my garage is level with the basement in my house and about 75% of the walls are extensions of the foundation. sorry if this is a stupid question, but can i apply epoxy to these walls just like the floor? what do people typically do in this situation?

i'm in the planning stages of this project and just starting to learn about everything.

thanks for the help.

Epoxy would seem like drastic overkill on a wall. They sell concrete and masonry paint which would be much much much cheaper and last a good long while. I think the point of epoxy for floors is dealing with the amount of wear that a floor is put through. Walls don't go through that same wear and tear

Yes, the right formulation of epoxy will adhere to walls, and even to ceilings. In fact a lot of our epoxies are used to line tanks and other containment structures.

But... are you sure you need that level of coating on your walls? Most walls just don't see the type of traffic and punishment that the floors experience, and a couple of coats of good quality masonry paint most likely will do the trick.

However if you want to go Full Monty, here are couple of project with epoxied walls...

If your garage has concrete or block stem walls, it's simple enough to just coat those with epoxy while you're coating the rest of the floor anyway. But if the walls are over 12 or so inches, you may want to talk with your supplier first.

About ten years ago I used a water based epoxy paint to repaint an exercise room at a hotel. Awesome stuff on drywall; don't know why it wouldn't work on masonary!
