Another well done documentary… This one is about a motorcycle parts and service operation in Old Philadelphia and while the story is interesting enough, focus on the shop itself – it’s an 800 square feet gem. Really great space.

Neat story. It reminds me of a guy just around the corner from my house, he runs a Saab repair shop out of a small building (and lives upstairs in the same place.) It's just a little hole in the wall one man operation, but he's built a reputation and all the Saab people come to him for work.

What a great little video. From psychology to motorcycles. Maybe he didn't realize at the time that psychology is a big part of customer service.

GREAT VIDEO! Instructive too. I agree with Craptain. Ths guy has touched on a form of customer service that doesn't exist today. We might have found something similar 50 or 100 years ago when life wasn't as hectic. I'm an old timer, but don't recall it much in the past. Maybe back then I was too young to realize it existed. :D

I love motorcycles and little shops that build, service, work and maintain them. Enjoyed this documentary, thanks for posting.

It is unfortunate that our schools push academics to the point that young people grow up with the impression that following a career path that they actually enjoy is somehow wrong. I am so jealous. This guy is genuinely happy and you will never see that in an office worker. Not in a million years. I would trade my keyboard for a wrench any day!

Roland is an acquaintance of mine and naturally hadn't said anything about this to his friends. I stumbled across this on the board here. It was a very true capture of the way he is!

I agree with you in a big way. This guy has found a niche market for something, has a passion for it and is his own boss, not many people can say that.

I know the guy who shot this. He does a great job of capturing peoples' stories. I'd have to say that this is one of his best!

sublime capture of the Spare Parts Company's longstanding karma . . ..
met Franz during the mid to late 80's at Herm Baver's Moto Morini
rallies in Port Clinton, PA. Franz was always in attendance with an eclectic
group of customers/friends on very unique bikes. easily in my mind's
eye the time Franz arrived on a beautifully restored Laverda Jota & the year
before was a phenomenal BMW airhead with my first ever view of a Heinrich
8.5gl gas tank on such a bike. Franz was always low keyed and easily
approachable & it would seem he has allowed his shop to flow into the
next proprietor exhibiting the same equanimity.
