Hammerless punches.

They are quite popular now but when I got mine, they were widely unknown just having been released by the original company Spring Tools, and wow, what a godsend. They quickly earned a place in my work essentials.
Since then, I assume the patent expired because their have been an influx of imitators. The quality of the original ones far exceeded my expectations. I haven’t tried the others.

They have several styles but I started with the nailset version and it got used for all kinds of things.
Everyone I let borrow it has instantly wanted one.

I got a three pack from the inventor 20 ish years ago.

Nail set and ?
Chisel and ?
Brad nailer (recessed to hold) and ?

One has a hammer, another a center punch, forget the third. Not a frequent use, but indispensable for certain tasks.

He threw in foam sleeves to ease the snap when they hit.

I got one of them many years ago when they were like 99 cents with free shipping. Before they stopped selling them.

I paid $6. Went to my favorite auto repair shop and asked them to get one from their Snap-On truck the next time he swung by. Three weeks later they called me. I guess he had to dig around for one?

I made this a few years back while working on a wooden skiff. Funny thing, I was so proud of it I sent a pic to a boatbuilder friend. He says “ You made a reefing hook”.

I didn’t know there was such a thing available at your local boat shop. The commercially available hooks are a bit more refined, but I like mine better.

They are used to remove the cotton caulking between boards.

I might be the only one that didn't know this was a thing but its super nice. After getting one I bought some for my equipment maintenance guys at work and they all bought them for their own shops. They are around $30.

That's pretty neat. I saw on amazon there is one made for two grease guns but it's a chinese version. I might have to pick up a couple of these.

I have one and it's been great. I bolted some big round magnets from HF to it and stuck it to the back of my toolbox.

Poop. I knew I shouldn't have opened this thread. More tools I now need...

LeeG, for years I've struggled trying to use typical transfer punches on thin sheet material. The expandable transfer punches are the solution! Thank you. Just wish it was available for slightly smaller holes (my aircraft strap duplicators / hole finders are helpful.)

My contribution for a very accurate hole center punch: Fowler 525000750 9X Optical Center Punch.

(You can skip ahead to about the 1:10 mark.)

Shop around. Prices vary from vendor to vendor. Also, I find Fowler's quality can vary. The first one I received the steel punch was very loose in the bore, but the exchanged part was fine.

They're better for super corroded threads. @Ohio Andy beat me to it, but they allow you to work on point areas vs running a die down the full length of threads.

You also don't need each and every die size on hand - thread files work on any thread with the matching thread pitch. M8 x 1.25 and M10 x 1.25 threads can both be fixed with the "1.25" side of the metric file in my pic above.

I've had at least one occasion where there was a problem at the start of the threads and I was able to use the files but not the rethreaders

I've had threads that were suitably a problem that I couldn't really use the rethreader until after I had used the files

That is really common for me. The end of the fastener gets beat up on outdoor equipment pretty often.
