I've had decent luck just asking for free shipping, but my total was still usually $35. It usually seems it is an oddball item that a store will be shipping out when it doesn't qualify. The last couple Gearwrench ratcheting wrenches I've ordered have been like that

I think this is my third attempt at price match and I can not believe that it worked :bounce: I got this Gearwrench serpentine belt grab tool (price matched to Home Depot) + socket rack to bring the total to over $35, so it is free shipping.

Thanks @2manytools!

Anyone that hasn't snapped up a cheap cman 48" magnetic level, USA version is officially discontinued so may want to consider getting one before only China is left. Yes these are the exact same part number/SKU. I got 2 more for $13.88 after seeing this.

Thank you timoboy and Hexen for the heads up about the level COOs changing to China!

I've had the Cman 24" magnetic level in my "save for later" list for months, so I just picked one up, US-made.

Is there any assurance of getting a US one if ordering for shipping? Or are the Chinese ones being substituted without any change of specifications or photos on the site?
I just ordered 2 for shipping directly from Sears hometown. They showed up USA. If they show china I was just going to exchange them for the USA ones in a local store that won't price match.

Updates on the situation with appliances...

Good news: Customer orders hadn't been trucked to stores since at least 2 weeks ago, but some have started arriving again the past couple of days, presumably due to renegotiation with the trucking companies. But this is just for things that were already in the warehouses.

Bad news: Whirlpool, which stopped selling Sears any of their non-Kenmore brands last year, had continued as a Kenmore manufacturer since then. But now they are so fed up with the millions of dollars Sears is behind on paying them, that they have filed with the bankruptcy court requesting permission to seize all the Whirlpool-manufacturered Kenmore appliances currently in stock in Sears/Kmart/Innovel warehouses and stores. IIRC the list of vendors Sears owes the most money to, Whirlpool is the one that's in deepest, so their request might be more likely to get approved.

LG is trying to get out too. Limited cash and inventory is basically a recipe for liquidation. Apparently they need another loan from Lampert just to keep going for a little longer.

Got an email this morning that my $5.99 International tool box is ready for pick up. A day and a half ago customer service told me the order would be canceled.

Thanks!

Haven't been paying as much attention to my inbox with the Sears/Kmart emails, so I just found the ready-for-pickup email.

Re: Anyone purchase the new stuff?

Since there are already ratcheting drivers that hold bits, I'm not sure what to do with these.

From someone on SD: "My local Sears had out flyers for Sears Community Days Event (extra 10% off 10/27-10/28 IN STORE with a simple 3 word barcode that all of the flyers had) and a Halloween Spooktacular on 10/27"

There's also still a Family & Friends (F&F) 10% off sale coming up the weekend after that - Nov 4 in-store, and Nov 4-6 online.

Reminder about this for anyone buying in-store, looks like all or at least most of the non-liquidating corporate Sears stores are doing this in-store-only 10% off this weekend... I found confirmation of it on several mall websites, e.g. https://www.princekuhioplaza.com/en/events/sears-community-days-event-23743.html

My old red stool has some tears on the top, so I'm considering getting it as well.

Still no availability for the 90T ratchet sets. I love how they include a breaker bar and speed handle, instead of a **** load of screw bits and hex wrenches. Guess the manufacturer bailed before shipping any to Sears. :(

has anyone experienced an issue checking out recently? basically you go through checkout like normal, get to last page and add points, total drops down, put in your cvv # to complete and click process order, brings up a window saying 'processing order' with a spinning wheel, then sends you back to your cart at step 1

Yeah local hometown store do not have this set and no idea when they may get them :( I hope they sell just the ratchet by itself.

I was browsing Lowe's site the other day, and saw 120T ratchet

None available for local pickup so I ordered some shipped- Thanks for the heads up

Aren't those new "craftsman" ratchets sealed and non-user serviceable? They're throw away tools. At least you can open up and grease the Pittsburgh ratchets from Harbor freight.

Not trying to veer off the Sears hot deals discussion here since we have some sensitive members who get very upset if the post does not contain hot deals, but why throw away? I mean it has lifetime warranty. Does people here actually service (disassemble, clean it, grease it, put it back) their HF ratchet? At this price point, does it really matter if it is serviceable or not?

