As probably guessed from above....we left the cold snowy Omaha for a warmer climate....another clue on where:
Wife and I only, kids stayed home with the inlaws. We both wanted somewhere warm, passports were expired so we ended up in Florida. 2 nights in downtown Miami with the hustle and bustle, then 2 nights in Hollywood Beach just up from Margaritaville. Would gladly come back to Hollywood Beach area with the kids....think this is now my 3rd trip to Miami, I've seen the main sites....no burning desire to come back unless it's to get on a cruise.
Only super relevant GJ type pic....
That's around 700 million dollars in those 2 yachts there....
The back one (Dragonfly) is per the internet/AI one of the newest superyachts out there and just arrived in the US last month. 466' long, 60' wide or something like that....the list of crazy features and ammenties is insane...but for around $500 million bucks it should be. Reportedly owned by a guy with a networth of $250 billion(Google cofounder), so it's not going to be hurting when they make a refueling stop. Those are tied off right downtown, the building on the right is the old American Airlines Center where the Miami Heat play and we could walk up next to them along the sidewalk so that was pretty cool to see
Typical sunrise beach pic from Hollywood Beach
First time in this area, would come back. Super nice beach, good mix of more tourist to more local just by how far up/down the boardwalk you went. Super clean, lots of police presence, very obvious they're economy is based on tourists and making us enjoy and want to come back. Would have no problems coming back here and bringing the kids, they'd have a blast. Wasn't expecting the number of electric bikes that we saw....many of them modified for extended range and with saddle bags on the back and a large package shelf over the backtire and being used like some may use a Vespa or similar scooter....only ebike is legal on the boardwalk where scooters aren't.
In garage related news.....the Primeweld Black Friday sale got me and a new Primeweld MTS200 multiprocess welder and gas bottle are ready to be delievered on Monday. Will sell my current cheapo wire feed and add to the project list modifying my small fixture table to sling the welder under it. I didn't by the TIG torch setup for it....yet....that'll be after I get some projects completed (ha!) but it is on the list as I'd like to play with that as I have about 5 minutes of TIG experience.
Now time to go try and figure out how much of this warm weather I can pack into my suitcase to take back
