No I didn’t mean earlier. The circle h transitioned into =v=. The later circle h sockets began appearing with the wings

When I said era I was referring to 40s. And I forgot to mention circle uYes, which =V= is solidly into the Heritage era. The "later" part of Heritage would be from =V= transitioning into -V-, and going to crown top.
Long C transitioned out during the later 40's to early 50's. Heritage started the same time, and slowly transitioned to Crown top in the 60's-70's.
(H) Stuff was made by New Britain, which stopped making stuff for Sears about 1950. It was replaced by =V=, made by Moore Drop Forge.
So any way you look at it, the late 40's was the beginning of the Heritage era, and the end of (H). Not the "later" part of the era (60-70's). The only part of the logo that was "wing-less" was the rolling toolboxes...
Unless you meant the later part of the (H) "era", which I would agree is in the late 40's. But not sure what you mean by "wing-less" in this case, as we have shown sockets with =(H)= markings. Earlier (H) sockets didn't show this, as they mimicked the Long C logo, which was different. The "wings" were added in the late 40's, presumably to correlate with the new badges (Long C being an oval).
I guess my confusion is around what you mean by "era". I would think it is the "Heritage" era, as the title of the thread. Socket markings don't usually jump out to me as an "era".

Thanks! It’s nice to find a power tool that is nearly plug and play! It’s not as big as I would have liked but hey, I basically paid $40 for all those accessories so that’s a huge win in my book! I’m going to give it a little love and put it to work.Nice haul Smokes. Always nice to find a set up like that. Obviously well-used and well-cared for. Nice 3/4 hp motor!

Ohhhh! Thats a great find for $22.50! Cant believe that was still there.Nice find! Factory option switch is worth the $40! Here's my find for the day. Bout the only big tool left at the estate sale on half price morning. PO ran the belt out of adjustment for a while, so has some belt marks into the guides. Little blasphemous, being powered by a Powr-Kraft, but purrs like a kitten, and for $22.50, couldn't say no!
Nice work Doug!
Looking good

Maybe its my wife that needs a cool off period. Lol.Oh! That drill index is really cool! Nice find. And that is this “cool off” you speak of? It should be full speed ahead!
Dang I want to find one of these wall cabinets now. You people are a poor influence, but then again, that’s why I hang out in these seedy partsI finished the set a couple years ago relying on the 1954 Craftsman catalog as my guide. I also had some input from several members here regarding the era correct tools to include and received some of those tools from the same members. (See photo below) It’s a nice set. Good job putting your set together.
Jim C.
I ended up selling it after moving to a new house after it was sitting on the garage floor for two years. I have s different setup at the new house and after two years I figured let someone else enjoy it.
Oh for sure. Shipping is not friendly on these. I just need to find one through my local collector peeps. I know people who find thingsBe aware, the last time I looked (few years ago), I was finding them for about $250+, empty. The mechanics versions tend to command a higher price than the carpenter versions (and of course getting them shipped is a pain).
Excellent find like I said yesterday. I checked out your location and that’s probably why you got it. If you were up north here it would have been gone pretty quick! Where did you find it?Didn't really associate this thread with the era of Craftsman I love... have a lot of reading to do to catch up! Here's my find from yesterday.
Hey Smoke, found it on FB Marketplace about 1 month ago. Seller started at $385 (!!!) and reduced to $325. Probably overpaid at $250, but every other box set was similarly priced for HF / HD / newer Craftsman. Any advise on how to remove the drawers?Excellent find like I said yesterday. I don’t think you overpaid. I don’t think you under paid either but given it’s condition, I think you did well! I don’t actually have one of those boxes but am working on its smaller brother this weekend. Let me see what I can find out on how to get the drawers outHey Smoke, found it on FB Marketplace about 1 month ago. Seller started at $385 (!!!) and reduced to $325. I know it wont fool the really knowledgeable guys but it sure looks pretty good in person and I had fun making it

One of these would look good in that holder. In full disclosure to my can holder- I actually made it. Just was trying to see if it fooled anyone before I admitted my trickery. Of course Cruzan 80 smelt a fish thanks to my bad pictureI received the holder last year in bare steel and hadnt done anything with it. So I figured, why not make a what if item?? I painted it with the heritage/crown era hammered paint, roughed up the paint slightly to look aged and put a good heritage badge on it. I made sure to keep the vintage rivets just to make it look more legit. Badge is held on with very thin automotive emblem 3m tape.

Yeah it would! Hopefully I can find one soon!
You didnt ruin anythingSorry, wasn't trying to ruin anything...
What threw me in general is the idea of holders like that during this era, especially for spray paint. If it had a Duralast label, and held oil cans, I would have had to search it up before questioning. I was trying to ask what it held, not if it was spray painted (my first post was a bit unclear on that).
Overall, it does look nice, and helps the overall theme. One thing I have been debating on putting together is a set of blotter/pad corners, with the Long C, Heritage, Crowntop and possibly rectangular Sears|Craftsman, and see how many people think they were sold as a collectible "set". May work better if I laser engraved the wavy Craftsman logo (never seen that as a standalone badge).
Nice job, Smoke. I'm a little late to the game, but what threw me at first glance was the position of the mounting holes. You would have to mount it logo-side to the wall or lose use of two can holes--and Sears would never condone hiding their logo.In full disclosure to my can holder- I actually made it.
