Mega tool closeouts at Menards - Gearwrench, Masterforce and others

Thanks for sharing this. I picked up 2 each of the Metric/SAE crowfoot wrench sets. I'm collecting them for the kids as gifts for when they are older. I would have liked to get some of the screwdrivers but they were all cleared out.

It is odd for Menard's to clearance inventory this way. Their normal clearance area was full of product that has been sitting for month with only small discounts. Still as others have said, this was a pretty small portion of the Masterforce and Gear Wrench assortments so they are probably clearing out space and inventory dollars for other products. What was left in my store was pretty dusty so it had been there a while.

Saved $425 per the receipt. No sets of wrenches but got metric and standard ratchet stubbies singly to make my own sets

Is the Masterforce any good? Looks like junk to me.

It depends what items you're specifically talking about.

The pliers are all imported and don't look very nice, but many of hte other hand tools appear quite good quality and many are made in the USA.

The hard-line tools (sockets, wrenches, etc) are all made by Apex Tool Group. They're made in the USA and are the same as the USA-made tools sold under brands like Allen, formally Craftsman, formally K-D and others I'm sure I'm forgetting.

The screwdrivers are made by Pratt-Read in the USA and are good, basic drivers. The Pratt-Read made Masterforce mini picks are an especially good bargain:

I was looking at the double box end MF wrenches. They were a $1 something and they didn't impress me. I'll go back and take another look.

They aren't fully polished or anything, but they're good, basic wrenches that are made in the USA. I have the Craftsman RP versions, which are very similar, and I really like them. The double box wrenches are nice and long and the wrenches overall are rock solid.

If you're looking for toolbox jewelry, these aren't for you. If you're looking for USA made tools that are affordable, functional and tough, then these might be a good choice.

Those are the same as the old US made Craftsman, made by Armstrong aka Apex. They're fine tools; tons of guys make a living with them. The only thing wrong with them is that they're not shiny enough for tool polishers.

Honestly after getting the Allen stuff, it is awful. Like awful. Masterforce is slightly better. These Allen rats are bad, would have been OK for 1980. I'd prefer a current Craftsman Rp.

The Combos are fine, I like them OK. But those rats are horrible.

Looks like there is quite a bit in stock at my local store. I'll be putting together a 10-19mm stubby ratcheting set for about $28. I'm also gonna pick up several of the 13pc. Quadbox sets from Gearwrench.

Thanks OP,
Between my $120 online order, placed around midnight last night, and my $85 stopping in to pick up the order today.
I got a ton of stuff I did not need but just had to have when I read this post.
My store had pretty much everything. The 20 piece stubbies were nice. They did give me a mix of Allen and Masterforce. But it was fine with me.
I even grabbed a Tool Shop 1/2 and 3/8 set for the truck for $4.60.

I'll grab them when I go back. I liked that they were long. Just wasn't sure about the rough finish. I don't care if they sparkle. I just hate it when a wrench breaks and your hands pay a price.

Made out pretty good. Would have done much better if it weren't for the one other guy that beat me by about 5 minutes. I couldn't even see the bottom of his cart due to it being covered in Gearwrench. Still ended up with about $300 worth of stuff for only $60!! Thanks OP. You made my day.

If your store has an extra metric crowfoot set I would take it. Mine was out.

Made my way to menards this am. Built a set of 10-19 ratcheting stubby gear wrenches and double box metric gear wrenches. Got the last sae and metric usa crowfoot sets. THAT is a steal! Pretty picked over but I got what I wanted. My reciept included other purchases but all the savings were tools.

If anyone has two of the ratcheting screwdriver sets they'd want to sell please pm me. Went to my local Menards, said they had some but no one could find any: ( Got some great deals on the xbeam non ratcheting metric wrenches, and put together a stubby ratchet metric set. Good deals to be had, all the allen brand ratchet sets were under $10 bucks.

Made a Menards Run today. I got their last Grear Wrench 39pc driver set, Masterforce crowfoot wrenches (both SAE & Metric), last set of SAE and Metric double box racheting wrenches and 2 sets of both SAE and Metric X-beam wrenches. Nothing was marked with the current clearance price other some of the individual wrenches. They had quite a few yet and 1 set of each of the Sae and Metric x-beam wrenches. Among other Gear wrench stuff. I had to make a few trips to the price scanner to check that I had the right stuff. :) Savings was $389.95!!!

Used the $7.99 gearwrench ratcheting screwdriver set to assemble my son's radio flyer wagon. Very nice. Comes in handy having long/medium/short length extensions to use.

Get one if you can still find one anywhere. I'd go back and buy another one if it were available near by.

They're allowed to ask whatever they want. It's the suckers who buy it that allow them to continue their pricing schemes.

I bought the metric crows online and as well as the 10mm stubby....

I'm guessing they won't be able to fill it.

My local sears had the Metric stubby set though for $40.

I hit the Livonia Mi. Menards yesterday morning. $202.00 total cost, saved $608.00. Building a set for my seven year old. Couldn't pass up the prices.

I'll go look at another store tomorrow for the crows foot. If anyone has an extra 39 piece screwdriver I'll pay cost + shipping
