Well, to save time the tool is 0.5HP - which should be getting the job done on a 3" cut-off tool as many competing designs are below that power rating. On an in-line tool the ergonomics allow you to push it more quickly through material then approaching it from a 90 degree - so that's some of it.

If there's a general consensus, opinions about a tool, or issue with it - we try to address amazon reviews directly and help if we can. But single or even a handful of reviews can often be.... well off base some times.
We've had people send in this very unit saying it wasn't very powerful, see nothing wrong and have to inform them of the power adjustment knob on the side.

__________________

yeah I took the review with a pretty decent grain of salt. I have been using AP stuff for years and years. I know their quality and standard quite well. That cut off wheel is on my Amazon wish list. My birthday is in July so it might be a wile....

Makes me think of the guy who destroyed his transmission when he shifted from D for dirt to P for pavement

Might be the funniest thing I have seen all day. :rocker:

Thanks for getting back to me, I don't have quantity or part numbers, I was only wondering if there was a program in place as I am tooling up a brand new facility....many of the manufacturers have vocational ed programs for students/programs as a way of introducing the tools to the student while they are enrolled in school (which helps significantly with the shrinking budgets we all deal with), in some cases, the manufacturer sets pricing as "vocational Education" pricing and the industrial supplier passes the savings on to the student/institution...

A/P Tools,
Hi Charles. I've read through most of the posts since you've been on here and I have to say that I admire you for your staying power. At first I thought you might just make a quick appearance, hype a few products and then vanish into the night.I was very wrong and would like to thank you for the way you have handled each and every post directed to you
My question for you is this,do you have a complete online catalog or must I go to one of your distributors for product info and pricing? I don't have any particular need right now but might in the near future.
Thanks again for your help to all of us here on GJ.

Mike

Hey Mike,
First off, thank you so much for the compliment and the recognition.
In my mind, it is the tool users whose opinions and views mean the most, so it is truly our pleasure and honor to be active in a community as great as the GJ.

To answer your product question, our website has product info for all products (including discontinued, and closeout which are labeled appropriately).

In terms of pricing, a lot of our distributors post our products to Amazon, so you can always find a good price there.
Along with that, we have plenty of distributors who sell online as well.

I hope this answered all your questions, and thank you again for your support.
Have a great day!

Just picked up a 1432A Riveter and a 78205 Steering Knuckle Spreader from Woot. $12.99 for the spreader is a steal, imo.

Finally test drove this thing.
Decent power. The regulator is a nice touch. I actually ran it fairly low for the most part. I was grinding out spot welds on a chevy truck bed for what its worth.
The tool feels real stable and well balanced. It doesnt feel jerky when you squeeze and let off.
Nice job.

If I had one complaint it would be that it is pretty dang loud. And I am saying that with ear plugs in.

It definitely is one of our louder air tools. I'm working on a new inline cut-off tool right now (think bigger, more power:rocker:) and even with a few different types of muffler designs, it still fits right in with the 209 haha.

Is the DA variable speed, or six set speeds? What is the price point for the DA?

Hey gipraw,
Our Sugg. List is about $250.

A few distributors have purchased it already so it should be appearing online any day now.

The speed settings are on a wheel and is adjustable.
Please see the Product Info Sheet (http://www.astrotools.com/pdf_info/3058.pdf)

Charles,

Thank you.

Im getting the circuit tester for no other reason than I already have many of your products and have been impressed with the quality vs. value and that the photo you used is that of a Coyote Mustang engine bay!

I have the above and I really liked it, but if it had a bleed down valve I'd love it. Might be something you want to add in the future to this tool.

That would be our Astro shop car and guinea pig. Many parts and Astro tools are being thrown at it this year. Will be piloted by our Product Manager Chris this year in HPDE events as well as SCCA and NASA events next season.

It does have a bleed down function, you squeeze the lever only half way and it lets air out of the tire:dunno:
