulbs to use in my Mother-In-Laws garage.
They really aren't because she asked, she is happy with one dim 60W bulb switched to a wall switch and another 60W bulb on the garage opener.
She rarely goes in the garage for anything.
They're for us kids who are the ones going in the garage to get the decorations to put up, the lawn furniture to put out, or the tools in the tool chest.
We have a hard time seeing anything in there.
So, what better way to use those fixtures than on a property that we dont' want to invest in lighting but sure could some?!?
I was going thru the hand me down bulbs my father had, 18 in all.
I graded each one according to the tube end color and brightness and tested each one.
View media item 84126View media item 84127
I packaged up all the bulbs, in 4 packs, according to grade and staged the fixtures for a future install in my Mother-In-Laws garage.

Garage tetris by moving all the cabinets that were on the back wall over to the side wall and the ones from the side wall to the back wall. Shazam! Why didn't I think of that sooner.

Still searching for that perfect garage layout.

Didn't trust the original fuel hose (even if it was perfectly ok, replacements aren't available) so I upgraded to -6an fittings and braided hose and added a gauge to monitor easily. I didn't upgrade the fuel filter, because the highest power numbers I'll ever have don't even come close to maxing out the stock fuel flow on this 2g Eclipse.

Nice Pao, really kinda want one of them after reading Jason's adventures from Jalopnik.

I’ve been casually looking for about a year and found a guy in Florida who does a great job with them. We had already agreed on a price, but before he turned the car over to me he had the AC compressor rebuilt, had the fenders and side mirrors repainted, flushed the radiator and installed a new thermostat, thanged the oil and plugs, and a bunch or other things.

By the way, I really like Torch as well. I’ve interacted with him a few times and he’s a great guy.
