Details? Floor thickness and anchor type would be great. I've been thinking about doing this for years now.

Only have about 3" concrete, so had to use other methods besides floor anchor.

We anchored through the back wall, about 12" up from the bottom

I gave the end window its first coat of gloss black paint, it probably needs a second as the only undercoat I had was white so it shows through a little in places.

Updated the front strut mounting on my T-Bird,

When I originally built the T-Bird I used this setup.

Only problem was I ran out of adjustment and I have very little up travel of the strut. Tried a couple of different variations of the cup and brackets but could not get it where I wanted.

Decided this was the winter I would fix a lot of the little problems the car had and the strut mount was one of them.

So drew the front end setup in Solidworks and designed some brackets that held the top of the strut where I wanted it. Made up some holders to put the front wheel at ride height, some blocks under the frame to get it to ride height. Had laser cut and bent the brackets last weekend.
This is my new setup

Closeup of how I did the cup and bracket. I can change ride height by mounting this under or on top of the frame bracket. Or take another cup and weld a flange at a different point on the cup. Not an easy way to adjust ride height and travel but easy enough to do when the car is together in the spring.

All welded up, just need to add a gusset and paint it.

The local blockbuster was going out of business and I saw some metal office type cabinets. I talked them down to $25 and came away with two really beat up cabinets. There were enough parts to pound straight and make one good cabinet.

I cleaned it all up, straightened what I could. Then the wife and I hit the cabinet with Rustoleum sunrise red. The shelves sprayed el-cheapo flat black and the doors got chalkboard paint just for fun.

Nice job on the cabinet. Just goes to show ya, ya don't need the most expensive cabinets made to get some good storage.

I built a wall mount for the drafting light I bought to go above my drill press and future disc sander/grinder station. I got tired of all the shadows from the overhead florescent.

I made it from scrap 18ga material I had lying around and a sleeve from a shock bushing that I found in misc the bolt bin.
Next up is to clean up the power cord and get the cart built for the grinder.

The most important step to getting started on my garage! Shipped all of the girl's holiday decorations to the storage unit. Cleaned up a lot of space.

Cleaned up and put away the tools I used 2 days ago to replace the drivers side hub actuator on my wife's F-150 FX4 and cleaned up / degreased the floor from that job.

I know should have done it when I finished the repair but I finished the repair 30 miutes before time to go to work and never had the chance to do it yesterday before work... Got to love rotating shift work...

Mounted my 75,000 BTU Mr Heater to the ceiling. Went much better than expected. Two full size guys (myself and my dad) made no issue of lifting it up there for the wife to put one screw in each side. Pictures and new thread of the install will be coming soon.

The whole house came furnished. The owner passed away and her nephew was selling the whole place furnished. It's a time machine. Everything from the 70's, and they all have the owners manuals.

Anybody remember these?

Prep'd for my 1st sectional garage door installation coming in a couple weeks.

Had some termite damage to cut out/replace 2x4 framing. While at it I relocated the garage light switch, drilled the top plate to get it IN the wall instead of ON it. Facing studs with 1/2" OSB - only because I happen to have four full sheets left from another project. WE'll see how it looks once I skim coat it with dry wall mud, prime and paint.

Holy ****, I remember my dad bringing that exact same calculator model back from a stint nuking bits of Nevada in the summer of '76, I have a feeling he still has it and it still works. I'd never seen a pocket calculator before then. I also remember trying to spell out rude words on it using the letters! (well rude for a 10 year old, like 80085!) People collect those now so it may well have some value.

Ran wire to fourteen duplex outlets, two three way switches and a switchable outlet. Having trouble finding time to set up and load pictures to a photobucket account so that I can show some updates in my garage build.

Ive started doing my own Powder Coat so i bought this wall oven so I needed an enclosure for the oven as well as work surface for my bead blaster, welder, and garage fridge. The end result is this moveable cabinet that meets all my requirements. Its not pretty and its a little off but it works very well. This is what I did in my garage today. The third pic is what i've been Powder Coating lately.

Ripped the bushes outside the windows to let more light in and prepare to replace the leaky plastic with glass or flat plastic.

Moved the bushes to the front yard.

looking forward to more light and little bit of a view out.

YEARS ago I tore out the very termite damaged window from my garage and never replaced it! (It's SoCal).

Inside walls were covered w/ 1/8" hardboard, once removed MORE damage (natch!). I cut out everything damaged and left the good cause the stucco is attached to it so I "sistered" the new pressure treated studs to the old. Admittedly, the framing looks weird, cause it IS!

Since I had it, I used 1/2" OSB leftover from the temporary fence the insurance co. put up when our block wall blew over in Dec. Hey, it was free!

I found a FREE (Yippee) 3ox3o dual paned vinyl window on Craigslist w/ one of the dual panes broken. A $75 quote at my local glass shop made me just trim the shards & have the shop grind them smooth ($15)

I trimmed out the window old style w/ a sill but used left over 1x's & thick plywood I had around. A little moulding left to do and painting of course.

Why is it FREE stuff and FOUND stuff better than almost anything? lol.

This morning on the way to work I found an abandoned old style bed headboard by the side of the road w/ a tall narrow cabinet on each side & a "bridge" connecting the two for an overhead light. The doors are just frames - I'll put glass in them - but they had an expanded decorative metal in them. The finish is still nice but I'll paint it to match my garage and put it above my work bench for storage of spray cans, chemicals, etc.
