Picked up these two Craftsman -V- ratchets today. One is a 44975 and the other is a 44985. The 44975 has the quick release mechanism that pops through the 1/2dr boss. The 44985's quick release is internal to the 1/2dr boss.

Also the 44975 has an oil ball in the head.

Scored a nice cracked Wilton at an estate sale today. The guy had lots of old stuff. Like 100+ year old stuff.

BB, Try to blow AWAY from the tuner box and don't blow inside that box with any but very low pressure. That is a fairly sensitive thing and your usually better off not messing with it.

What is inside or on the cage at the back? I'm guessing that is the amps power transistors.

Does it count if it's a curb find while looking for a yard sale? [emoji16]

Saved this Honda PW from going to the landfill.

Got it home and did an oil change, cleaned the filter, new spark plug, fresh gas and filled the tires up with air. Works great and has a newer pump. Only needs a hose and wand and that's it.

Recent eBay score. It has already been posted in the correct threads but figured I did all right and that people might want to see it since the pickings are slim at the moment .
I picked up this 9/32 snap on made Craftsman marked drive set off eBay for just under $25 shipped . I don’t know how long it was listed but thought I should probably hop on it? This C series set was made by snap on for only a handful of years. Set included the sockets and extension and t handle. This size didn’t include a ratchet. The box and tools are stamped but it was a period modification so I can’t complain. Not much of the logo left but oh well. Most of the brown wrinkle paint is still present and no rust ! Set was made until 1935 when the catalog shows both snap on and new Britain or hinsdale made tools. This 10 PC set was 98 cents.

Thanks. I'm amazed at how many adjustable components there are on the board, and how primitive the circuit traces and wiring are on the bottom side! And yes, there are definitely power components in the cage--I spotted heat sinks inside.

So we hit some Garage and Estate Sales today.

One tool guy had lots of stuff but all of them items I already had multiples of and didn't see a need for more.

The last sale was a couple getting ready to downsize to Florida. He had a Columbian D5 D56 vise on his bench marked for $25.

I have a chinese Wilton on my inside bench and a MONSTER Columbian awaiting a home, so the "already have enough rule" should have applied but it didn't.

I'm playing workbench Tetris here so the Wilton might go with the bench to a nephew and the new Colombian could end up on a "spare" workbench that's in the driveway right now.

I need to build a heavy bench for the MONSTER so that one continues to sit on the side like a shy teenager at the dance.

Cheers

Jim

Now that is for sure a "You ****" price! Great find!!

Pickup from CT - I saw an ad in CT and got interested in SK set. I had a friend driving not too far from the sellers location. Life keeps proving - do not trust people too much even when they have the best intentions...

Saw an ad on FB Marketplace for an Equipto cabinet today and had to jump on it.

Made it to the sellers and found out it had several tools in it still and I could take it empty or spend another $100 and get the tools. I left with the cabinet and tools for less than $250. The cabinet has some collision damage, but I have it almost all pulled out already.

The tool photo is about half of what was in it.

All USA stuff except for some Gedore wrenches.

Starrett, Morse, Craftsman, Channel Lock, Irwin etc. Lots of countersinks, small end mills, and more allen wrenches than I could ever possibly need.

Second box: no name
Craftsman BE ratchet with amber handle. Unfortunately there is a large crack on the other side (this tool was a reason for second box)
Indestro forged ignition wrench set, missing one
Bonney 424B DOE 9/16-5/8
Barcalo Buffalo DBE 13/16-7/8
SK DOE 13/16-7/8
Craftsman angled tool of unknown purpose
Futone tool for drum brake spring
Kraeuter cutters
Dayton stubby screwdriver
Random hardware, allen wrenches, couple of small random wrenches

$30 (for both boxes #1 and #2)

I guess I will sell the marked tools. Not sure what to do with the Craftsman BE ratchet yet - the plastic cover is broken. I could keep it as is or take it off. Will have to look up how rare it is - these appear to show up infrequently...

Spent a bit of time driving to various sales yesterday and today. A few of them sounded good, but ended up being dead ends. Oh well, so it goes. But I did find a few things:
Fridays 3 or 4 sales gave up the following:

Starrett No. 1 wire cutters, various vintage sockets (Plomb, Proto, Williams, Armstrong, etc) Proto LA ratchet (I must have a half dozen of these, but I cannot resist when they are a buck or two) two Proto midget six points I needed, lamp mount bracket, and two Ell wrenches. Why did I pick those up? Well:

about $20 for all of that.

Anyway, today found me doing the same, and picking up the following:

$5 each on the Proto chevrons

And $5 for the Penens wrenches, Blue Point ignition wrench and misc. Proto and Plomb sockets. All in all, not too shabby.

Here’s one that I saw but the seller didn’t want to part with his Heritage machinist’s box. He paid $50.00 for it a few years ago at the Tahoe flea.

Did the reverse last week on this Matco (the one on the floor. Seller wanted $100 with the tools. I offered $50 without. He agreed and proceeded to remove a Rubbermaid bin full of broken hacksaws, mongrel screwdrivers, used paintbrushes. undetermined household stuff. I did get him to leave me the one PowerCraft wrench. I'm going to swap out the Cornwell box (it's racked).

This box popped up on CL yesterday ending my tool drought. At first I thought it might just be the remnants of an S-K 4088 socketchest set (see d42jeep's in the Vintage S-K Tools thread) but it turned out to be mixed bag of decent stuff. Some Bonney, Billings, BluePoint, Williams and S-K wrenches. Most of the 1/2” and 3/8” sockets that would have been in the S-K 4088 set. Some Craftsman (Circle H). The box has a lot of surface rust on the outside. Inside is in excellent condition. I’m not sure with the badge placement of the box where it fits in the S-K production timeline but the handles are black and held in with slotted machine screws. Mid 50s or earlier is my current guess.

Nice hauls gentlemen!

Smoke I just picked up the same CM speeder and it's the corroding of the aluminum and the subsequent loss of chrome that gives it that two-tone look. Mine has just a hint of it.

The rest of yesterday's haul:

J.H.Williams 1/2dr S-52 Superratchet
Proto 1/2dr 10" extension #5463
Proto 3/8dr 12" extension #5262
Proto Challenger 3/8dr Universal #1280
Proto R 3/8dr Screwdriver Socket #5240
Proto Challenger 3/8dr 2-1/2" extension #1265

$7.50 for the group.
$3 for the CM Speeder
$2 for a gallon can of Mineral Spirits