Yes. I actually DID take apart and clean and grease all of my HF ratchets. They were all bone dry inside and are MUCH smoother since greasing. If you get a "bad" craftsman, you take it back to the store and it ends up in a trash can. Seems kind of wasteful .

What do you guys think of this deal:
20v Dewalt drill with 2 batteries for $99 with $50 back in points?
I've read on here that old stock Li batteries aren't great and this tool wouldn't see heavy use so I'm worried the batteries will just die from sitting in my closet.

https://www.sears.com/dewalt-dcd771c2-20v-max-cordless-lithium-ion-1-2/p-00927452000P

What are the odds that a Black Friday Deal will top this?

I think that is a pretty good deal. imo what need to be considered (probably apply to other things as well):
- $50 paid in 2 installments - noone knows when Sears will close, but I think you have good chance that you will get your $50 in points if you buy now.
- I dunno what Black Friday Deal for drills will look like - you can do a search in Slickdeals. But even if the deal is better, lets say cheaper price and $50 in points paid in 2 installments - when are they going to pay them? Will you get your points before Sears close? The longer the wait, obviously the riskier it is. I think we all believe that Sears is going to close, just a matter of when (unless some miracle happens).

^ is assuming that you do not forget to use your points :)

Since you get the first installment of the points back the next day, you're only really risking $25 in points... and you'll be getting the second installment on 11/18... so you're betting Sears stays afloat for 3 weeks.

I've done a couple of the "Buy $$$, Get $$$ Back" deals... my advice is that you have something lined up to buy as soon as the points are issued... especially since the points only last 14 days.

You can get that deal anywhere anytime, so it is the $50 of points that make it a deal. I have had problems redeeming points, and Sears is kinda shaky, so you have to think about that.

The drill driver is their light duty Compact model. Fine for home owners. There are more powerful d/d in their 20V line.

If you do decide to pull the trigger, remember to add a small item like one of these:

https://www.sears.com/cm-3-4-clamp-micro-spring/p-00931495000P
https://www.sears.com/stanley-5-pk-1992-heavy-duty-utility-blades/p-00972250000P

... or a couple of the keychains or carpenter's pencils so you can use the $10 off $100 coupon on their website. You can use coupons with the cashback deals... so long as your actual spend meets the $50 minimum.

Had about $20 that was going to start expiring tonight so I had to find something to buy... Man it is getting slim pickings at my hometown store for tools (according to the website). Lots of L&G stuff though...

Interesting thing, when I filtered ratchets to show just that store, it didn't show the stubby (which was what I was interested in). But then when I changed it to filter Sears, clicked on the stubby, it showed in-stock & the option to pickup up at my hometown store... Website glitches do not surprise me... But just a head's up if you are filtering by your store you might be missing out on some items otherwise... Though I guess most of us have things 'saved for later' that we check on regularly anyhow...

Someone on SD spotted a new article mentioning some of Sears/Kmart's upcoming promotions: https://www.twice.com/retailing/attention-sears-and-kmart-shoppers-were-open-for-business

" On the promotional front, Sears' "Dashing Through The Deals" holiday effort, launching tomorrow, will include Veterans Day and Family & Friends sales events and a five-hour Member Preview Night on Nov. 18, when Shop Your Way loyalty program members will have early access to all Black Friday doorbuster deals.

Kmart's counterpart campaign, "Holly Jolly Savings/Yule Love It," includes a Kmart Toy Book that's being mailed to 2 million shoppers and circulated in 8 million newspaper editions nationwide, and an Unsung Heroes sales event (Nov. 8-12) that will provide first responders, active and retired military, and teachers and nurses with an extra 10 percent off purchases.

In addition, Kmart will provide complimentary photos with Santa every Sunday from Thanksgiving weekend through Christmas week, and both chains will mount charitable efforts including a Heroes at Home fundraising campaign (Sears) to assist military families in need of critical home repairs, and contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital from the sale of holiday wrapping paper designed by the hospital’s young patients (Kmart). "

Veterans Day is Sun Nov 11. The F&F sale we know about is Nov 4-6.
