I got it for around $335 after tax. pretty good deal. Have no real need for the hammer though.

I'll take it. :bounce:
If I find a 25 percent off I'd definitely get one for home.

This is an awesome deal! Really, this is just as good as the deal many of us got in on back in December on the 1755 vises for $265.

http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=314089

One thing I will point out. Everyone needs to disassemble their vise and clean the shavings out. Unless Wilton has gotten on top of that then its pretty ugly inside and there will be some really nasty metal shavings that have the potential to damage your threads. See page 5 and 6 of the thread I linked.

I'm soooo tempted to get one of these for the house workshop now.

Question for some of the vice experts...

Is the base "bolt pattern" the same on a 1740 as it would be on this 1755?
Reason I ask is my welding table currently has a 1740 on it, holes are drilled & tapped...if the 1755 fits as is...I think an upgrade is on order..LOL

anybody know of any Canadian distributors that are carrying this combo? Shipping this across the border plus the exchange and duties would nearly double the price for me. Local guy that sells some Wilton stuff was selling the set with the mechanic's vise but didn't get the tradesman ones in.

Thank You Very Much MFA81..i'll measure it up tonight.

I'm thinking it WONT be the same, unless the base differences are on the upper ring portion...shows here the 1755 and 1765 uses the same base, the 1745 is different :( and and your template, it states "for 1755 and 1765"....if the 1745 were the same I'd think the template would show that...I'm just holding out hope my older 1740 is different..

I just dunno why MFG's don't use a Standard Bolt pattern for vise mounting.

I took the 3 screws out and turned the handle quite a bit. I did not see any metal. I did not turn the handle all the way and pulled out on it, but I think it looked fine.

Looking for updates. Any bad news about this vise? Any new deals? If not, I'm going to order from Coastal.

Amazon says shipping weight 58 lbs? That's on the light side for a 5.5" swivel base vise...

same thing from ups for my shipment 57.8 lbs, I have no complains though, but I'm a light user don't do any mechanical/metal work, used it mostly for my mountain bike related stuff so pretty light and for me should last forever

So my 75th Anniversary Wilton deal arrived today from latest Zoro sale. Good news is the vise is awesome. Based on some less than great luck in the past with similar heavy items from Zoro I was happy to see they at least double-boxed it. The bad news is even with that one of the feet and the jaws had barely broken through and ended up scuffed. It's a vise, that by itself no biggie.

Now the worst news is the Handle is bent about 1/4" or more from straight. Presumably from its own weight in the box. Royally *****. I'm gonna contact Wilton and hope like heck I can just get a new handle. Rather that then deal with shipping it back and hoping for better luck next time.

Sorry to bump an old thread but it is relevant as I'm about to order.

If I use a vise mainly for automotive work and gun related stuff, is it safe to say the special edition mechanic's vise (21500A) would be sufficient and I don't really need the tradesman's bullet edition (63200A)?

You should be sorry! You just cost me a bunch of money!

Seriously though, thanks for bumping this thread, I missed it the first time around. I've been wanting a USA made bullet vise for a long time. This looks like too good of a deal to pass up.

Anyone who got one have anything negative to say about it? Thanks!

I received mine on Tuesday. Unfortunately the jaws do not line up perfectly (chalking it up to character but I am disappointed) and I did not receive the drilling guide. I am happy to finally own a proper vise.
