Wall of Smell people. People who wear half a can of Axe body spray into a professional setting. People who smell really bad in general.
A lot of folks have spent much of the past two years staying a lot further away from people in general.

We worked 100% remotely for about 18 months, and when some of us decided to return to the office, getting used to the normal smells of ordinary, healthy, clean, lightly scented, nonsmoker humans was a bit of an adjustment. Everyone smells perfectly fine, it's just... I've never once noticed before, and it's a little weird. For example, people use different laundry detergent and fabric softeners. I can tell the difference now, but I don't want to...

Since lowering the barriers a bit, I've only encountered a few people who smell bad, but damn are they a lot more obnoxious now. Yeah, I'll leave this mask on a little longer...

You know, it's funny- I am driven crazy by nearly every sound. But wind chimes don't bother me much for some reason. And a couple of my neighbors have TONS of them, and it's just random bing BANG bong BLING all the time. I guess I'm thankful that I haven't decided to be driven nuts by it yet.
I apologize profusely if you now pay attention to the sounds and have a fresh source of irritation.

I've been a musician much of my life, so I'm a lot more automatically "tuned-in" to dissonance than most.

Another one.....people who advertise items online and leave out the most pertinent information, like listing a trailer and not giving the length/width or advertising outdoor a/c units and not giving the tonnage.

When people say tolerance when they mean clearance. Tolerance is the range of acceptable values for a given feature. Clearance is the distance between two objects. It comes up a lot when talking about how a wrench or socket fits better because it has tighter tolerance. No, it fits better because it has less clearance. They are able to sell tighter clearance tools without the risk of interference because they are made to tighter tolerances.

I will have to come back several times to list all of my pet peeves, but a few that come up more than others:

1. Improper use of Seen. As in "I just seen Bob at the grocery store".
2. When you pull up to an intersection and it is somebody else's turn, but they wave you to go and just cause confusion for everybody at the intersection. I have OCD, I already took stock in who was there and who is next to go, you are messing with my system. Or they wave you on when it was your turn anyway. I don't need your permission!
3. People who are turning onto a different road and allow a person in the road they are turning into to pull out first. They think they are being helpful but it just changes everybody's next move (again, OCD). This is especially annoying when they let a dump truck out in front of you so you now get to follow a rock throwing, slow moving vehicle for the next 20 miles.
4. People who feel they are doing the right thing by letting people into traffic. Sure if traffic isn't moving and there is a car waiting to get out, that is fine, but when there is one car in front of me and nobody behind me, you did not need to stop to let them out, they could've waited. I have a long enough drive and deal with enough slow people that I don't need you inviting more to the party.
5. Slang, jive, whatever it is called in general, especially if I have to read it. I don't even know how they type this stuff out in text message without getting constant spell check errors. To go out of your way to misspell words just blows my mind.

I will be back as I think of more. These are just the ones off the top of my head.

OK. here's some.

Singers who can't sing in tune, which includes a lot of professionals minus downstream signal processing.
Boom-chuck drummers
Arrangements where *everyone* plays *all the time*
Bass players with access to volume knobs
Woodwind players who use constant vibrato
People who tune to a tuning gizmo and lose pitch about 10 seconds later since they can't hear

Stores that show 16 of an item in stock online and 0 when you drive to the store to pick one of said item up.
Lowes! Have called them creeps for a variety of different items over the years... They claim to have "it"...never once ...have they! I don't care if its a 1/2" copper fitting or a box of screws (the diameter/length I need to finish the job)

One time? Ordered an item in at the Indiana, Pa. Lowes.

Two weeks later? Lowes calls. Says its in.

I drive to Indiana, Pa. (closest store, about 30min.)....

I get to Indiana Lowes. After about 45 minutes of back & forth with Customer Really DisService...."Oh! Sir! That item went to the DuBois store." Almost TWO HOURS the OTHER fool WAY!

Jack Wagons!

Waste of time.

GREEN POTATOES! I just bought a bag of Russet potatoes. I prefer not to peel them, because a lot of the nutrition is in the outer layers. As soon as I start to scrub them, I see that about half of the skin is GREEN. They must let them lie out in the sun or under uv lights for this to happen. YUK!

Wow, my local experiences couldn't be different. 5 or more Lowes within that 45 minute drive and never once have they shipped my order to the wrong one. (Knocks on wood.)

Hello, this is my first post and I hope it's not wrong to post to this thread first, haha. I can't resist because my pet peeve happened on this morning's commute:

If I leave 5 minutes late for work, I often get stuck behind a school bus on a two-lane, 50 mile an hour road. There are a number of bus stops and of course I don't really mind stopping for school bus but it does cost me 6 minutes or so on my commute.

But at one of the bus stops there are several children that get on and usually the parents are waiting with their cars. When the children board the bus at that stop, two of the parents run back and jump in their cars. As soon as the school bus turns off its flashing lights, they immediately turn right and go AHEAD of the school bus so they are not stuck behind the whole line of cars.

