We found a NOS Diamond gold mine at a Berkeley estate sale this morning. We didn’t grab it all but I think we will be able to recoup our investment with just the adjustable wrenches. My wife spotted the S-K tools. The other two sales only produced a couple of pieces each.

Damn Don. Those NOS green handles go for stupid money on the bay. You should be able to do well.

Looking for the following Plomb Pebbles Wrench 3061

No kidding! I'll give Don a You **** even without knowing his purchase price! Well done!

SWMBO and I are headed up into New Hampshire for breakfast and a hardware store run this morning, and we'll swing by an estate sale mid morning to see what we can see.

Here's a before & after pic of that 3/8dr flex-head ratchet I picked up at an estate sale last week. It was rusty as heck but worked smoothly. I added a black hard handle off an old screwdriver.

Jack, cool find on h SO!

WTN, Nice find on the 228! I'm not sure if it was Y-M or M-Y in that era (they juggled that before setting, and starting to do YY.. The C series was 44-46 so even harder to say (if one # were outside of 5, 4, or 6 its obvious...)

I was out early and done before 8AM! Hit three stops and got something at two...

The Book light had never been used (the battery "ripcord" was still in place...)

that was stop #2, Stop #3 had the Starrett Calipers, Proto #2 Philips (Far less common than blade drivers IMO) the two MAC specialty pliers, and the Jar (destined to become a wood wick candle) Everything there was 25C each! :bounce:

I'm not even sure what the black pliers with the gold colord jaws are for!

SWMBO and I hit a local diner for breakfast and then two tile stores before finding something that fit both our tastes and our pocketbooks. By then it was after 10AM, so we figured we'd head over to what promised to be a mobbed estate sale. Arrving at the GPS-indicated addressed supported that expectation, with cars lining the rural two lane road for a quarter mile in at least one direction. After parking twice (first place the security guard said was likely to get me towed), I went in and joined SWMBO. Not a huge tool selection, but I found some interesting wrenches in the garage and more tools in the basement.
SWMBO found two jackets and other winter sportswear. At checkout, I paid less for the tools ($5) than she did for the clothes!

Stanley All-N-One measuring tool with original retail card, explaining the numerous features and used of the glorified miter slide tool
2 Companion-brand DBEs
Craftsman DBE
Proto LA DBE
Bonney 7/8" SOE with most of its original black paint
Underline-C Craftsman DOE
Utility knife--because I'm always misplacing the ones I already own
Non-branded 1/2" Forsner-style drill bit
"3 1/2" tool post wrench, square, single ended, with what seems to be a lower case "y" inside of a diamond
Short Disston hand saw

Only three stops this morning.

Found what appears to be a NOS Sylvania tube caddy with the cantilevered aluminum tray insert($25). Klein 10in1 for $1.50.

Dave very cool find on the Sylvania case! the Tube amp freaks would be drooling and it should be worth quite a bit more than what you paid IMO!

Mostly those were used by TV repairmen for making house calls, as many people with big console TVs didn't want to have to bring it into a shop...

I can remember many a time using the tube testers at grocery stores and the like back in the day! Good times!

Picked up these vise grips at an estate this morning for 2 dollars. First time I ever seen one like this. Has three different places for a ball head mount. Paperwork is dated 1978. Everything came in the original box, doesn't look like they were ever used. Original Dewitt Petersen model 7CR.

My job was cleaning out our garages. Got all this stuff free. Mostly Proto mixed with Craftsman. Hand full of NAPA sockets. Need to clean the hammer heads to see brand.

Looks like RE Products Re-Engineered (RE?) them for photographers. Very Cool--but probably not very popular with shutterbugs.

Outlaw,
Thanks for the info. I know nothing about Coleman lanterns but have seen them posted here enough to know it might be worth something to someone. I was taking my last look around the garage and looked up and saw it hanging from the rafters. Reached it by using a long handled ice chopper. It was part my little bundle of items that day but dont figure I paid more than $10 for it.

Sgs236,
Cool black finish on that Vise-Grip, neat find.

Picked up this 18”x22”x32” cast iron table which has a 1” thick steel top. Got this little vise with it. It’s a bummer that the slide support is broken off but it cost me nothing. I think it’s clipper tool co out of Buffalo, NY. The table was listed at $100 but I got both for $90.

The table is an incredible find!

Are you sure the vise base had the support busted off? that base is very thin for any support to be useful... Did it have the "gusset" cast in and that also broke off?

Didn't see any sales that looked particularly good, but went to one anyhow just for kicks. Does that make me an addict?? I couldn't resist the carbide light - I even have a couple of cans of carbide sitting around. It's missing its flint, but I expect it's the same as cig lighters - easy to find. Don't know what brand the wrenches are, but they're US made, look sturdy. The vise has a real vintage look to it - anyone know about how old it is? Stanley still makes a vise like this, but it's pretty different looking. Nine bux for all.

Bob the 700 was made in may variants and that was just Stanley. Other companies made similar designs, some of steel some of aluminum some similar to yours some that has a more structural iron look. Champion was one of those. I have at least three of this style.

I like the carbide lamp. I wish I could find some carbide cheap...

Jack the lug wrench is interesting, better pics? is that a crank handle?

the bronze tools are always interesting! I've no seen a crowfoot before...

I picked up 3 smalls today for a couple bucks while out with the wife. Passed on a few things also as I didn't want to pay the asking prices.

1. Craftsman Crown Label, S.A.E. -V- series, rough finish, midget box wrench set no. 4379. Think its missing the 5/16-11/32 wrench.

2. S-K no. 7206 USA pliers. Should clean up nicely.

3. Wagner Lockheed Brake Fluid 21 metal 'Cone Top' can 12oz. for my vintage can collection

First flohmarkt of the year and luckily the weather wasn't bad. Duck bill and Knipex circlip pliers, two Matador Mercedes Benz wrenches, and an old Blackhawk DBE 25/32 x 3/4 wrench. $5 for all. I also grabbed a Faber Castell compass.

Guy at the store told me it was from an aircraft mechanic that passed away. No idea how old it all is or brands. Paid 1.- per item in case any of you wondered.

Does anyone know what the Joar tool is for?

Jack, Probably need an AP mech to weigh in on the Joar. What size is the lug wrench? if not for car lug bolts I'm thinking AP as well?

It's a conduit wrench. I have a few. I have a bunch of Jo Mfg tools. Instead of model numbers, they named all their tools, starting with Jo. There's the Joar, Jote, Joda, etc. All different tools. Bigtime aircraft tools supplier during WWII and after. If you really want to have some fun, we have a thread on Jo down on the Vintage board,, and it attracted a grandson of the owner, who used to work there in the 60's as a teen. His father is still alive and he has shared a lot of stories and info. Link here.

The hinged/swivel lug wrench is British. The thing that looks like a crow's foot is a Ministry of Defence broad arrow. Also probably WWII. Looks like you hit a wartime aircraft mech's stuff. Very cool.
