Who makes Napa hand tools? The ratchets look almost like Kobalts, but does anybody know for sure? They are made in USA

Strange. I work at napa and we have a US catalog that has a good selection of SK. Maybe they don't stock them but can order them? I dont know. up here we get ultra-pro. It's a mix of KD, lisle, and taiwan stuff.

NAPA also has a line of tools labeled "Evercraft." They are lifetime warranty, but made in Taiwan. Some of the pieces are pretty nice (sockets)... look to be Proto knock-offs. I have some of there sockets and crowsfeet. Not the greatest, but for the amount that I use them and for what I paid for them, they're better than nuttin'. One of these days I'll probably upgrade 'em...

I bought a set of those evercraft screwdrivers. Thought they were made here :/

Nevertheless, I think they are pretty good screwdrivers

If they're made by Danaher, they must be filled with gold. I paid $17 for a NAPA 3 inch 3/8 wobble extension last year. I was in a bind as nobody else in town had one and I needed it to change out the thermostat on my truck.

The same NAPA sells Blackhawk tools in addition to their own.

Isn't Blackhawk now made by Stanley?

Ok so danaher does supply napa as well as a lot of other brands but as far as their ratchets and breaker bars and some other misc tool they are actually machined from raw material in joplin mo.

Jee........this thread is so old, I haven't posted in it yet. :D

You really need to quit with the ancient post revival.

However, back to the topic at hand. With the demise of the K-D hand tool division and the moving of some KD hand tool designs under the Armstrong umbrella, I've noticed recently that the NAPA pro tool line is becoming nothing but, rebadged Gearwrench tools. There's nothing wrong with Gearwrench but, why pay more just for the Napa name? Of course, if Gearwrench isn't readily available in your area, Napa may be there for you. Oh yeah, and the new NAPA professional tools are either made in Taiwan or the PRC.

Ask for a better price on the tools. NAPA has a tiered pricing system based on sales volume and other factors.

If they won't just nicely give you a better price, enquire as to pricing under your employer's discount (assuming they have an account there).

I honestly haven't priced anything at NAPA recently, so I don't know if they're a decent deal even with a discount, but, rule of thumb, never pay sticker price there.

Our local NAPA stores carry just about every brand. when the monthly sales flyers come out you can get stuff on the cheap.

I asked about the maker of the NAPA long phillips driver, price about $40, and it was made in Germany.

Better/easier warranty service maybe?? Same reason folks pay a premium for Blue Point and the majority of Mac and Matco.

Sears will warranty GearWrench branded stuff, as long as they have it in open-stock. I managed to mung up reversible, and they replaced it, zero questions.

NAPA also carries a LOT of open-stock GearWrench, and will warranty it (according to the local store's assistant manager).

I was in Napa last month to get some sale items. While there I asked about their tool boards loaded with USA made tools and couldn't get a definite answer as far as who makes them. They did say the Evercraft line is made by Danaher. My one Napa store has nothing but Evercraft, the other one has a nice selection of USA made stuff hung on several tool boards.

I believe the US-made stuff is Danaher as well.

Here's a non-Evercraft NAPA ratchet:

http://www.napaonline.com/Search/Detail.aspx?R=NHTNGRS66_0006400677

That's the NAPA version of the Craftsman next-generation. Dunno if it's foriegn or domestic, but it's definitely Danaher.

I wouldn't be surprised to discover that Evercraft was being sourced by Danaher today, but I believe someone else was supplying it years ago.

I have the napa pro metric combos. They are exactly the same as the kd wrenches. They are very nice and USA.

never really looked at them much but my dad was really impressed with a long handle 1/2 in ratchet from napa. He works for the city and was using it to change cutter bars on the maintainers and snow plows. Just picture two 180lb guys pushing on it with their feet and it didn't break.

I just purchased a NAPA Torque-Mate circular saw at an estate sale today for $15. It was made by Baker Power Tool Co. out of Geneva, IL. According to the Trade Markia website the Torque-Mate brand was trade marked by NAPA in 1975 and cancelled in the early 80's. This particular saw has a serial number in the low 700's so I'm assuming it was made in 75 or 76. After roughly 35 years it still works great. With an all metal housing it's quite heavy, but it's only for occasional use. They just don't make 'em like this anymore.

Well, things change over the years, so I figured I'd ask my question in this thread.

Where do you reckon these extra long combos are made? The price suggests China, but if it was Taiwan, I'd buy a set for my brother.

Who is making the NAPA pro wrenches these days?

I'm not completely sure but I have looked at those in store and they are a dead wringer for gearwrench long combo's and the set I saw was Taiwan. They looked to be very nice wrenches and for that price I don't think you could go wrong

That wrench set is made in Taiwan. They are similiar to the Gearwrench nonratcheting wrenches in that they are shiney and have the modified open end. The NAPA wrenches have beams that are more square than Gearwrench.
They are trully great wrenches!!!
Cripe has set number 90933 which includes sizes 10, 11, 12,13, 14, 15, and 18mm in a rack for $10 plus shipping.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Napa-7PC-Fu...979?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a6fc147d3

The wrenches feature off corner boxed end engagement, modified open ends, great balance, and are nicely finished. NAPA sold the sets for $27.99 a couple of quarters ago as part of a real deal flyer special.
It a great set for working on GM vehicles.
