Has anyone bolted multiple units together? I'd like to see some pictures. I thought I read someone did four but scrolling through the thread, I can't find it.

Look at post#118.They look to be all bolted together.

I am going to bolt mine together using the 2 top and bottom holes on the sides.

i bolt two togather, no problem just leave the four big bolts out of the sides you want to put togather, (oh yea- you can leave the small screws out for the shelves ) once you get them up in place put the bolts and screws back in, yes they are long enough.

Add 15 more to the list. Then first store only had 3 (no pegboard in door) They called another that had 47! They all have the pegboard door. With my girlfriend's help and a cordless we got assembly down to 12 min or so. I told friends about the deal, have not heard how they made out yet. I hung them with four 1/4 by 1 1/2 hexhead screws thru the holes on top and bottom, it will hold with me hanging on it. Love the site, I will post the story of my garage soon. Thanks!

My display has the pegboard; havent opened up any others yet. It's just like a 5" or so strip of pegboard in the center of the doors running vertically.

My display has pegboard on doors. The cabinets in boxes have u-channel for door braces.Do you think I should go back and try to get some money off them?:lol_hitti

Dogberry........how did you mount those? Did you drill the backs to hit the studs? The rails are handy but the more I think about it, I'd rather have the cabinet flat to the wall.

I was never attracted to these cabinets to much before. I'm not a diamond plate person. And at $120 each I wouldn't even consider them.

But damn at $29 I could be done with it and move on the other projects I need to do like paint the walls coat the floor and get a lift happening..

I went out saturday morning all prepared to drive around all day to try to get a dozen or so from all the local stores. But the first lowes I went to had 26.. They were spread across the upper shelves of 5 aisles. I left and was home in 90 minutes. Feel lucky now after reading all these posts..

I think I got a plan for how I'm gonna be modifiying/mounting these things, but if my idea doesn't work out and I have any left over I'll offer them up for the price paid to anyone who missed out.

I hope to see more pics of others installs.. And over the next couple weeks as I get these things together I'll be sure to share pics also, even if it's a failed attempt...

If you meant a web search. As stated prior in the thread, all lowes web searchs say out of stock. Because it's been removed from their system as a "stock" item..

You got go there and have someone check the stock number in store.

Good luck!

Holy Moley Ket-tek! That's quite a haul you got there. I'm sure you were the talk of the night among the Lowes employees after walking out with all those cabinets.

I can just imagine people who've been buying up 10, 15, 26 of these things, hanging them up side by side, stocking them and eventually getting vertigo from just trying to focus and figure out which cabinet has what in it.

I put three together today. After assembling all three, I decided they would look better bolted together. As posted previously, the 8 bolts on the common end panel need to be removed and end up going through both cabinets. Also, four small screws that hold the shelves need to be removed and go through both cabinets. The small screws are pretty short, but will work. I wanted the cabinets flush with the wall. I just drilled some holes in the back of the cabinets to line up with my wall studs. All in all, pretty happy with the outcome.

Got 3 sat. morning, and 6 more in the afternoon. Can't wait for the rest of the stuff to go on clearance. Has anyone seen the Ultimate cabinets 1/2 off at Sears? I was going to go with these but I can't see spending that much for particle board.

I purchased 12 today from the Livermore California store. (None left) Drove the 75 miles to the shop, because I have no room to store them at home and out of the rain. I did remember someone saying that the store only had five, they had twelve, goes to show you that you have to check them out yourself. The stores will say anything.

Thanks

I hope you didnt stack these more than 11 high, looks like 13 in the picture! Look at the little label on the box!!

I wouldnt want that stack to come crashing down, could be a mess.

Thank you very much to the OP, I picked up 6 yesterday because that's all I could fit in my Ford Focus (back off - it's just my commuter car!) I'm going by again today to see if I can score a few more.

Thanks!

Stopped at the Lowe's on the way home last night. They had 8 in stock. Now they only have four. I'm so tempted to go grab the other 4 and hide them away till I get a bigger garage.

Let's see.....26 cabinets.....each 28" wide. That's 60'-8" of cabinets! That should go down both side walls and the back wall of an average 2 car garage.

Well, one of our Lowes has 2 for $29

Another has like 6 of them - but theyre $59 at that store.

I'll definitely go pick up those 2 (If theyre still there..)

