I like the old fashioned look of those cabinets, very nice workmanship BTW, but did you find them to be kind of a pain cleaning underneath of them? I don't think I would like them for that reason.

In my garage, I have built everything so the benches are off of the floor, meaning no legs. I used 45º legs back to the wall for support. That way I can hose out the garage or take the leafblower to the garage without dirt underneath everything.

Those look like kitchen cabinets to me dude. Have some coffee and take another look.

I know they are kitchen cabinets, that's whay I was asking the question. Then he stated he was going to build some garage cabinets, hence my other remark.

Not really garage storage, but kitchen storage... I built all of my own kitchen cabinets
and counter tops in my old house. I flush mounted everything, and it was very, very
time consuming. I think when I do it again for the garage, I definitely won't go this route.
The doors have to be perfect to fit the holes, and cutting in the hinges was horrible!!

Yeah.. Wife wanted them up off of the floor, all the way back to the wall. So the
rear section of the cabinets were sitting on the 4" base board, with all of the feet,
custom cut, to make them sit level. Which worked for a while, til the house moved
(pier and beam). Then some of them would get a small gap under the front feet. She
had every intention of cleaning under them regularly, but they normally became a
place to hide dust bunnies and the random dog toy. It wasn't odd to walk into the
kitchen and see the dog's rear hanging half way out from under the cabinets, while
she was trying to get her toy. My wife was really focused on the retro look, and make
the cabinets look like they really fit the 1930 era. I got all of the stainless for the
the edging for free from a sheet metal place. It was their scrap..

In the window seat section of our kitchen, we actually had locker type drawers in
there. They were a favorite of ours, so when we sold the house, we tore apart
the cabinet and removed them. Then I made the doors to cover the area. You
can see them in this shot under the window.

My brother-in-law used those premade tall kitchen type cabinets and to provide for hosing/blowing out under them came up with (what I think) is an ingenious idea. He set the rear of the cabinet on the "curb" that the garage perimeter footing forms and on the front of the cabinet he mounted galvanized floor flanges (see photo) with a 3/4" galvanized pipe ****** & cap as legs. Those cannot rust and the threads provdes enough adjustability to level the cabinets.

Later, he modified his setup to add a 2x8 to the lower part of the wall for the cabinet to sit on and longer legs up front to store rollout drawers under those cabinets. Works great and you can still hose/blow out the garage without fear of rusting metal legs or rotting some kind of wooden legs.

Crappy cell phone pictures, sorry.

Repurposed cabinets of various kinds - ok, ok, I'm cheap but they're organized and at least presentably clean.

The lower one is a Costco bin organizer I didn't end up liking because it let everything in it get too dusty and dirty so I screwed on plywood panels.

Jack Olsen-esque latex house paint. In my case I combined a bunch of leftover colors I had to get a 5 gallon can of a color I thought looked ok & old school-ish (my house is 80 years old).

This "cabinet" is actually a solid but ugly set of shelves the previous owner built of scraps in like 1959! They worked, so I just "faced framed" them and after this picture was taken I made two giant doors hinged with 4 interior door type hinges on each door (1" thick plywood I got cheap). i had intended to paint the interior of these in white to brighten and clean up the appearence but now it's looking like I'll be tearing them out and part of the wall behind them to make room for my boat (DOH!) in my garage. Again, too cheap to pay for storage for it...and Jetski's...and Lance camper.

Other cabinets are cheap, thin office metal storage cabinets. I WISH I had the big dough for Stronghold cabinets but I don't. Maybe someday.

I had a section of thoes - picked them up in a Surplus Sale at a local Aerospace and Defense contractor - - They were handy, for organizing small parts - but in the garage everything got too much dust/moisture on it.

So I gave the section to my lawn service guys.

That stuff is very expensive when purchased new... As I recall each ben was over $18.00...

The cabinet to the Right - were originally Computer Tape Storage units with roll up fronts. They are very high quality, and the roll up fronts save a lot of space ... I have three of them... and wish I had bought more when they were available. At Surplus they were about $50.00 each..:lol_hitti

FWIW,

I built this a few years back because my roll around was getting too full. Now this is full and I may have to build something else

Thanks guys - I'm a bit **** about my tools. They get used a great deal and I like to keep them handy and not lose any. My Dad taught me that the day is not done until the tools are clean and back in place. I guess I'm becoming my Dad :)

I have wanted to really make a full functioning garage since I bought my house 6 years ago. I have two, two car garages and the wife got the Premier garage cabinets for her garage in year two. I held out to do mine right. (not that premier isn't right, but not like this!) I do a ton of mechanical work in my garage. I have done motor swaps, supercharger installs, turbo installs and even converted my car to a full road race car. Unfortunately what I have fought is organization. I needed more tool storage, parts storage and general storage so I called up Moduline.

I dealt with Paul Quigly and he really made the process easy. I had some minor damage to one cabinet and they made sure to get me the replacement parts at no charge to me in incredible time. I can't thank him enough for outstanding customer service. It is rare to deal with someone that does EXACTLY what they say or better in this day.

I needed bulk storage, heavy parts storage, tool storage, waste storage, small parts storage and lots of countertop space. Well check everything off the list, I have what I needed.

Nothing cleans a garage like a true storage solution.

I have the exact same cabinets, 11 of them to be exact. Can't wait to get my garage finished so I can get these puppies in there. The best part is they were FREE, old military wall lockers.

Nothing beats free. Kinda sad to see so many industrial storage cabinets free for the picking. Says something about the health of American manufacturing and the economy right now.

Dave,
I LOVE those cabinets! How about some dimensions? How deep are they and did you lay out what you intended to store in them beforehand or build them for a spot you had and THEN organize what you were going to put in them? Very nicely done.

Well there is about 25k in cabinets there.

That being said, it sure is a nice space.

Thanks to all that have liked and think I **** :)

I am very happy with the investment and have been out in the garage almost everyday and every weekend since the install. Wow what a difference it makes.

As for the price, the moduline part was around 23k with shipping to my garage. I had a lot of options like slide out shelves, multiple shelves, flooring for the cabinets etc... Not to mention the stainless counter top. All in all I believe I have a cabinet system that will last me years so the overall cost of ownership will all work out.

Thanks again

Yep, you **** F8L SNK!

Holy **** thats nice :drool::drool::drool:

F8L SNK I have to ask. Approximately what did that set you back? Awesome and functional. And this is just your hobby garage? Wow

F8L SNK...ahh, I'm speechless...other than say for us all..."You ****!"

F8L SNK you win, that cannot be topped there.

If you go to their web site its all listed...

But looking at what he has in the pictures... roughly $17,000 before shipping.
