Wright Tool posted this on their Facebook page yesterday and say they will be available in January.

Also put out this new video last week.

"We tell the bean counters, to go count beans." What a great video. Gave me chills. That should be a tv commercial.

So Proto has new 90t ratchet, SK has new pearhead ratchet, Wright has new style wrenches all released within a few days/week of each other. What will strike next?

I work on some old crusty stuff. I have found the Wright Grips won't go on many nuts that are deformed or otherwise a little nasty.

They fit nice and tight and I like them when I use them but I go to something else when the nut isn't in good shape.

It's a trade off I imagine.

Cool video. Wonder what improvements the new wrench has over the original.

So is the Wrightgrip 2.0 a long pattern wrench or something else?

I can't pry any info out of them, been trying to talk my way into a tour of their facility without much success yet. I work right down the road from the factory.

Wonder what changes were made to make version 2.0? That seems to be the million dollar question...

Hopefully longer and a smaller ring around the box end. The box end ring is on the thicker side of US made wrenches (if not the largest by a fraction of a MM).

I think March 2017 would be about (w)right for a Wright Tool Day at HJE. A Metric version of the Wright Tool 236 socket kit would be (w)right nice in addition to some Wright Grip 2's.

Good to see some social media presence from Wright again! Saw the video over on Twitter. I can't really think of anything I would want different from the Wrightgrips for the 2.0 unless maybe 2.0 is 2x length! I think a lot of people have wanted a long pattern set.

Hey guys, it's Ty at Wright. Mark sent a comment on our Facebook page about some questions over here on the GJ board. For now, all I can say is that the wrench lengths/body will stay the same, but we have made a change in the open end that makes it more efficient applying torque to a fastener. I'll update everyone here when we have firm release dates and technical specs!

Hmmmm.

I've stayed away from Wrightgrip due to possible damage to fasteners (On my resto work) wonder if this will solve that issue...

Ive spent a lot of time going in manufacturing plants of all sorts. Rare that you can enter with a camera unless it's necessary for your purpose there, and then long NDA's were signed. When phones started incorporating cameras, check phone at security was often the rule rather than the exception...

Anyway, very nice offer there Ty!

Sorry Mark, no cameras!

As long as you talk about the types of things that can and cannot be shown I would think it would be fine. Think about how Norm Abrahms used to start almost every episode of New Yankee Workshop visiting a mill or a plant or furniture restorer / some sort of place related to his project of the day.

For example:
It's OK to take a picture of our building with the Wright Tool sign out front. It's not OK to take a picture of the prototype and print for our new top secret tool. It is OK to take a picture of someone doing QA on a socket we have made for 30 years. It's not OK to take a picture of our customer database on an employee computer.

One of these days I've gotta make the pilgrimmage to Indianapolis to visit Trusty-Cook and I'm gonna try to get some sweet video of hammers being hot cast.

Film crew is VERY different, and trust me, there are strict controls on what can be filmed and final edit is approved or rejected by the plant. And I guarantee NDA's are signed

I will let Richard know that you want your arm hot-casted as well into a hammer shape.

Maybe it's just the lighting but is the wrench transitioning into an i-beam design on the right?

It took a long time for suppliers to exhaust their supply of non-WrightGrip wrench sets when they last transitioned. I hope Wright appends the set part numbers or offers them in some new form, like a wrench rack, so people know what they are getting this time around.

Hello Ty,

Thanks for joining us here. I have a set of wright grips (metric, satin). I do love the originals, that being said I would really appreciate a long pattern set, and I would personally be on board for long pattern double box as well.

I bought a set of long patterns from toptul but would've given you my business. My $0.02 is there are probably many in a similar boat or that passed entirely to get the long pattern flank drives etc.
