I went back to mine earlier today. I was hoping to find the SAE crowfoot set. But no luck. They still had some of the x-beam wrench sets and some loose wrenches but not much else. So I picked up some more of that stuff instead. Still a really nice bunch of tools for cheap!

Anyone have double box end in SAE?

Would love ratcheting midgets but it appears everyone is putting them together with individuals so I doubt anyone would sell one of those.

The pricing at my local Menards was a mess. Some items on sale, others not. Metric or SAE may be greatly different price on same product. Hardly anything marked properly. I loaded a bunch of stuff into a basket and took to scanner to find out pricing. Repeated many times. Final talley, I spent $270 on over $1,000 of tools. Good weekend

Thank you op. Went today with 1 hour to spare and got some good deals. The only thing that ***** is that when I got back home I started checking more stores to hit up tomorrow and noticed that pretty much all the clearance stuff is no longer coming up. Hopefully the deals did not end today.

Yea I know what you mean. The 39 piece screwdriver sets that I got were actually marked $32. I was happy when they came up at $7.99.

Coo doesn't matter in pricing , quality does and this Gear wrench stuff is 10 times the quality of the Masterforce USA stuff

Taiwan Kobalt crossforce wrenches are about twice as good as the Chinese Gearwrench, and yet cost a ton less.

...and ratcheting Chinese Gearwrench wrenches are ****. I passed on all of it, even at these prices. I like their Taiwan stuff just fine, but they failed to even give away the Chinese stuff with me.

Made my three store run Saturday evening. Spent around $180...saved $640 according to the receipts. Even the mrs. was okay with my tool purchases considering the 80% mark downs. Saturday evening Davenport Ia store still had good selections....Muscatine Ia store was hit and miss, and at the Moline Ill store the selection was poor.

I agree, the Chinese gear wrenches do **** big time. However for ratcheting stubbies, I doubt i'll put the pressure on them to break them, so i'm ok with them. Their Taiwan stuff was WAY better quality.

Just picked up the Gearwrench 20 piece SAE/Metric stubby on clearance for $20.00. Found them on their internet site. I had to check several different stores to find them in stock in Lancaster, OH.

Spent 82....savings 330. Got 2 metric gear wrench sets....pieced together most of a set of xbeam sae and metric.

3 sets of long reach screwdrivers.

Sae and metric crowsfoot....a few odd screwdrivers.

Wish they would have had some of those stubby sets.

The online inventory and what they actually had....quite a ways off. Guess some of the items may have been stashed in the back...but I doubted it and I got most of what I wanted....so didn't want to hassle with employees.

You pretty much are. Apex makes Craftsman, Allen, GearWrench, and Masterforce hardline. They might be the OEM of Performax as well - I've never looked at the Performax stuff real well.

Performax is same as HF, so is Tool Shop. Both Menards house brands.

Some of the Performax is the same as HF. Only ratchets, I think. Sadly, those Taiwan Performax/HF ratchets are nicer than the US-made Apex stuff you find at retailers. You have to get on a Matco truck or get Gearwrench 120xps to find better. Kind of like how Craftsman Evolv is better than Craftsman RPs for ratchets.

I don't think I've seen Tool Shop equivalents at HF for a longggggg time, though. Tool Shop is like that stuff you see covered in an inch of dust at ankle level at the front of the counter at O'Reilly's. Or that stuff they call "Durasteel" at Wal-Mart.

But back to what you were saying, yeah, Apex has nothing to do with them.

If anyone sees a 15mm stubby ratchet, and wouldn't mind sending it my way, that would be awesome.

Obviously I would pay shipping and cost

Tool shop pipe wrenches, bolt cutters, pliers etc are all same as hf. Doubt the sockets and such are. I am not keen at all on the performax rats, ymmv of course.

Found a whole bunch in central IL. No sets were left, only assortments of stubbys and double box ended. Couldn't find any 10mm ones though.

I got a spare 18/19mm double box end. I may try to grab more stubbies at another store tomorrow.

I saw 6 sets of the stubby wrench sets, but the tag showed $50. I can try to check on those sets tomorrow. People are saying they got then for $20?

The woman wanted to have dinner a couple of towns away tonight. I made an executive decision and we stopped off at the Menard's out there.

They had one set of SAE double box (marked 2005), one set of Metric double box (marked 1999 and "BY KD TOOLS"), and one ratcheting screwdriver set...all Taiwan.

All mine, and one of the metric socket adapter sets, too.

Total of $35 after tax.
