Very end of part 2. The machinist learns how difficult the job actually turns out to be("kicked my ***"). Remember at the beginning of part 1, he is careful to explain his opinion of "car guys" and machinists ("they operate machines"...). More than a little hubris to be found there.

In the end, he fails completely to remove the fastener without damaging the manifold. We won't even mention doing this ON THE VEHICLE for flat rate.

Watch the two videos I linked, then in comparison watch the link below.

The difference is stark and especially when you consider Eric is drilling in the BLOCK of a customer's vehicle to do the same thing.

I don't really see any humble pie being served. I will say, I did not completely watch the videos just now, but I did completely watch them when they were first posted. Tom is a machinest and proud of it. Big deal. Did you happen to see the Wilton baby bullet he just finished building from scratch? That took tallent to make. I don't think you average mechanic "car guy" could build one just like it....... and I'm sure mechanics can do things that Tom can't. Again, big deal. We're talking about two different industries. I wouldn't expect machinists and mechanics to have the same tallents...... And that was a cylinder head Eric was drilling into, not a block.

I didn't review all of the posts to check if I'm going to post duplicates, but I'll list who I watch.

I subscribe to Ericthecarguy and kilmer mainly just for laughs. They're both hacks in my opinion. They're both experienced but they both do some stuff that makes me close the video sometimes.

Anyone can change parts but I like watching some good quality diagnosis vids as well. The best are motoyam82, southmainauto and dieseltechron if you like powerstrokes. Powerstrokehelp is also great for laughs but he does actually know what he's doing. Of course you can't leave out Ave for his crazy Canadian humor.

I don't think I saw anyone in here mention Grady Hillhouse's Practical Engineering channel. He's been making videos on stuff like "Why do Baseball bats break" or showing what a Yo-yo de-spin is in terms of space satellites.

He just did a video on the space elevator:
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/iAXGUQ_ewcg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

It's not shop/car related but I think some people would find it interesting.

AvE - Dude is the best. Tool companies hate him because he opens up their tools and tells you exactly what parts are used, what they do, and if the tool is chinsy or not. However his commentary is the icing in the cake....Keep on chooching the good chooch yall.

Is it just me or can anyone else not stand the Tools In Action guys?
Agreed! No homework before they just stumble around and talk about stuff the know nothing about! "Feels good in the hand!"

I LOVE AvE. So good.

Also, mark another down for South Main Auto and ScannerDanner.

Thank god someone mentioned AvE. he has some of the best/funniest tool reviews simply because he tears them apart and tells you the good, the bad, the cheap. Knows his stuff and isn't afraid to tell you that a $1000 circular saw is half ******** because he refuses to take on sponsors.

He also has a lot of machining videos. He's even machined a potato in to a nut and bolt

Jody's Welding Tips and Tricks is the only one I watch religiously. Whether you're a pro or have never touched a welding rod, they're fun to watch and I always learn something.

I don't think I saw this one listed yet:

Frank Howarth, kind of an arty-farty Norm Abrams.
