I got mine about a week ago. I am extremely disappointed with a few things but, none the less, I am overall satisfied. I am disgusted by the box I received. It is missing more paint than the pictures you have posted. It simply looks like an over spray type job. All my SO dealer can tell me are my expectations are to high and the best he can do for me is free touch up paint. I obviously expected that it would not come with the "advertised" SO lid sticker since you posted that you added it in another thread. The cart only has 2 swivel casters and is difficult to move around my tight spaced shop. It comes with all the liner for every drawer except the screwdriver/pry bar locking storage. I can not believe how flimsy the drawers feel by the way, And they usually get stuck half way out of the slides. This is the only box you can find like this on the market but snap-on obviously loves to cheap out when they can.

Actually the sheet metal on your ford is protected. Most of the automotive sheet metal is e-coated. Snap on boxes are not. It is bare metal that i had to apply a rust inhibitor on. I can show you pictures of unpainted and rusted boxes.
It was a simple case of false advertising. They claimed in 2008 that their boxes were painted over every square inch , and they still do. For the premium price that they charge , they can spare the extra 5 bucks in paint.
Excuse my reply, but you guys are INSANE. If i pay 5k for a freggin tool box, that thing better do some of the work FOR me and be PERFECT any where and EVERY where. For 5k im buying a damned nice vehicle, not some hunk of metal. Sorry, but if u let this slide, epic fail. Even spending 1k on a need craftsman box, it better be spotless and perfect with coating everywhere. :rant off:
Protected? Yes I have no doubt, but are you suggesting there is "No" coating or priming done to those snap on toolboxes prior to them being painted?
I'd be interested in some pictures showing rust..
We paint aircraft here at work and before I even spoke to my snap on driver i had 2 of the painters look at it. The owner ( been painting for 50 years ) said " if its coated , that's a new completely clear coating that I don't know about."
Any metal that is not found in its useful state naturally tries to return to its natural state when exposed to the elements. Iron to iron oxide , aluminum to aluminum oxide/buaxite. Unpainted = return to nature.
Its pretty obvious you don't turn a wrench for a living. A box is a safe for our tools. To the OP, I'm glad your dealer treated you like he did. Our old snap on guy was horrible.
I wonder if my New Ford truck is painted on the backside of the body panels?
Of course not...
I couldn't speak for YOUR new Ford truck, but of my old Ford F-250s, my Ford Explorer and my new Ford Crown Victoria (and the one it replaced) are all painted on covered body panels, backs of fenders, inside the doors under the trim panels, etc.
They're definitely not shiny clear-coat or anything, but they're certainly not bare metal, nor are they some clear protective finish over that bare metal. They're body color.
I wouldn't imagine that this is something unique to my Fords, or Ford in general.
I have yet to find bare metal on the body.
As a mechanic all I can say is ; if we have to explain it to you , you will never understand. You know what, you're absolutely right. But, in the same since a holy doesnt know what brand socket you're using, s tool tools don't know what brand the toll box they live in is. Saying a toll box is a safe for tools is absurd. A snap on box is just as easy to break in to as a stanley box. If i had the money to buy a 5k box, i wouldnt have to worry about the need to ave the box to begin with. Id pay someone else to do the work FOR me. I know a very well known guy that basically runs the garage he works in. His craftsman box is still holding in like day one, 15+ years later. Can he buy a snap on box? Oh ya, he could buy the freggin truck easy enough. But has the common sence NOT to. no offence to the op, but i think buying a snap on box for the price of a used vehicle is like buying gold plated **** paper, pretty and useless.
Now uve done it! I may live in ohio, but in sure no buckeye. I hate anything scalet and grey. Ill never understand as i see my friend using his 15 year old craftsman box with no complaints. I know if i did wrench 40 hours a week, i STILL wouldnt buy a snap on box. Remember Mr. BIG? 27k. Plus your a buckeye... Nuff said![]()
Everyone has their preference on brands. I would suggest that if you are unhappy with the box you received then simply try to work something out with your dealer to exchange/return it or obtain some credit/discount on the box or something else to smooth your tail feathers. If those options don't do anything for you then I guess I would consider another dealer or brand.

I suggest spell checking your posts before you make yourself look even dumber.
That's the best you can ad ttp this thread? Its a creaking phone, spelling is easy to mess up my mis pressing a letter. "I can take the time and make sure every last word is spelled just right,orIginates could just let be what will be. Which is a betters reflection of who I am" hapy? Didnt tink so. Lol
Lol... I think you just made it worse.
I dont buy snap on, im not perfect. Lol
Yes up in Algona Iowa. When I was a die setter at my last job working in the pressroom I worked for a guy who used to be a manager in their press and brake room up there. Ive heard lots of good and bad from him. He also had mentioned the Kobalt boxes are built there.
. We had to move our boxes from hoist to hoist and 20 or so guys had HF tool boxes that they brought from home. After just four months most of the HF boxes were battle damaged in some way. One guys whole side split right at the welds and all of his tools and drawers came out like a chrome filled pinata . Broken welds, rippled sheet metal, bowed drawer bottoms, seams that were opening up from corner to corner flexing , broken drawer rails, ect. Not good stuff. Everybody that had a truck box: no change. Unless they changed the construction of the HF boxes since last winter , its just not designed for every day professional use.

My SO guy worked on the district manager and i received a 600.00 credit off of my bill. But having an affliction , i turned right around and bought 600.00 worth of stuff..
It still doesn't make sense to me why these truck boxes cost so much. Lista's and Vidmar's don't cost nearly as much and I bet there is more raw material cost in them.It still doesn't make sense to me why these truck boxes cost so much. Because they are built good and supported for life by a driver/franchisee & company.
Lista/Vidmar, they ship to you and your on your own. IMO I feel the Truck boxes are priced ok and the Lista/Vidmar boxes are the ones overpriced for what your getting. Nevermind the resale value.
If I pay that kind of money for a cabinet (Lista), I for damn sure want something a little more heavy duty then plastic slides.
Right. I know those products are great and I'd love to bring Lista / Vidmar stuff into my realm of consideration....Let me know when their dealer will stop by my shop to discuss a trade in value of my existing box show me something in person.
Well...Vidmar cabinets can be had in MAC Red, Blue or Black from your local friendly MAC Tool guy.
I was gonna investigate it further with my MAC Guy, but I think a Macsimizer is more for me...
