MetMo Driver

No idea if these things are durable enough to be used in a real shop or even usable at all. But, you have to admire the aesthetic of an over-engineered driver designed with products of old in mind – namely, the Baumann-Weltrecord Driver. For the machinists out there, this would be a really fun product to make on your own… and for those without the tooling/skills, if nothing else… this is a pretty neat fidget toy. Details here.

QuickWinder

I have no idea how you guys live up North and deal with real winters. It’s madness. The weatherman here in Texas is predicting five straight days of below freezing temps and I’ve been spending most of my day preparing for it and dreading what is to come… Anyway, as I was getting my backup generator setup I went to grab an extension cord and remembered something that was sent in for review years ago – A QuickWinder by TSO Products. I never reviewed it as I never really understood the convenience. I work mostly from a shop environment and …

EDC Utility Blade… Again…

A few months back, I spoke about an EDC utility blade that I found and loved. You can read all about that here. A lot of people on knife forums claim that the “Exceed Designs” flipper is made in the US. I’ve found that while the Exceed Designs version might be assembled in the US, I believe it to be machined in China. In fact, I found the factory that I think is responsible for that machine work and bought the parts to build about twenty of them. Since then, I’ve been giving them away to buddies… Anyway, this weird …

The Milwaukee M18 Router

I’ve always used the classic Bosch Colt as my palm router of choice. I like it because of its power to weight ratio as well its user interface. It’s a simple motor with a collet and a platform that is easy to build jigs for. However, I left my Colt at the APO and needed a new palm router for the Atomic Lab. Why not try something different? Enter the M18 Milwaukee router… I bought this after my less than glowing experience with the M18 palm sander thinking that I owe Milwaukee a chance to redeem itself in my shop. …

Quickjack Sale

Got an email from Tyler over at Bendpak/Quickjack. They are holding a pretty significant sale on Quickjacks right now. Basically, it’s $250 off both models and free shipping. For the record, I actually have one of these – the BL-5000SLX to be exact. I use it at the racetrack as a sort of mobile lift. It fits in the back of my truck just fine, is light enough not to be too much of a burden and is incredibly handy to have when you are hunting brake issues or need to get under the car… for any reason really. And …
