Re: Yea Old Garage

been working along on a making a brick patio/work area outside where the Awing is next to the ATV shop.

The pic isn't the best but neither is my work quality on this job and its not much fun either but this way now I'll be motivated to get this done so I can move onto other things. seem like if I post up on how my projects are going then I feel more motivated to get them done so I can then say I've got that done.

Who else in that boat for getting things done cause you have a thread about it?

its been slow going way to many soccer games and practices that I have been going to.

and a Pic of the Work crew who was at the Lego Club and Got 1st place for there Medival times Creation made of lego blocks and people!

They was pretty excited and Like having the Lego trophy Cub next to the creation for this month at the library!

Re: Yea Old Garage

Sub: last time i checked you only had 2 sons and did you grow another one? looks like various methods of smiling so not sure they all got the joke you told. :dunno:

we all learned to lay bricks or tiles by doing it unless we were lucky enough to have a pro for a dad or relative help and teach you the first few times.

you'll learn that a little gravel or sand helps to level out the area first and a good tamping does get the un level areas to appear so you can correct them a bit before you place the bricks/tiles down. your job is much much better than the person's that didn't even try.

i'm not trying to get you to give yourself a pat on the back and just want you to not be so critical on yourself.

well done and yes posting pictures or telling about projects or wanting to lose weight does help so you are ACCOUNTABLE.

cheers (still lots of ICE TEA for this old guy)

Re: Yea Old Garage

drives only the 2 on the left are mine, the 3rd on the right is BFF with my oldest on the Far left and is a 4th or 5th cousin releation's Id have to sit down with my dad and due the family tree math.

He is also a boy scout with my oldest and stays at our house often enough he know's the routines and where the dish's are at in the kitchen.

for the bricks as long as these are close to level its good enough for me for now this is a set and go project and all the pavers are kinda different sizes some 24x24 some 18x18 some 16x16 and some 8x16 so makes for a heter skelter pattern and layout but this is for a working area and storage and will be better than just the dirt and weeds that was there before.

all the pavers have been Free CL finds and I'll be on the lookout for more to get this finished up.

I gonna due a outside work table out of the old Metal entry door as well.

just trying to make a back corner hidey hole a working area that can be messy or clean and the wife doesn't have to look at it unless she walks back there to take a look at things.

Re: Yea Old Garage

the Birthday girl and her guest seemed to enjoy the Monkey bars and I got the last stepper board put on just as the 3 vehicles pulled into the drive to drop off the party goer's

Also set up a Piñata for them to whack away at which was quite fun for all involved.

Re: Yea Old Garage

Sub: nice work on the monkey bars and i'm sure the boys will be climbing across the top of it sometime soon if they haven't already.

any story to the monkey bars cause looks like you had to build a base and the bars don't look like galvanized pipe and look commercial grade. did you get it from a school that was rebuilding their playground or do tell how it came to be? also can you take a few more close up pictures of the bars ends so i (we) can see how they are attached?

nice work and looks like the BOSS IS HAPPY!!

Re: Yea Old Garage

so its been a little while since I update but been working on a few things' none garage related but still working away on thing's.

Got this old outhouse free from CL and been revamping it into a Garden/Tool Holder shed for the wife.

the Old siding from the garage got turned around and put on back words to hide the old white paint and it gets a coat of the brown stain to match up with the House/garage and away we go.

Progress Pic of the siding going up on the outhouse.

found a patch from siding say's
Whatcom Falls Mill Co.

Bellingham Washington.

thought is was kinda cool so it got cut out and nail up inside the Outhouse.
for simple display.

Re: Yea Old Garage

those that have followed this thread from the start have seen pics of my ATV Trailer with built in bench for kid hauling and general transport of many many thing's.

well the old bench seat has taken the brunt of having boards stacked upon it and the back bench part was out starting to really lean back so I took it out and realigned it back to where it needed to be and then added a simple holding board to take the weight off the bench seat for when I transport long board on top of the trailer and also provides me a handy little work shelf on the trailer as well.

just enough clearance for the long boards to rest upon the holding shelf and the front of the trailer.

nothing super fancy of anything but just a simple thing to help keep the trailer seat for the kids to have and use and not take the abuse of all the things I seem to haul on it.

Re: Yea Old Garage

Sub: i was maybe 20 minutes from that mill in Bellingham, Wa last weekend. cool piece of history and not sure that mill is still in business.

i'll still remember running to the OUTHOUSE at the raspberry field when i was about 10 and picking berries for summer cash. i'd pick one eat two or maybe slow down that rate and eat one pick two by the end of an 8 hour shift. i must have ate a couple flats of berries and management didn't care cause they were paying us $.25 per flat to pick them (yep big money for certain, but a gallon of gas was $.20 so you do the math).

anyway i have to say that OUTHOUSE memory of mine will be a lot different than those your kids will have and i won't go into graphics or what it smelled like.

yours is COOL and nice work flipping the siding too.

are you moving it around the property with your ATV?

just curious it looks like you put a hood on top of your ATV door's roof. did you or do tell with better pictures?

cheers

Re: Yea Old Garage

Thanks Bob I was thinking of the down under house when working on this one every now and then.

some more finished Pics of the outhouse and its location next to the garden.

