We are only here 3 days. Then back home we taking camper with us. They have seasonal sights but we like going different places.
8 nights in the camper for this year. Down a few nights from a normal year but the 10 day boy scout trip took up what would have been family camping weekend. Would have 4 more nights labor day weekend but have a wedding In Denver Colorado that weekend

Had pancakes with home made maple syrup yesterday and today it a puggy pie breakfast morning some bread butter and pie filling blueberry or apple and cook over the fire till warm.

Tech Rescue Truck is housed at the Local Feed Mill in town at the moment. It used to be in the next town over. We are constantly trying to find a Home to keep the truck. All the Departments in the county don't have a spare Bay to house the truck or if they due they are a outlier department and not centrally located. So for now its in the Spray Shed at the feed mill since the feed mill built a nice fancy Spray Shed to house its Sprayer and then decide to not offer spraying services any more.
Tech Team president work's at the feed mill so was able to broker a deal to have the Tech Rescue Truck stored there.
The Truck is a old squad/rescue truck that came for a department the next town over its 20 plus years old but in pretty decent shape. Has storage for 5 tanks of SCBA Air which is what I was filling back up after the tanks had been Hydro Tested. It works for what we need it to for now for the county Tech Rescue Team.
Tech Team president work's at the feed mill so was able to broker a deal to have the Tech Rescue Truck stored there.

Ingenious place to store the truck. Guessing the local mill gets a little bit of rent for the storage, which is probably cheaper than regular rent. Sounds like a win all around.

Believe it or not, fire equipment has been housed in “Alternate” locations for a long time. If the community wants fire protection, these alternate sites will be offered. Whether it’s a barn or a tent l, it will happen.
A couple of stations near me were planning on a additional or substation for an area. Two examples near me were local Ford dealer provided a bay and a garden center business let the fire department build a lean-to on their property. Granted these two incidents were 50-60+ years ago. This would still be the case in a more “rural” area I would imagine like Sublime’s Tech Rescue Truck example.

This last weekend had my 74 John Deere 140 out for lawn mowing and mowed down my trail to the wood land for Wood hauling season is coming soon and I like have a mowed trail VS a trail threw the weeds. Just some Pics of my 140 out on the trail I thought it looked kinda neat.

The Tech Rescue team lives on fundraising money alone pretty much so there is no Money from Taxes or anything to fund the Tech Rescue stuff so we have been creative in where stuff is stored and such. We have the Truck with about 60% of the gear and equipment and then a 7x14 enclosed trailer that has the rest. Truck in 1 town the trailer in next town over. Truck and trailer got flipped in storage this summer. Trailer was at My Fire department and did double as the Back up Air trailer to go to fire to refill SCBA packs if needed now the Tech Truck has Bottles on it and is the Back up Air supply for the county if needed. The Fire Departments Squad also can refill Air SCBA bottles if needed as well and Has a Bunch of EMS Stuff for Rehab for longer Fire operations. So If Air is needed and EMS Rehad of Fire fighters on scene our squad goes. If you just need your SCBA bottles filled the Tech truck will go as then the Squad can stay in serivce as a front line Rescue Response truck for the Fire Departments. As in Most Departments most trucks have 1 to 3 differnet call types that they respond for and can due. That way if truck is down another truck can fill the function. More or less.

Yes I did mow the path and there is a tiller on the back. I can pin the tiller up so it only goes up/down 1/2 inch give or take then just take the drive belts off and wrap around the On/Off handle and then the belts are not getting a spun in wear spot. So the Tiller gives me weight on the rear tires so if I want to back up a hill I can due that makes some of the mowing easier as I can drive down hill into some iffy spots and know i can back up out of them if needed. Plus if I need to till up a trouble spot its 10 min to have tiller operational till my trouble spot and then back to mowing. Tiller on/off is like a 1 hour operation and some colorfull words most times as well. This seems to work. I can till if needed and still mow the grass all summer long. For Garden tilling I will take the mower deck off as it would hang up to much in the garden. Im thinking this fall will take the deck off and put the snow blower on this tractor and use for snow blowing if needed.
I hoping to find a good deal on any John Deere 140's and get to the point of each 140 only needs to due 1 thing but if they break I can swap the attachments over to another 140 if needed. that is kinda of the plan going foward. Just need to find some more 140's in my price range which right now is under $100 dollars in my play account.
I have a 140 in at the small engine shop with a blown motor and waiting to hear back from them on how much to get fixed.
which is really gonna put a hurting on my play fund account.

Xtremek, you look close you can make out the yellow of the mower deck threw the weeds.
I made 4 pass's on the trail, From Pic of the back of the 140 Offset Trail to the Right then this is going back offset Trail to the left, then Down the middle, All these with the deck High then back down the middle again with the deck lower. so down and back 2 times and nice trail is cut.
Just have to kinda know where the small stumps are in the trail if your cutting with the deck down as they stop you when hitting them. This is a ATV trail to the woodlands so its far far from being smooth or groomed. I only hit 1 stump out of the 5 as I knew to look for the other 4 but forgot number 5 which stop me right quick. Good thing this is a heavy duty old time mower and can take a little bit of abuse.

