I just ordered a set about a month ago and they are identical to Knipex. The picture on the website I believe is out of date.

Went to go get em. Still going to purchase the SK 3 piece for 68 from advance auto. SKs any good or are there better ones?

People on here say stick to Mac or SO when it comes to flare nut wrenches. You can find some pretty good deals on used sets through eBay.

I have been wanting a set of Knipex Cobra pliers. I now see these and have $10 in surprise points. Should I go ahead and order them? The only thing holding me back is searching online I've read some reviews saying they don't have as many positions as the actual Knipex versions. Are these really different or the same minus the logo? I checked them out in the store and they say made in Germany.

You must be reading old reviews. These are identical minus the grip color. Actually the craftsman grips are nicer imho.

Not really sure what you mean by a good deal on Snap On flare wrenches.. unless you consider $150 for 5 wrenches to be a good deal. Kind of hard to compare that price to a $20 set posted here with a lifetime warranty. Granted, these are gonna be Chinese though. Flare wrenches are pretty rugged, you really can't go wrong with a cheaper brand, especially when you factor in the lifetime warranty. Sunex makes some good quality ones also for a decent price.
Personally, I like the SK sets that I picked up recently. 1/3 the price of Snap On, same quality.

Yeah, most of the reviews seemed to be from 2013 or so. Glad to hear these are identical. Maybe I'll go ahead and get a pair.

I picked up a pair of the Craftsman pliers last week for $35 and they look identical to the Knipex cobra except the grip. One Craftsman product I do not mind seeing made overseas.

Until the cheaper brand Chinese ones start to strip and the metal will spread because it's cheaper.

The SK flare nut wrenches are great. Many members here recommend them alongside Snap On. I have both, and never had a problem with either.

Actually, now that I think of it, that's a lie. I ended up warrantying most of snap on flare nut wrenches because they were severely broached off center.

The SKs will serve you very well!

S-K is the way to go for flare nut wrenches. I've had a set that I've used out here in the rust belt of Upstate NY for 20 plus years. BEST bang for the buck!

yeah,
notice how the "nose" in long on yours like a kinepex, but on the picture of the sears website, the nose is short.
yours are the older Craftsman ones. The newer ones are made by someone else.
i think you can see the difference here.
EDIT,
Im not saying there no good at all, but they are different.
I do like the longer nose, probably cause I know it's like the Kinapex.
but might be something to look for if you get them.

Bubinga,

To me it looks like a different perspective in the Sears photo. A little foreshortening.

This is incorrect. Per an older GJ thread from 2009, at some point in time Knipex updated the Cobra design. Subsequently the Craftsman branded variant was updated as well. The stock image used on the Sears website is outdated and reflects the first picture below. The current Craftsman Cobra and current Knipex Cobra are one in the same and reflect the second picture.

Here is an older Cobra (rounder head, courser adjustment teeth):

I have the new design, I just bought them last week. Sears hasn't updated the pictures on their website and still shows the old model Knipex from several years ago.

I don't think $150 for 5 is a great deal and I agree with what you say on the SK. I think spending a little more and getting the SK or a good set on eBay is the way to go.

Picked up 2 pair of these last time they were on sale, be aware they are not a real heavy duty jack stand. Fine for what I wanted, I use them under the RV axles to take some of the weight off the tires. Don't think I'd use them on anything I'd be getting under. JMHO.

Ditto, I use them for the mower but thats about as far as I go. Not a lot of metal to those.

lol. Sold by 3rd party, I doubt it. I would never pay that much anyway. I wouldn't even pay the $99. Maybe if they were heavy duty

probably junk? who knows. but I figure for the price of the ratchet, the sockets are freebies.

Craftsman 10 pc., 6 pt. 3/8 in. Standard Socket Wrench Set
$9.99 hot buy

Craftsman 10 pc. 6 pt. 3/8 in. Metric Socket Wrench Set
$9.99 hot buy

I got the 1/4 version of these and it is ****. The sockets all fit loose on the ratchet (and on every extension/ratchet/handle I have). Went to sears & that's just how their sockets fit now. Disappointing.

The case is nice.

Yup. They MS Painted some white over the Pittsburgh name. :lol_hitti

Are those HF stands any good?
With the 20 percent off, would be about $32.00 plus tax.
