...speaking of which, I have some more free goodies lining up for next week. Steel under-counter drawers (made for lab bench use), only about 10 years old, look almost new (a few pieces may have minor dings).
As usual, they were about to throw them into a dumpster because they're partial pieces, don't think the auction house would deal with them, and want them gone now.
Certainly not Lista-quality, but would work great for under a work bench, drill press, etc. Everything seems to be 2-feet wide, so also quite modular.
(Edit: I looked up the catalog, and found a spec sheet. It appears that these are built from a combination of 18 gauge and 20 gauge steel. They are quite heavy for their size.)
I'll post pics once they're on my trailer.
Mike

You ****!FREEBIES from work!!!
Build details in my first post quoted here:
These are laboratory cabinets, designed to be installed under modular lab benches. I got the following pieces, orphaned by the new owners (we're relocating some labs as part of a wider consolidation of buildings in the area):
Four of the 4-drawer units:
One wider combo unit (cabinet on the left side, 3-drawers on the right side):
Six 1-drawer units (meant for a "knee-hole" area), two different sizes (need a better pic):
Also grabbed a shelf and a random side piece (no pics of those yet).
Not really sure what I'll do with any of these yet, but I was NOT letting them go into a dumpster!!!

Both of the fleet and the Proto boxes are 60’s. Same with the fleet tools. Nice pick ups!Last day of a 4-day pro run sale where opening prices are usually pretty high. I was drawn to a bright red box in one of the poor photos. Ended up finding 2 Proto/Fleet boxes marked with the original owner’s name on the face plate. As I understand it, Fleet was used from the mid-1940’s-1960’s? I’m sure you GJ experts can educate me.
Each had some tools inside and included this Craftsman (all USA) haul:
A few Crescent items:
An Indestro set that will go on the wall!
The larger Proto box contained a bunch of Fleet marked sockets and extenders.
And finally, some miscellaneous items including a Channellock 910-C, and SK screwdriver (I think?), a German-made adjustable, and a few other items.

Thanks for the insight. I had never seen them before and they are a cool design. They look like they’ve never been used. Those are my favorite Vise grips as they are easily used one handed. Properly adjusted (those are -the little slider bit next to the release), they grip really well too!
They look almost unused, and the plastic cap does not look broken either. That bit is the one weak part of those.
Thanks for the info. They’re in great shape for being 60-ish years old. Both of the fleet and the Proto boxes are 60’s. Same with the fleet tools. Nice pick ups!
I always look for those craftsman truck boxes.
Wish they still made them. Of course I’m the minority in that I have a full size, two door pickup
Got all this for 9 bucks at the restore yesterday

Went to an ES yesterday with SWMBO. It was a packed house in a new area to us. We got there later than we expected and were 51 & 52 in line. Took an hour before we made it in. Had a fair amount of tools, but most were either priced too high or had no interest for me. I did end up with these for a total cost of $21....
The Craftsman 1/4" drive set was $6 with the other five items $3 each. As Otis says, "a little closer now..."
-Proto 1/4" spinner
-Swisstech Multitool and US marked carabiner
-Glardon Vallorbe Swiss file set. It's missing one and hope to find it when we return to the sale tomorrow.
-Extendable magnetic pickup tool
-The Flying Saucers Are Real book dating from 1950 for SWMBO, who is obsessed with all things alien...
Tomorrow we go back for 25% off. The house was packed, so who knows what might now be uncovered....
Yeah, the ratchet needs to be pulled apart and lubricated as it only locks up in one direction....Cool stuff and definitely worth going back. I do like those ratchets, low backdrag, especially with the factory grease removed and an application of a light oil.
I hope you won't be doing any lead climbing with that 'biner! Or, for that matter, anything where your health depends on it.Went to an ES yesterday with SWMBO. Yeah, no real serious use planned for it. Usually ends up being used as overkill for a key chain.....LOL.I hope you won't be doing any lead climbing with that 'biner! Or, for that matter, anything where your health depends on it.
A dropped 'biner is a dead 'biner.
I keep some around for various small jobs. Really handy when doing a complex wire pull without help--like pulling through an LB or similar.

I have a few of the SwissTech key-chain pliers; I keep them on the spare keys I take hunting. They are actually decent and cut up to rebar tie ware well.Swisstech Multitool

Not much in the way of Tools and Garage stuff lately. I did go to an estate sale that had quite a bit, but the company running it is usually a bit high on the things they actually price. If it’s not priced, usually it’s a good deal.
Paid around $7 for this vise, cool old brooder thermometer, and an 4” older US made Crescent adjustable wrench not pictured.
At another little store I stop at every few weeks I found these buttons for $3 total.
Yesterday I stopped in a thrift store that I haven’t been to in a long time. Only thing of interest was a set of 5 Indestro Combination wrenches 18mm - 22mm. I passed on them because they were bundled with some other imported wrenches. Might check in when they change the 50% off color and see if they are still there.

No branding on my vise I found recently
For $21, I brought home a Triangle-era Utica 90-15 adj, a 1939-code Snap-on 1/2dr speeder, a steel AO goggles case with a bunch of hex keys in it, a Merit battery pliers, Bonney-mfd heavy D-sized S-doe, and Bonney 552 doe, Millers Falls No58 eggbeater drill, and a drillbit adapter for bitbrace. The two drills were in the chucks of the last items. No branding on my vise I found recently, but now I know it seems to be the original color scheme.