That's interesting to hear that departments over there are keeping their assets spread out. Over here, the all volunteer FD in my township (which was formed from the amalgamation of 3 smaller townships and a 4,000 population town) has only one fire station where all of the equipment is based out of, right in the middle of the town. They seem to have jumped on the "build one fancy big new firehall and close the smaller stations" bandwagon. I would think that would negatively impact response times, but a lot of other departments around here are doing the same thing.

The Fire Department Stuff is all in 1 building. The Tech Rescue is a county wide team with members of Fire/EMS/Police/Sheriff from any deparment in the county. Hence us Having gear in different spots so as to try and be able to get personal and gear to where we need to get started. If you call for Tech Rescue it might be 20-40 min till the whole team is onsite to get started. But when the first team members get there and with some gear they can get started till the rest shows up. It's most likley that a Fire/EMS/Police will already be on scene by the time Tech Resce can get there. There are 11 Fire departments in the County which each have there own station with trucks/gear etc. Distance between each station can range from 8 miles to 20 miles all depends upon where your at and where going. County is 30 miles wide from east to west and 40 miles from north to south Im on the department that is centrally located in the county. Also the city with the biggest population. Appx 5,000 people give or take next largest has 2,500 then maybe 1,200 down to 300 is the smallest.

If we have a Torando Warning go into effect the department takes the trucks and stages them from North to South and West of Town to provide Early Watch or if the station gets hits all the trucks are not in 1 place and not able to be used.

Picture of the Fire Station line up Well sort of. Engine 1 is sitting front row as we blew the fitting from the turbo to the intake housing on the Brush truck but we have 8 Trucks for the Fire Department. 2 Engines, 2 Tankers 2 Brush Trucks 1 squad and 1 Ladder. In the Pic is Ladder/Engine/Tanker

I spent a lot of years in a small town, I was a member of our volunteer fire and rescue dept. I was a paramedic/ fire fighter ll when I moved. You can invest a lifetime in doing that.
I wouldn't trade a bit of it, the best part was we got something like 6 or 7 dollars per call, paid all at one time, December 1st.

yep we get $7 per call have about 100 calls a year I make about 60 of those. Where I live now I'm 7 miles out from station so some of the night stuff I don't make it in for if we are only sending 3 trucks out the Door from Home I'm on truck 5 to 8.
So most of the Night CO alarms and Car wrecks where we send out 3 trucks I just stay home. I work 3 blocks from the Fire Station so I make all the day time stuff and the big night events. For my first ten years on the department I was in the top 3 to 5 on the call attendance where I worked 3 blocks from station and lived 7 blocks away.
We have 8 trucks in the station and its not very often that they all go out to a call.

When I get it setup the feed will be in trash cans or in plastic totes and be critter proof.
right now the feed is being stored in the back up my 78 Ford F150 in plastic totes to keep the critters out. But still the feed gets spilled and the critters seem to find that.
If feed is out in this little shed and the doorway is left open the chickens will find the feed and keep it clean up I would hope.
That is the plan going foward. I just need to get a spot by the pine trees clean up and this shed set up there. This was the feed will be closer to the Pigs as well. So wont have to haul the feed down to feed them can just walk it right from the shed to the Pig feeder.

The totes in the back of the truck so far have kept the Mice out. Time will tell on them I guess. I like the metal trash can's alot better though. Time will tell on the plastic totes we seem to have a bunch of them from various things so if the Mice chew threw them they will get tossed out and going foward will get replaced with the metal cans but have about 10 totes that I can use before I need to go and buy the metal can's.

I lived directly across the street from the main station.
I worked for the city and station #2 was in the same parking lot as the public works building I worked in, I could literally walk backwards and still be the first one in the building.
Sometimes I held back to let someone else get a chance to drive or I would just put the station in service and run the radio. I do miss it although I couldn't do it now.

I must be getting slower as I used to make first truck for Day calls and now its out the door most times before I get there. Though we have members who have EMS Radio's and if your on open scan you'll hear the dispatch go 10-6 paging Dodgeville Fire and you can get a 20-40 second jump before the Pager goes off. So now I'm starting out behind all those who have there EMS radio's and are on scan so they get a head start on us who just have pagers. I still make 1st truck about %50 during the day. I know back in the day I had a I was the secetary for 7 years and back then officers could carry a Radio and I could be at my truck in parking lot or 1 block on the road towards station before the tones would go off.

I ran the garage for public works so I had a radio with all the channels, so yes I heard dispatch tell PD that she was going to dispatch fire or EMS. The downside was they had access to me 24/7, I did quick fixes in my driveway all hours of the night! But I loved it I wouldn't trade a minute of it.
