Hi, I’d like to see some ideas/pics of zip tie organization. Any bit hen ideas out there? Thanks in advance.

What's wrong with the bag they come in? I just buy 11" ones. Not worth keeping the short ones on hand when they aren't much cheaper.

I got a lot of 'em, thrown all in a plastic box (in the long plastic bags they came in). Not sorted, but when I need one, it's easy enough to pick one sort/length out.

My zip ties are mostly in the bags they came in, or in appropriate zip-locs, all standing on end in a medium plastic bucket.

Hmmm- I wonder if you could make long dividers to put them in one of those Harbor Freight organizers? I hate keeping them in bags. I invariably pick up the wrong end and they pour out. Of course, I have them from tiny 3" ones up to some 36" whoppers.

I have a tackle organizer I use for the smaller ones. The larger ones I keep in their bag.

A trick I found a while back (might have been here) is to cut a slit in the middle of the bag instead of opening the end. You can still get them out, but the rest are better contained and won't spill if you tip the bag wrong.

I sparingly keep various sizes on hand in original bags, but mostly use two sizes... Those, I use one cable tie around each size to keep them nicely bunched (easy to tighten as stock is depleted) and those bunches sit in a tall plastic cylinder (I think bungees came in that originally). Works nicely

This is what I use....

I can't leave them out at work, or they will disappear. It makes it easy to store in a drawer, and pull out when needed.

Also easy to "grab and go" for field service work.

small ones in peanut butter jars. larger/longer ones in suitable lengths of pvc pipe. All inserted in the same direction- head up. Pipes & jars vertical in a square (kitty litter) bucket. Makes them easy to select & stores better than a round bucket.

I use some scrap PVC, cut to length. I glued and mounted them on the wall for easy access. I also have a Plano box with some in a tray so if I need to take all my electrical stuff somewhere I've got some ties with me.

There’s a perfect example there’s an easy way and hard way to do a simple task/device.

And yet- neither one is portable. What some of us need is a way to haul the assortment with us. My shop and my house are 150' apart. My son's house is 600 miles away. I throw the bags of them in my electric kit bag, and of course, they eventually dump out and mix themselves with the other stuff in there. I used a HF organizer for my RBY connectors, and plan to modify one for zip ties. Organized, separated, and portable.

Anyone who drinks Folgers coffee has no shortage of storage containers. Tough enough for nuts and bolts. Will hold a huge number of zip ties. Work great for brining/marinading a duck or game hens. Good to clean paint brushes. Covers are cheap frisbees.. Mix a set of different sizes for a cheap set of kids bongos.

I like the Plano box idea. My 12" minus are in a clear plastic box. I zip tie my zip tie bundles together. The big ones I just hang the bag on the side of a shelf.

All of mine are still in the original bags they come in. I store them just like you see in the stores.
They are on my pegboard with the longer Zip Ties in the back, shorter in front.
They all fit on two of the longer pegboard hangers.
Easy to grab and go.

Same size as the flambeau, I use both since the size is standard, same in my own shop have a mix of metal & plastic.

all mine were "salvaged" from a service van we stripped. company was going to scrap all of them. i have 20-25 of them in the garage.

my service truck has 4 sets, 4 drawers each

zip loc baggies.

Large ones in 1-gallon bag
smaller ones in increasingly smaller baggies

All thrown into one large 2-gallon zip-loc.

That way I can grab the big bag with all of them, or if I know I just need one size, I can grab just the one smaller bag.

As bags get empty, I refill them.

If leaving in the bag they came in, open the bag in the middle with a slit going perpendicular to the ties (or cut out a little square). Doing that, they can not fall out if you pick it up by the wrong end! Flexible enough to grab one or multiple by grabbing them by the middle and pulling through the slit.

I've got some huge bags of them (like 1000 pieces) from a yard sale, not lugging that around! I take out a handful and tighten one around the handful. As I use them, I just pull that one tighter to keep them all together.

^^^ Smart and easy. What's better than that?
