I'm still getting $10 off $50 or $15 off $100 . . .
. . . . just got a $5 off clothes . . . . also recently a $10 off $30 from K-Mart.

The "trick" I've learned to using those instant Surprise Points is click on the Shop Now when Sears emails the offers. Then pick some stuff for cart and see how the Surprise Pts work out (ie if they apply to your proposed purchases) along with the future SYW free money.

Be ready to buy something because if you mess with opening and closing the cart too much, the Surprise Point dollars will disappear. It's becoming king of a use-it-or-lose-it sort of bait and switch by Sears.

+1 on previous advice to not let SYW money build up too much and not take it. I was nicely surprised as all my discounts applied to the 2 tires I bought today. ;)

Got in store $5 back on $10. Then in the receipt for that I got $5 off of $5+ anything.. It had been awhile since I got anything good, but ordered the DeWalt setup a month ago w/$100 back and have been spending it a few times..
Slide I ordered for the kids was $30 never got pickup notice, did online chat and they refunded it all, but didn't cancel order. Picked up slide few days later (still shows as processing in store on website).
Had an issue with not getting 50% back on a $30 item, part of a $82 order. Web chatted and she gave me 50% back on entire purchase +$4 for the hassle.. so $45 total. Lol... Still have $50 left after buying a few other things. Waiting for next good 50% back deal.

So far every week I keep getting a 5 on 5 or 6 on 6. plus the usual 5 on 25, 5 on 35, 5 on 45, 10 on 50. Lately I've also been getting 8 or 10 off 8 or 10 on clothes or yard and garden.

Roughly five weeks in a row, I got either $10 or $7 off Sears home, no minimum purchase, bought some towels. Then I started getting $4 or $5 off anything, no minimum, that lasted maybe five weeks, bought hacksaw blades and batteries. I just got a $16 off $25 in automotive, very timely, as I bought a 5 qt jug of Mobil1 and applied for the Mobil1 rebate, as well.

I think the trick is to stay active, purchase-wise, and you'll get points. But those purchases probably have to be made online to stay on their radar screen. I haven't experienced anything weird, like points disappearing when a cart is closed or opened. My points, for the most part, have been well behaved and act predictably - they expire like clockwork at about 11:55pm Hoffman Estates time on their expiration date. About 15 minutes later, I have new points offers added.

I keep getting various dollar amounts with minimums, and I always have around $10 in points just from playing the games now and then, but there really isn't anything they have that I want / need right now.

I've just about gotten everything I could possibly want from Sears. There are just a few things left that I'm waiting to go on sale. Dealing with the website is terrible sometimes but it's still so much better than calling into customer service and actually having to talk to someone. That's where Sears is saving the money because I think you are required to have a peak iq of 6

There are some discounts on individual Bosch router bits. About 1/3 off in some cases. Probably worth it if you need the bit.

I'm really struggling to find anything worth buying. Now that you need to hit $30 for free shipping, I'm having a hard time finding anything that I need just over that line. Already stocked up on Vim bits, Knipex pliers and Wera screwdrivers. I bought some Mayhew long reach bit and socket turners, but was disappointed to find that they were Taiwan-sourced. Any ideas on oddball items flying under the radar would be appreciated.

As for points, I seem to get $8 off $25 most weeks.

Ugh I'm pissed... I have $20 off $30 in the kitchen appliances and other... Anyhow, the one item I want it won't apply it, even though sold by kmart (which says it's okay)... Well, the next higher model that costs 2x as much does work with the coupon, but I don't want to spend that much... Oh well...

Try clicking "chat" at the top of their home page for customer service on their website. I've used it several times and have been surprisingly impressed with how well it went - and there was virtually no wait and my issues were quickly resolved.

FYI, Bosch router bits are Chinese. IMO you are better off with other brands. My favorite so far is Whiteside, made in USA. Of course, those aren't available from Sears.

Come on, guys...

It seems like the last several pages of this thread have mostly been posts complaining about coupon codes, surprise points, customer service, etc. This is the ** Hot Deals ** section of the forum, not the ** ***** about how crappy Sears has gotten ** section of the forum. I agree with all of your complaints, but there are other places for us to discuss them.

I'm guessing most here have one of these already, but maybe some Sears newbies can find this useful.

Craftsman 69602 5/8" x 50' All-Rubber Garden Hose - $17.99

Craftsman 69605 100' x 5/8" All-Rubber Hose - $35.99

Check your account coupons, because there's no 'Hot Buy' tag to block coupons. Even though a garden hose is not powered, some of the "Power Lawn and Garden or Outdoor Storage" coupons still apply.

The newer China-made 75-tooth ratchets are lower-priced, but if anyone wants the older Taiwan-made thin-profile 84-tooth ratchets:

Craftsman 3 pc. Thin Profile Ratchet Set - $80.99

Discounts:
- No 'Hot Buy' tag, so a $10 off $50 coupon applies.
- 5% off tools with Sears credit card.

Earn back points:
- $20 in points - Craftsman Club members, but must pay at least $0.01 with something other than your points.
- $10 in points - SYW MAX members, but must pay at least $30 with something other than your points.

Discussion of coupon codes and surprise points and how to get these deals certainly seems to be on-topic. If the mods think the discussion has gotten off-topic, I think they will let us know.

Yes, Why don't you all let it go.
It is on topic. Its a "Hot Deals" thread. It's about saving money.
Please just skim over it if it bothers you.

Just got the Irwin 6" 4 pack clamps for 5 dollars. They didn't have a price in store and wasn't online.

I got 2 packs of those a few weeks back for $5 each also. There was another set of them at another store near me and the price check machine wouldn't even recognize it. At the register it rang up $0.00. So one time they told the cahier to go look it up online and he found a $14 price and I said forget it. Then the next weekend I tried again with another cashier and she said "I can do $10" I said forget it again... Now they are all gone at the stores by me.

Yeah I was going to buy a few more but when I went back in they had removed them from the shelf.

Has anyone received surprise points lately? I haven't received any in months.

I've gotten plenty. But I can't use them.

I make an order and the surprise points are counted... but then I'm charged more. After the fact. (This kind of glitch has a name in the web retail industry... "fraud"). I saved screenshots of before and after, and called Sears and SYW and nobody can do anything except give me more points back after the fact. No refunds, no fix in the pipeline.

So, after a month of this I canceled several hundred dollars worth of orders, returned another few hundred, and I'm done with Sears.
