Does this count?
Jet JMD-18 mill/drill.
Free from work cleanout. Barely used (for prototyping only).
I have the table and stand (disassembled for transport). Have a line on a vice, will need to buy arbor(s), tooling, etc.
Mike
Thanks. Also got a couple of old 4-drawer steel filing cabinets.
Might get a couple of tables, too. Including one that raises and lowers with a crank. Not really sure what that's for...
Mike
A free milling machine? You ****.
Post a picture of the table, whether you take it or not. There’s a few situations where flexible height would be advantageous (workpiece layout, assembly), but the construction (or branding and model number) of the table would be the biggest clue to its use.
mike:
As said, you definitely **** on that deal. A mint condition JET mill ($2500 new) for free?? No tooling? Maybe somebody else grabbed that. I’m sure you’re not complaining.
Estate Sales from the past...
(Staying at home going through stuff...)
I found this Wilton Shop King I picked up for $20. Estate sale price tag still attached.
Thanks guys. Sorry that i haven't posted back in this thread in a while.
Work has been insanely busy. I've even been working on weekends (which totally *****, being a salaried employee). Makes these "freebies" seem less "free" but still fun to grab!
I keep forgetting to take pics of that lift table, will try to remember to do that.
I did finally the Jet mill/drill into my garage (turned into a mini ordeal). It's still in pieces, need time to get a mobile base made from some other free stuff I got at work (large stainless mobile bases for mini clean rooms). I have a separate thread with more pics here:
https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=446274
I've also acquired more "free" stuff, cleaning out Dad's basement [was previously my Grandfather's (maternal grandmother's second husband, who recently passed away)]. Nothing of monetary value, but I got three vices, two circular saws, a unique drill press and a couple of boxes of tools, mostly Craftsman. Also a Suncast plastic shed.
My grandfather was awesome at pulling stuff out of work (he has at least a half dozen Metro racks, which I'll also be taking when Dad moves out later this month). That's where the DP came from, I have a thread here:

And, two accordions, which were extremely poorly stored (hardware on the cases is very rusty, and everything smells musty). Those may cost more to restore than they'll ever be worth monetarily. But, my Dad says they belonged to my grandparents [maternal grandmother (RIP 11 years ago) and grandfather, her first husband, who was a professional musician, had his own band and played locally as a second job (RIP for almost 40 years)]. This is the only musical instrument that came to me (my sister got a flute when he died, everything else went to one of my uncles).
I wasn't able to help my parents during two prior cleanouts/moves, and I'm sure that I missed out on tons more stuff over the years. Nothing especially valuable, but I can definitely see how this could turn into a fun hobby!!!