Drives I did indeed use the ATV log arch for pulling the outhouse around and to rotate it when working on the various sides to keep me in the shade on the side that I was currently fixing!

The side viewable from the House and kitchen porch got full length siding the other 2 side got partials with siding over top of the seems gives it the put together with scrap's look which it was but goes with the theme of the best facing side where you look at it the most!

door is the original siding of what the out house was made out of.

nice little color scheme. Roof is Metal with green and brown colors : )

Re: Yea Old Garage

so with the Garden Shed now done its on to other things to work on.

from before I added the Awing to the ATV work shop now doing some landscaping to give me a turning pad/area so I don't have to deal with a small hill side when coming around the building to get into the Doorway.

this is the work crew putting up a small rock wall to act as a retaining wall to be filled in with dirt to provide a turning area to get into the ATV work shop.

Had 2 extra kids over to help out!
My kids seemed to work just a little better with extra help and after wards I chased them around the yard with the ATV and when I caught one of the kids they got taken to the Garden Shed and locked inside until one of the other's was able to provide a jail break! Them seemed to think this was a great game!

Re: Yea Old Garage

more Pics of the Rock Wall project and a Old Elm Tree is doing the bulk of the retaining wall work here!

Ill have plenty of time to get rocks stacked up next to the elm tree before it rot's away on me. This may be a 10 year project but every trip I make to the woodland I can stop and pick up a rock or 2 to add to this wall in the upcoming years. I have 2 different Hill side trails that alway's have big rocks showing up that I can pick up and use for this.

first Pic is from the awing area looking down onto the turning pad and I still need to add more to the rock wall and add some more dirt for fill as well to get it to blend better but this is a start.

2nd Pic is from the down the hill looking sideways at the rock wall and the Awing Doorway is to the right and Yea Old Garage is lurking in the far back ground as well and the Kids' Lofted Play fort frame work is viewable as well.
A pic with many Irons in the fire so to speak from my perspective.

Re: Yea Old Garage

did some Pine Tree Clean up of the lower dead branches and the Kid help out and he proclaimed He was King of the Pines after climbing up on top of the Trailer full of pine Branches!

Had a fire with the pine branches and boy they sure like to crackle and Pop and send up a bunch of sparks!

Kids thought that was pretty cool as well!

Racing slicks on a saw table....COOL!!

glad you like the Racing slick's,

The wife looked at me funny when I saved those tires from the kids broken ATV. What are you gonna use those for?
I dunno but I'll find something down the line where they come in handy!

Boom 3.5 years later and now there the Racing Slicks on the Portable saw table!

Went Camping for the weekend. I thought ahead and took a small work project with me.

First Pic is of my workshop for the weekend the picnic table at the camp ground.

took apart 1 set of tire chains and added the cross bars to another set of tire chains to go from a 4 link set to a 2 link set. the 2 link set will provide better traction due to the fact that there is now more cross bars to grip on the ground to provide traction.

If I was at home I'd never take the time to due this as there's alway's something else to due it seems.

This was pretty easy and Heck I did it while drinking some New Glarus Spotted Cow. and "Drives" if you chime in you can razz me about the dew in the back ground as well.

2nd pic is the camp set for the night.

3rd pic is of the downed tree next to the camp sight that the kids decide to turn into there own play fort with secret entrance's and what not.

fun times had by all and I even got a small project done as well.

so those that follow along with me on this thread.

last weekend was camper weekend camping,

this weekend was Boy Scout in the tent camping which is a lot different than camper camping. the old cot and sleeping bag just don't have the comfort level.

Pic of the Boy Scout Camp setup and 1 of the tents.
for the Former Scouts Notice the Class A shirts piled up on the picnic table while the Scouts have some free time.

wasn't bad 2 night's at the camp ground and got some Merit Badge work done I got to teach/lead Knot tying, and also did First Aid and the 5 mile hike that seems like its part of every Boy Scout camp!

So get back from the Boy Scout Camping on Sunday at noon and am pretty tired and at low ambition levels due to 2 nights of tent camping. but temp is halfway decent outside and need to be productive on something.

Hmmm.

lets build a Stone boat! I need to move some big rocks for my Landscaping project in conjunction with the Awing project.

so get atv and trailer and get the supplies! some 2x4 and 1 2x6,

wheel out the Saw rig under the awing to keep in the shade and use the outside work table to fit and finish the stone boat.

Stone boat is 2'x3'

first pic is staging of the work flow,
Material on trailer then saw then fit and finish on work table.

2nd pic is middle son helping hammer down the nails on the stone boat.
Boy Scout son was in the house taking a nap! Its hard work being a scout and all I guess!

Stone boat is put together so now its off to get that rock I had found a previous ATV trip.

so using the ATV with the Loggin arch on the back.

its down to the woodland and where the big rock is.

roll rock onto stone boat is the first pic.

winching the rock and stone boat up onto the trailer in 2nd pic.

3rd Pic is the rock new resting spot which will help hold a Log in place to act as a retaining wall of sorts to be back filled with dirt for the Awing turning area for the ATV's in/out of there winter work shop.

that is all for now I'm short on time.

thanks for reading and viewing.

sublime out.
