I want say a #3 Phillips screwdriver to match the comparable size flat blade I was warranting when I was 14. Once I was in the dealership at 16, some prybar sets stick out in my memory. Bought my first brand new SO tool box just before my 17 birthday, a kra4107.

I bought a Blue Point tire pressure gauge off the Snap On truck in 1997, when I was 18 and just started working at a dealer. I think it cost around $21.00 which was a chunk of change for me back then.

I can only narrow it down. It was either a Blue Point snap ring plier set from the Snap-on truck, or a kit to convert an empty R12 cylinder to an air tank off the MAC truck. Either way it would have been 1987. I still have and use both.

Snap on 80 tooth flex head ratchet 3/8 quick release no comfort handle. Still have it today along with multiple other ratchets and always go to that one.

A Blue-Point electric engraver to put my initials on my tools or as some people here claim - to ruin the value of the tools I use to make a living, lol.

Oh hell I can not remember what I ate yesterday let alone my first snap on tool that I bought. I think (mind you it was a long time ago) a set of sae wrenches either in the late 1970's or early in the 1980's.

Although as a teenager I lusted after two things girls and snap on tools but I think girls had the upper hand over the tools.

I can't remember anything from yesterday either, but stuff from the '70s and '80s I can remember no problem...

Late 1979, Snap-on 3/8 drive socket set, 3/8-7/8, 5 extensions, universal joint, ratchet and breaker bar. I don't recall what it cost, I paid for half and ran the rest on truck credit. I still have the tools, one socket and the ratchet were warrantied.

The driver was a grouchy old fart named Clark Anderson. Once we got to know each other, he really helped me a lot. He threw me some nice deals on new and used and helped me build the foundation of a quality tool set.

I got a 15/16's swivel socket from the Matco guy, it exploded on me THAT day. I was very upset.
The next day our old Mac dealer showed up and I purchased several snap ring pliers, pry bars and punches from him. I haven't really ever recovered from the terrible first impression that Matco left for me.

I do have to admit their boxes look sweet and I love the insane amounts of drawer configurations. If we ever get a matco dealer again that sticks around for longer than 2 months, I may have to consider the financing options on a box

Oh man I remember that day! I picked up a set of picks and a bluepoint dmm off the truck. I was 18 and just started working as a car audio installer at bestbuy. Sometimes I wonder if things would be different if I didn't take that job.

9/16 snap on combo wrench about 89 when I was 7. Think I paid around $12 for it. Used my gas pumping money.

Mine was a 4 piece snap on prybar set and ratcheting screwdriver. Still have the two longer prybars, never been warrantied. The smaller ones and screwdriver went with my cart that disappeared years ago.

striking pry bar set! it was just last month actually.

i love those pry bars. i broke a mastercraft prybar on a friday, exchanged it on the weekend and broke the new one on monday. when the snap on truck came around that friday i gave in and got the set of 4 bars. got a 1200k nitrokitty next, and a brake caliper tool on the way.

i mentioned to the truck dude that i wanted a 1/4 drive bosch cordless impact and naturally he tried selling me his snap on guns, which don't look nearly as nice as the little ps41.

Bought from a tool truck? Just curious and include price if you can remember. Mine was a Streamlight flashlight, Stinger DS LED . I payed Matco $140.00 and really had a hard time wrapping my mind around the fact I payed that much money for a flashlight. I still have it today, best flashlight ever.

first things i bought off the tool truck was a Mac 4 lb hammer for 50 bucks and from Matco a Stinger LED with the two batteries and piggyback charger for 200 bucks...

bought and lost a lot of **** since then, but still have those

The first tool i got off a truck was a Mac deadblow hammer in 1987. I bought something every time he showed but he took a diffrent job after about 2 years and no one took it over. I live in a very rual area and have only been on a truck 2 times after he quit. I still have the hammer but its falling apart.

Are regular joes even really welcome on the tool trucks? I saw a Matco truck stopped at the super shady car shop next to the pawn shop I like and almost considered walking over to see, but I figured they'd be jerks to a layperson. I find it hard to believe that they would buy any tool truck tools at such a shop, I routinely see them doing transmission work on SUVs supported by 4 floor jacks only out in their parking lot. My guess is their lift broke long ago and was never fixed. Also do they typically stop at industrial customers or pretty much just automotive? I work for a large equipment manufacturer and there's a plant on the same campus where I work. I'd think there might be some machinists or others who own their own tools in the plant.

My first purchases were Snap On Flank Drive Plus ratcheting wrenches 12mm and 14mm. That 14mm is my most used tool next to my ratchet. Then I just went downhill from there hahahahaha.

Don't need a tool truck. I have high-speed internet.;)

^^^This^^^

None. I never have purchased from a truck and likely never will. I have Amazon Prime and I can get things delivered same day if need be. Since I have a desk job now that's more than good enough.

I own one Snap On ratcheting screwdriver I purchased used and purchased a Snap On ratchet off eBay for my father as a gift. The ratchet is very nice and he likes it, but the screwdriver is overhyped for what it is.

The tool truck equivelent thread is the closest I'll ever get.

That's why they can't fix the lift, they're paying the truck. In all seriousness, most shops get a stop once in a while and if people buy they come back. A family member is a supervisor in a 1 million square foot food production facility, and no tool trucks visit. He says most of their maintenance guys tools are Craftsman or worse. Said it makes no sense for them to stop when they're all using Sears or Autoparts store brands or worse. Hard to sell a an FR80 for $110 when they're used to spending $9.99 at Walmart.

None of my tool truck tools actually came to me off the truck. I either bought it used, traded for it or was given it as a gift. First stepped onto a Snappy truck around 1983. I worked at a shop that specialized in exotic cars. Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, etc. I was still a college student and I was originally hired to clean and prep the cars but the Boss discovered I was pretty good with a wrench so I started working on the cars. The other mechanics hated that because I used hardware store tools while they all had boxes filled with shiny tools which they had financed. Even though I made less than any of the "real" mechanics, I usually had more cash in my pocket because by the time they had paid off all their Tool Truck obligations, they Didn't have much left. I learned a lot working in that place, particularly about not paying tooz much for tools.

For me it was the classic red Snap-on creeper on the metal frame. Had that one for 8 years until a ******* ran it over with a semi truck. Think at the time I paid 120-140$ for it.