It's infuriating, especially since I've been waiting for over a minute (yes, I timed it) while THEIR kids board the bus. In my opinion they should wait for the line of cars to go by and then go last.

Am I just being a curmudgeon?

Or.......when someone goes through the trouble of listing something for sale (marketplace) and will not reply back no matter how many times you ask a question or how nice you are. Bought and sold literally several hundred items on craigslist (from low cost stuff to a tractor and 30ft camper) and very rarely ran into no replies or no shows. Its a very common occurrence on marketplace. Shame that folks abandoned Craigslist for such a $hitty platform

I don't even check craigslist any more. Restaurant equipment sellers have destroyed it by putting a million search terms in their ads and then listing the ads so many times you can't get past them. Craigslist doesn't do anything to keep it clean so it has become worthless.

That screwdrivers (most sets anyway) get longer in length as the tip sizes get larger....WTH? Just because it is a PH3 doesn't mean I'm all of a sudden further away.

(Yea, I know...I can usually order the better name brands separately in different lengths.)

People who keep their wallet in their front pocket. I know it’s weird to have a pet peeve over that but it drives me insane to see someone pulling a wallet out of their front pocket. They would not make pants with back pockets if it wasn’t meant to have your wallet in. I just want to say something to all those people. Plus it serves as a cushion so who would not want it in their back pocket? Also places that want you to take your hat off. It should not matter if I have a hat on or not I don’t want to take it off I’m wearing it for a reason.

I post these as I think of them lol.

some people can develop back problems by sitting unevenly. I've kept my wallet in my back pocket so long, it feels weird if don't sit on it.

Oh, the famous Costanza wallet........... 😁

i hate wind chimes, there is no purpose of them, I been caught duck taping my neighbors wind chimes
I got my parents one for Christmas a few years ago. Neighbor came over bitching about it day after Boxing Day……I promptly went out and got mom another on for her birthday two weeks later.

let’s just say I was the one known to idle my diesel up at all hours of the morning……didn’t take them long to sell their house when they started neighbour wars with me.

Push a patrol car for a decade or so, ******* 12lb of duty belt, in and out of the car a hundred and fifty times a shift....your wallet will find its way to the front pocket real, real quick. Not to mention the fact that its a lot harder to pickpocket a wallet in the front as opposed to the back pocket....

The hat deal is a respect issue....that's a you thing. As much as it bothers you to take your hat off, its a pet peeve for others when you don't. Grab burger and fries at a fast food joint? Sure, leave you ball cap on, no one cares. At a restaurant with a waitress? Walk into a church? Someone's home that you don't know intimately? Take the nasty thing off....just simple manners

Yesterday I received an offer of $20,000 for a motorhome I have listed at $49,000. I get a lot of that nonsense. Guess how many of those assholes I answer.

I have gotten a ton of good deals by making lowball offers. Typically you get ignored, every now and again you make someone angry....but once in a while you get lucky. Those times are worth it.

I will “low ball” if the item has been posted for a couple of months but only about 5-10 bucks.. in fact I have actually low balled my self if something has been listed for a while.. I had a scuba depth gauge listed for 100 bucks for almost a year when a guy finally hit me up for the 100 I sold it for 75.... my mom on the other hand sells stuff for stupid high prices then whines no one buys her stuff.. I asked her would you buy it for that. She said hell no but that’s what I want for it... women...!

That hat rule needs to go away. It was just somebody's pet peeve that somehow became a social rule along the way. I can see taking off your shoes when you walk into a house. But my hat? You really wanna see my "hat hair"? That's more disrespectful than the hat, for sure, lol.

I only wear a hat when my hair is jacked up and I wanna hide it.

PS- I'm sitting here, in my own house, with a hat on, lol.

You got to know how to read the room, but I have had pretty good luck making half price offers on fairly high priced items, up to and including vehicles. Again, it doesn't work all the time, or even most of the time....but it does work.

Pickpockets also prefer people keep their wallets in their back pockets!

Speaking of wallets, it annoys me when people wait until a cashier tells them their total before beginning to dig their wallet out of their pocket or purse. It's as if until that moment they weren't sure if they'd have to pay at all.

it's a western cultural thing and has been for several hundred years. additionally, if you are in the US military, you are required to wear a cover while outside in uniform. Inside, not so much.

5-10 bucks? that's not lowballing. lowballing is when you have an honest price set for the value, like $100, and someone offers less than $60. (note I said 'honest price'. )
I've been offered $800 for a suburban that I had priced at $2600 and were normally listed at $3500, and I had all the little junkyard goodies to go with it. that's slimeball lowballing there because they're too lazy to accept what the true value is.

There's nothing "slimeball" about it....it's fishing. It's dumb....but every now and then it works..

The simple way to handle it is to ignore it and move on..

when I have it posted for a lower price than average, noted the reason why, noted that I don't talk to lowballers, not in a hurry to sell, and yet they still persist after their lowball offer trying to tell me it's not worth my asking price, they're slime/ssholes. I always get my asking price, even if I have to wait a year. I don't deal with jackhole lowballers
