I can tell you the artwork gave me a lot of help with both paint and how I wanted the finished look etc.

So the artwork helped you pick the colour :bounce::bounce::bounce::bounce::lol_hitti :lol_hitti :lol_hitti :FIREdevil

For those who dont' know, all of Simon's cars are painted the same colour :shocking::shocking: (I think he must have got a deal on a few 100 gallons of the stuff :lol_hitti)

Yeah ok, I'd like a dollar for every time I have heard that one. It did help me decide not to paint it the same as the 1966 XP Falcon & 1923 T Roadster and instead do the paint on the bonnet / hood the sames as the cab then the fenders / guards and running board all the same color.

You have to say when you have all vehicles parked together a Fleet color scheme looks good. Like this one >
12cr.jpg

Actualy I have one other vehicle going into the paint shop and it will be RED.
International 4x4 :lol_hitti Bucking the trend :lol_hitti

I must admit (your a trooper for taking all the flack we give you) but having a few cars that art so totally different (6 cyl Rod etc) but painting them the same colour just doesn't seem right to me, but hay, what ever turns your keys I spose.
Yahoo :lol_hitti finally a Red one :thumbup::bounce::bounce::bounce:

Another thread on here gave me the lead to that Mack. When you see that photo you can see a Fleet color scheme working. Yet to try my enclosed car trailer behind the F4 Freighter.

Gee, this thread takes some finding :headscrat:headscrat
It seems to be a major issue every time I want to add to it :mad:

Anyway,
Nothing has happened in the last 3 weeks (every time I alot some time, something crops up :(:(:()
I found a little time this arvo, so I have now started the cowl sides (well, one of them........... which was the worst)

Before:

11092010001.jpg

Part way through with the axe hole repaired & some of the dents partly done:

11092010002.jpg

Not that it shows, but I had to straighten the 'A' pillar at the same time, fix the door stop brackets, repair the hinge areas & start those little "pry" marks on the edge of the door jam.
Still have to metal finish it (this was just roughing out, so I'll throw the Shrinking Disc over it once I do the rust repairs below)
at least I've done something to it

errrrrrrrrrr didn't I just say that's what I did :headscrat:headscrat
That is not how I read it :( But then I am not about to make a fuss over it  :lol_hitti

(I would never have started it in "free parking" If I'd known that !)
I think you where a member here when Free Parking got canned and then re-instated. Since then search has never worked in Free Parking. I doubt Ryan will ever fix it but then does it matter  Any topic in Free Parking worth reading I have saved onto a favorites list on my computer.
That way I can prompt you for updates :lol_hitti on you Works Shop Truck

(like I should be now!.............but I'm doing bookwork instead :()
For once, I haven't gone into work on a Sunday :confused:
Might be time for a

maybe I shopuld just add another camera to the shop security & face it on the truck, that way you can see when something happens (like me scratching my **** :lol_hitti)

Oh!
While I was here doing some banking on line, I sort of have been working on the old girl.
Been looking at colours.

How about this one??
I'm looking for a Resto Rod look.
A mate has unforunately stole my thunder when he painted his 32 coupe a similar colour :wtf: (it was featured in a mag & took out top coupe at our nationals) but at least he lives interstate. I could not believe the colour he chose when he sent me a pic just after it was painted :(

Nice I think you need to think two colors, like the way they used to be painted if you want the semi resto look.

I can't find the pic he sent me, so here it is at the nats.
I'm likeing my new colour find better anyway, so I may be safe :lol_hitti

dsc08103e.jpg
OK, I know the car. What is another color you could add for the resto look ? That color for Cab hood doors etc. and another for the front guards running boards. How would a Tan color go ?

Te Hee!

I think not!! :headscrat ( :wtf: how do you figure that??)
If ya havta know :rolleyes2
Went to the markets this morning with them all, then on to grocery shopping (gee, I haven't done that for yonks) then bruch with the clan, a few jobs around the house, said g'day to the dog & even played table tennis with the tin lids, so I just wandered past the puter every now & then.
Managed to do some banking (while the missus went into work to do some more of the books) so most things achieved today.
Even watched some drag racing on the box including some of the opening round of the V8 Supercars (but your right.............no work on the truck!) Can't do everything.
When your married, have kids & a business with staff, maybe you'll understand
Though I usually work close to 7 days, I have rules. Fammily first, don't work after hours Though they are long) & my customers jobs are most important, so I can't spend all day, every day on my own project, just fit it where I can :beer2::moon::bounce:

No thanks, well not in the old style of colours anyway.

Tan :shocking: (baby poo yellow?)

A few of them where tan cab & black fenders. not my kinda look.
Black will make my wheels look worse than they already are :(
Mmmmmmmm 2 tone????????
Thanks for the suggestions anyway:beer:

Easily :lol_hitti SWMBO :rolleyes2

When your married, have kids & a business with staff, maybe you'll understand
I am married ( did you not know ) Been there with Staff :( so not going back. I sub-contract much now as it is so much easier as I find places that want to do the job and do it how you want it done.

I agree, often here at work more than I should be. I often open on weekends for Customers and if away with the family during the day (elderly Parents and Hospitals etc.) so I often have to come back at night, but only when I have to .

You are to fast to reply. You had should have waited for the photos
I was suggesting the style with two tone and not just the colors.

See there you are to fast to knock the idea before you have seen what I was suggesting :lol_hitti You have to admit the van is very well done and your color with some silver would make it stand out.

Why not see if Bull would move it to the Fabrication forum?

Good Idea

Who he??........(gee, I bet I'l get canned for that :bounce:)
Bull is only one of the Mods here. Just ask and see what he can do. But then just because you :lol_hitti keep losing :lol_hitti:lol_hitti the topic here is not fully going to justify it being moved :lol_hitti

I tend to 'label' threads with a word to help me find it doing a simple search later on. This thread will pop up every time I do a search for vegemite :D

You are the one building this and Im sure you have some vision as to what you want, but I tend to like simple single stage paint in simple schemes. Like a medium grey with burgandy or navy accents. If you get too wild with the paint, I feel it tends to pull my eye away from all of the other custom touches.

Either way keep us posted. Its and amazing build.

Re: Work Shop Pickup Build

 Have to see the pick up bed to confirm that one

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeell
I do have an Extra Cab Hilux bed (which I got in Castlemaine :scared:
)I was gunna remove all the outer panels from it (so I'd only end up using the floor, tailgate framework & latching .....but the handle will be on the inside..... & then make up all new outer skins & add half fenders)

STYLE SIDE PICKUP BED :willy_nil :drink:

Will have to see photos to get the full idea.:headscrat:thumbup:

Some photos of that Hilux bed would be good to see what you have planned for your :deathmeta:deathmetaPickup:deathmeta:deathmeta and what you will be doing with it.

I do not have a pic (it's just a Hilux tub!)
Every one who walks into the shop askes " Your not using THAT bed are you??"
When I say yes!............you should see the look I get............
But then I explain I'm only using the main innner structure & making my own skins, then adding some 1/2 fenders, then a smile seems to appear ................. followed by releif

Found this photo today and wanted to know what you would call it ?

I'd call it COOL! But then again, almost every truck you have posted on this thread is Cool! The COE's are so unique. Almost Deco style.

Your shop truck is a Beauty!. Congrats.

I should have said the PROGRESS of Rocket's shop truck is a Beauty. Any one with the vision and talent to mold sheet metal the way that truck is coming along, is to be admired.

Thanks for catching my brain fart, HOTFR8!