Actually, theres another store around here..I should call them real quick.
Edit: Theyre $59 there too.
Edit: called another local Lowes - All out

Maybe they'll mark them down lower in a few days. Definitely not going to spend $60 each. (cant imagine anyone spending the original price..)

I dont think Ill be buying 10 of them, like some here..but Id take around 5 probably.

The store here in Colorado have them at the regular price, no sale yet. They did say if there was another store in town with a lower price they would price match... Just need to find that store!

Just went at lunch to pick up a few more. The store near my house I mentioned earlier still is at regular price. I took 2 of them up to the register and tried to play it cool and see what they rang up for... $118. So I mentioned that I picked 3 up across town for $29.50 to the cashier. She got the manager. Manager called store across town. Manager at the other store said they were all out and they were $59. I told them I just paid $29.50 there yesterday and I got the last 3 they had. The manager at the store I was at said she would price match if I brought my receipt in from the day before...and set the two aside for me to pick up later tonight after work with my receipt. Hopefully they are still there and she/whoever is there still is willing to price match at 5:30.

If I get these two that takes my total up to 5 which should work well with where I plan to put them.

What is everyone planning on putting in them? Anything clever yet?

I am using one for my safety equipment: Face shield, safety glasses, ear plugs, respirator, first aid kit, gloves.. etc

Plan on using another for cordless drill and cordless screwdriver with the chargers on the bottom shelf. Putting most of my drill bits/ driver sets/ accessories in the cabinet part.

Might use another for electrical supplies/tools (soldering irons/crimpers/heat guns/wire on the shelf part maybe install like a wire spool holder there/ connectors)

Another for cleaning supplies with a paper towel holder mounted to it.

Still trying to decide what to do with the last one.

That is all assuming I can get those two tonight.

I plan on mounting these flat to the wall I think.

But I may have come up with something clever to use the nice long mounting bracket it comes with that works with the Gear track. I might buy some Gear track and cut up that bracket to make my own custom storage items for the gear track. If I do this I will post it up. Think clever moveable/storable miter saw shelf and for a place to mount halogen lights that can be moved.

Hmm..Im going to make a phone call and see if I can get the store with 6 to price match.. If I can get those, and the other 2..That should be more than enough.

Actually..I guess I can just buy those 2, then take my receipt to the store where their $59, and they should honor the $29 price..

I bought mine the day after Christmas and paid around $80 each. I bought four of them and assembled the shells, no doors or interior shelves as one unit. I planned on mounting them all together and didn't want the bolt head times two space between them.

This worked out really well, I put a few 2 x 4's on a couple of saw horses, I clamped squares in the interior corners to make sure they would be square. I used a couple of 12" sections of 1 x 6 to mount them to the wall. Once assembled I laid the cabinet face down on the 2 x 4's, placed the trimmed to length 1 x 6 on the back, and lined the top 1 x 6 along the top edge of the cabinet. I marked and drilled a few mounting holes and secured the wood to the cabinets. Using the 1 x 6 allows me to mount the 1 x 6 to the wall studs using lag screws in the recess on the back of the cabinets. I did the same on the bottom edge, only here I extended the 1 x 6 an inch below the cabinet. This will allow me to mount pegboard below the cabinets.

Once all of the was prepared, I removed the bolts that were holding the top 1 x 6 in place and replaced them with hanger bolts. I then mount the top and bottom 1 x 6 to the walls, placed a few vertical 1 x 3's in place between the top and bottom at each end and a few into wall studs using lag screws. With the help of my wife, we lifted the four cabinets as a unit into place and hung them on the hanger bolts, a few fender washers and nuts were added and my wife was free to go. I installed 6 5/16 lag screws thru each cabinet into the wood frame behind.

I then installed the interior shelves, I had already cut a couple of temporary supports to hold the shelves while I lined up the bolts, made up for having only two hands. Hanging the doors was pretty easy and I found that using the squares as I assembled the unit kept me from having problems with crooked doors. All in all I'm pretty pleased with the cabinets, but sure wish I could have saved the extra money.......................

Dang..Thats what I'm hoping to do..

Did you ask for a manager?

Sometimes you can run into a stubborn employee, but when you get the right person, they want to make you happy. Have had that happen a few times. Sometimes people without much power will try to call shots like that..Then you get a manager, and after 2 seconds they give you what you want because they know its not worth the time to talk about it, or the loss of a customer.
