I do dubber, definitely.

BTW, here are those photos with my wife's Jeep parked in the garage. That's enough room, right? :)

Does the salt on the floor make you cringe? :D

The new cabinets look great!

great idea for the AL. base in them!

I'm probably the only one on this site that LIKES the picture of all the salt on the floor. To me it just proves that your flooring is holding up and still cleans up nice.

Thanks for posting that shot. Interesting how angles and perspective can make all of the difference. You have a ton of room over there.

Salt doesn't make me cringe, as its something i had to deal with every year. BUT i still HATE it.

Eddie, I believe we met at PittRace last year (we discussed the importance of pitting procedures--the track day after the 'flying motorcycle' incident). I hope you're doing well and ready for this season (it's here)!

I've been a 'non-active' member on this forum for a few years, and this thread prompted me to take a closer look at a project that I want to complete in my two-car, attached garage. I really like what you've done, and might borrow some of your ideas!

Thanks for posting...

See you at the track!

It does clean up well, thanks DW.

A few updated photos taken recently. We picked up our new bike for the season and have been taking it apart, going through it and prepping it for the upcoming season. First race is only a few weeks away!

I was just as excited as he is.

What do you get a new one every season? If so what happens to last seasons ride?

That's one hell of an update! I'm interested to see how you get on with the R1. Are you allowed to keep all the electronics in your race series? What else are the plans for this beast?

Generally every two seasons, but after a year of chasing thousands with a 750 - coupled with the new R1 specs, it was hard to resist bumping up to the 1000cc bike. It will be a big challenge for sure, as we've never raced a 1000.

Yes, since it's OEM, all Superstock classes allow the electronics - which is a huge jump among any manufacturer - and a big thing we're working on sorting out currently.

Other plans include the bodywork being painted, added parts here and there. Overall, just learning the bike as it's a whole new beast. We're leaving the motor stock for now, as power shouldn't be an issue and since we don't have much time before the first event. After that, we will likely drop the motor and do a Supersport build to it.

I'll keep posting pictures as we make progress.

That looks like a nice shopping list. A company here in Holland, Hoko Parts, had put one on the bench (along with a 1299S and a S1000RR), it put out over 200PS :rocker:
Are you going to change the forks and shock too?

I like every single thing about this thread, the floor, in ground lift, butchers block, beautiful garage! There's some nice bikes sometimes too

Nice. Yes we've heard similar comparisons, thanks for sharing. Good stuff for sure. Yes, we have an Ohlins shock on currently. Had to retro-fit a hydraulic preload adjuster, as they don't come with one for the R1.

For the forks, we're in a bind. Ohlins doesn't have stuff ready, so we're looking at a K-Tech solution. Not fully sorted out yet.

Thank you!

So you went to the dark side with the new R1. Hope it works out, switching manufacturers is always a fun task.

Haha. We had been on Yamahas from '07-'13' and then Suzukis last year. Going back to familiar territory you could say.

Ok - dream plans started.

Can you tell me where / what type of rugs you're using? I have a similar setup and I'm looking for something comfy on the knees, but still won't die when I splash some brake fluid.

General Linen, here in Michigan. I'm sure they can ship.

If you call, ask for Terry Nix. He's always taken good care of us. We've used them for garage rugs, as well as rugs for our bikes in the pits. Heavy duty for sure.

Two questions not garage related- what exhaust are you going with and how difficult was it to remove the ABS without throwing a code?

Yoshimura exhaust.

For the ABS, pretty easy to do once you have everything off, although we flashed the ECU.

Not any real updates to the garage lately. It's been a great workshop and I feel like I've been living out there lately. :)

Thanks for reading.

Really making me miss Grattan

We're heading back there next weekend to get some more laps in. The next round there is counter-clockwise.

Great results! How does the new R1 compare to the Suzuki?

Thanks. It's um, well .. just a little bit faster. :D

It actually feels similar to an R6, on steroids. We turned a personal best first time out, which was encouraging. Although, of course you always want to go faster. :)

It's never fast enough :D But It get what you're saying.
On a demo ride I had a go on a Panigale 899 followed by the 1299S... felt the same until you opened them up. The 899 is fast, the 1299 is ballistic, awesome :D

I've never ridden an R6, to small for my dangly legs :/ Couldn't fold my knee under the tank, GSX-R600 was a better fit. I still went for the Daytona, more of an occasion riding on the street.

Wow. I went through this entire thread in one sitting! Completely astonished by your garage build. Inspired! I plan to steal some of your ideas....if that is okay with you

This was my second post but a lurker for the last year! Thanks for all the updates and the beautiful bike pics. I have recently acquired my first bike. Someone was messing with the carbs and I'm in the process of a complete tune-up/clean-up.

Thank you. Yes, absolutely. Several of my ideas (aka scope creep!) were inspirations from reading this forum. Congrats on your first bike as well!

Hey All ..

Just a few photos from the track, as our season has been rolling along, traveling from track to track and plugging away in the garage in between.

Have a couple small things to update from the garage, which I'll get some photos of and posted as well.

Thanks.

I may have missed it, but is there a toolbox in the trailer?

Yes, we keep it as efficient as possible. Three drawers for ease of use. Power tools and other lesser-used items are in bins inside the cabinets.

This came across my Facebook feed and I thought I recognized the helmet and bike. Congratulations on a successful season on a new mount.

Thanks for noticing and posting!

Dang... missed the last updates somehow. Great to see you're using the new bike to the fullest!

Thank you, much appreciated. Have one more big race event left this season and then it'll be back to tweaking stuff in the garage. :D

Not necessarily a true shop update, but I did pick up this DryGuy dryer for motorcycle gear a couple weeks ago. I've been using it on gloves, boots and my helmet. It works similar to a fan, but also has the option for heated air - which dries sweat quicker.

Typically at the track we'll have a little fan running to set a helmet on in between sessions. It often doesn't get the inside of the helmet completely dry though, but with this, it's dry every time. It works on kids' shoes too, after a rained out t-ball game. :)

Figured some here might find this interesting.

New to this forum, but just wanted to say awesome idea with the lift in the foundation. Wish I would've thought of that when I built mine.
