So, I tried chat this evening for a price adjustment on an in-store purchase, since it worked last week on a different purchase (despite the guy at first saying he couldn't do it, he made a 'one-time adjustment' that others here said wasn't really one-time). This time I got someone who said he couldn't do anything about in-store purchases because he only has access to online-order info. So I tried to send him a screenshot of my in-store purchase history, and he said their computers can't open any outside links. Unlike the last guy, he didn't even mention the online price protection form as an option, just said I need to talk to the store employees. Oh, and gave me a $5 off $25 footwear coupon to make up for the trouble, yeah right. 
(Update: claimed he gave me that lame coupon but it never even showed up!)
Edit: Oh, and the place on the price match policy page where it links to that form now says it's only for "If your purchase was made on Sears.com". So dang, is the only option in this situation now really to bother someone in-store? That *****.

Can 100% confirm this. They were back in stock and Chinese at my local store as of last week. I got the last 2 USA ones in all of southern California last fall and feel lucky to have gotten them.

So my plans this weekend didn't go exactly as I had hoped. We got a bunch of freezing rain / snow overnight Friday and early Saturday so we decided to wait till Sunday to meet up...
Well, Sunday all the HomeTown stores open at noon, and that's when I'm meeting my friend. Since I'm taking a dog back home with me I didn't want to stop at the stores afterwards...
I'm just now browsing on the sears.com site to see what they have in-store... Wow... USA 3-piece pliers set... USA linesman pliers... and a few other USA things that are in-store pickup only... I just had to stop looking it was kind of depressing... lol..
... and to rub salt on the wound, there is also a Kmart in one of those small towns! I can only imagine what kind of deals would have been there...
Next trip south I am definitely planning a couple hours of browsing time...

Darn. In hindsight, maybe you could've picked out some stuff to order for in-store pickup before making the drive, and then it would've just been a few minutes to run in for a pickup. (I assume they're still fast about that at Hometowns too?)

FYI, the 3/4" drive ratchet set is back on sale for $125. I'm wondering what percentage of the sets people have gotten are still the NOS made-in-USA versions. It seems like the reviews are positive on the USA-made version and down on the quality of the made-in-China version in terms of having a rough finish (not sure I see much difference in durability though).
I figured I'll order it, see what I get, and then decide whether or not I want to return it.

I bought mine when it was $125 and used a coupon + points to bring it down to $100 exactly. Sears had $50 back in points on a $100 purchase going on. I'm sure they will do it again soon, you might just want to wait.

Also Sears is discontinuing their 3/4" set (what my HomeTown store owner told me) as he was unable to get a customer a replacement 3/4"-drive ratchet that he brought in (old V series that was worn out). Probably why the sockets are on such deep discount too...

I think the Pittsburgh Pro products from Taiwan are better quality than Craftsman from China, but comparing China Craftsman to the non-"pro" Pittsburgh from China is a close call. Harbor Freight lists two (metric and SAE) 20-pc 3/4"-drive socket sets for $60 each ($48 each after 20% off), but they aren't labelled "pro". When researching this, I came across a comment claiming that Apex Tools makes a lot of the Pittsburgh/PPro products for HF in addition to making products for Craftsman, Kobalt, Husky, etc.

Yeah, that's the non-"pro" sets I was talking about a couple posts ago. (Unfortunately there isn't a "pro" option for a similar set, just some individual pieces sold separately, like the ratchet.) There is a substantial difference between the two tiers.

But I bought a ton of 3/4 sockets when they were on say some time ago and got that 3/4" slider bar. But really need a ratchet and some extensions.

Is there any reason to have a 3/4" set? I mean I have a complete USA set of 1/4" 6pt, 3/8" 6 &12 pt Deep and Shallow, 1/2" 12pt Deep and shallow as well as almost full set of 1/2" Deep and shallow impact. I mean I have a full 41" long drawer and full 26" long drawer full of sockets......but every time I see the 3/4" sets on sale I feel I need it. So convince me one way or the other

All a matter of what you work on. If all the 1/2" size sockets get what you need done, I would probably say skip. If you find yourself using a lot more of the larger size 1/2" sockets, then maybe the 3/4" makes sense.
If you are working at 3/4" size, I might be thinking getting an impact set, but that is me.

I have a 3/4 Craftsman Flex Handle Breaker Bar (got it on sale). Then bought a 3/4-to-1/2 step down adapter (from Ebay). Then for stubborn jobs, I use the 3/4 Breaker Bar with my 1/2 sockets.
Good compromise. Gives you a hefty 3/4 breaker bar, but uses your existing 1/2 sockets and impacts. You can also slip a pipe over the Craftsman.
I wouldn't pay full price for this, but at some point it went half price, and took coupon codes and points. So got it for like 10 or 15 bucks.

I haven't seen the 3/4 HF ratchet/sockets so I can't really comment. The CMan set is okay, I would not have paid full price for it unless I really needed it.
I've spun the ratchet around a few times, it's big and heavy and not too refined. I'll try to remember to take some pics today and I'll remove the cover from the ratchet and snap some pics. I know it could use a little superlube.
I really like my old 3/4" SK ratchet, you can find them on eBay cheap if you are patient.

Just depends on what you work on. The larger 3/4" interface between ratchet & socket transmits more torque. I've seen some pretty small socket sizes in 3/4", which are probably more for a matter of convenience.
Like someone else said, if you find yourself using the largest sockets in your set a lot, and you are having to use some excessive effort, then you might want to step up to some 3/4". Otherwise they will probably collect dust and never get used.
Honestly for the few times I've had large things I have a couple 15" adjustable wrenches that got the job done.

If you're trying to complete the set, there are also 6 additional SAE sizes that are included in the 24pc 3/4"-drive set that aren't in the aforementioned 16pc set. However, it seems that not all of those sizes are available to purchase separately, and the ones that are available separately don't have much of a discount and so they're pretty expensive. Agree, I think Sears is getting rid of the 3/4. I sure they are not moving a lot of 3/4 sockets and ratchets, so they can use the space in the warehouse for something else.
I am in the same boat, trying to not buy the 3/4 sockets. I do not think I would ever need them, but who can predict the future need, right? And with freecash and/or coupons, the price is hard to resist.
You just parroted the exact thoughts that went through my head, and in the same order, which led me to eventually purchase the set, and then the next day order all the metric sockets. "I may not get another chance. Don't blow it!"
