Couple of people alluded to it. The roller was a modern Waterloo, sold by the time I got there. No creeper that I saw. Wooden box was nothing special, ditto the hanging light. However, this is only the second craftsman machinist light I have seen in the wild (first was part of a table saw set, and wouldnt separate). $16 brought it home. Will add the rest of the sale in a bit.1602872795180.jpg1602872808904.jpg1602872822380.jpg

When to five sales today, some good, some bad, one just meh.

The first one looked the most promising, but it turned out to be meh. A hot rodders shop, but most of the hand tools were gone, just cheap junk left, along with the grinders and presses and lathe that made it look interesting. So I just picked up a little read 1/4 socket box and moved on.The second stop was advertised as both an estate sale and a swap meet. And it was neither.

Third stop was a guy who built RC airplanes, and there was some good stuff there.

(The red box was from the first stop) 4" P&C adjustable, mini Channelock pliers, a can of vintage cutting fluid and an SK 1/4 set that also had a P&C extension in it. $10

Forth stop was the best by far. The home of guy who sharpened saws professionally from his house (also a very active wife, by the looks of things) there was a ton to look through, but it was packed with small rooms. So, I will go back on half-off day, but today I got:

Proto socket tray half full of Thorsen impacts, Starrett slide caliper in box with spare geometric C Craftsman copy, partial unused SK Wayne wrench set, Long C punch set in original pouch, and early P&C breaker bar (pre-Proto era) All of that was $25. And by the way, if you think the flippers are bad drivers, they got nuthin' on the little old lady at lunch crowd. I almost got run off the road a few time just trying to get out of there!

Last stop was a bust.

DO NOT ORDER!!
It's at least a suspected scam- eBay has deleted the listing and I haven't received mine as of 10/20.

Check ePay for Evaporust. 1 gal $16.99, free shipping. Not my listing, no interest except passing the word along. I ordered one- I think that leaves 9 available.

And plenty of our garage sale finds need some de-rusting!

Here are the rest of the finds. Not pictured is a Ridgid foot switch with cover plate. Left side is various consumables, along with mini bottles of 3-n1 and liquid wrench. Wooden box is an OLD Xacto set, wright box that says 3/8dr on the front label and a couple of Wright sockets, PIERCE Arrow front adjusting, the feeler gauges are Starrett, the two sockets on top are SO triple square, a Craftsman box (Transitional, great shape on top) with about half a set, and tommy bar(!), national ruler co ruler, trutest 15/16 combo, and Indestro Flare nut wrench (7/8, 1 1/8?). Right side is an old leather wallet with chain, snaps are 1979 & 1980 nickels. Also got a Ridgid strap wrench, 1/4" tube bender, and (because I noticed one earlier upthread) a pencil sharpener with ears. Vacuum grip is still in great shape, and metal is super clean!

And the heritage machinist lamp I already posted about, overall was $54. I am tempted to go bck tomorrow to see if I can make a deal on a Milwakee Porta-band and stand, along with a couple of other smaller things that were priced too high for me.IMG_20201016_180723.jpegIMG_20201016_180829.jpg

I went to a sale out in the country today and dug through bins sorted by item and pulled these items out. I went originally for the Proto flying lady carry box but I went at the end of the day and wasn’t sure if it would still be there. I couldn’t see a price in the listing but figured my old truck needed to be driven and it was a sunny fall day here so I figured why not...
I paid $15 for everything. I talked the seller down from $20[emoji23][emoji41]

Proto la carry box
P&c 1244 pliers which are pretty big
1-1/16 combo
1/2 speed handle and exposed gear ratchet
1” socket

4 snap on sockets

Plomb
1” combo
1/2 and 9/16 deeps that someone hammered on [emoji849][emoji36]
1130 dbe

Proto caulking chisel
Proto 1/2 drive -7/8 and 15/16

Mac 3/8 knurled extension

Sk 10mm deep

Craftsman long c- groove handle wire cutters
=v= 1/2 drive extension
21/32 long c socket
Oval impact logo sockets

Small 5” vise grips

Not a bad way to spend $15!

It looks like it was flying lady day in the northwest! Nice work on the red tray goodness and the early p&c hinge handle! Those punches with the pouch are not very common to find together!

Nice hauls everyone! I'll add my 1/4" box to the couple that were posted today.

attachment.php

The box had everything pictured inside for $2.25, except for the 1/4" S-K Tools ratchet, which was an extra 75 cents.
The six sockets in the tray were the only things in it that were original to the box: =v=.
Three other sockets were different CM series and one is an Action.
Partial CM ignition set.
Herbrand 1/4" flex handle.
Snap-on STM6 3/16 deep.
Williams 5/8 to 1/2 adapter. I didn't realize they ever made a 5/8" drive.

I don't need another top box--especially with only two drawers, so I left the Blackhawk behind.

No purchases for me this weekend as I continue to quarantine after returning to Mass, awaiting my negative test result. But I did sell Dad's bandsaw, jointer and my Delta Shaper to a young man setting up his own wood shop for a fair sum. More than fair for the shaper, as I quintupled my money from a deal from a few years ago. Still got a lot of stuff to move, but am adding to Mom's nest egg...and my Impala project budget.

Nice job on the Proto gear, gents! Good luck to the rest of you this weekend.c8dd2865b2bb2a3d3548ace41b466bed.jpg793f4ba50a9453c0f5ac540e280b15c4.jpgd66b8307fe47ed1730743a201ecdd209.jpg

I believe you were referring to Bmwrd0 and I in terms of the Proto complements? Thanks! It is good I didn’t go to this one with Bmwrd0 as I think he would have tried to ****** it from me[emoji23]

I’ve had a pretty good weekend even before it started. One my favorite finds is the Plvmb 5431. Out of the hundreds of sockets I have acquired, I had yet to find a 31/32, until today. A personal best of some sorts I guess.

It's been very quite here for the last six months, while still technically in level 3 lockdown, with the probability of that going up to level 4 or Highest level 5...
Risked a stop in at the guy I buy from sometime away from the carboot market, he sells there as well.
What I'm taking to be a dolly, no name that I can see, blue point 10mm 3/8 deep socket.
Interesting little offset screwdriver made by Maun industries LTD. In England, will research this one further.
146-A2 circlip pliers by knipex, looks unused, strangely package has draper on it and correct knipex sticker?
Priory 1/4 wad punch in good condition and then what I was really happy to find, a Snail brand double open spanner, it's a set I'm trying to keep adding to, this is no. 2 which I didn't have, now have 2, 3, 5, 6, & 17! My monster!

The Duro/D-I set at the top of your picture is similar to one currently on eBay with a price of $125.00 shipped. I guess that makes my several sets more valuable? It looks like you are just missing the ratchet and the 1/2” to 3/8” adapter and maybe a socket.

Some awesome finds this week everyone. Lots of great socket sets.

Some shout outs:

WNYflyer gets a You ****! on the complete Vulcan set. Metric too. Heck, that’s a tough find!

DKroth gets a You ****! On the $8 torque wrench.

Lugz, nice find on the little Herbrand! That’s been an elusive one for me.

LS, nice find on the Bon-E-Con! That’s also been an elusive one for me.

Old Radar, some nice old socketry there.

Maineiacmoose, hello and nice tool boards. I like the TRW stuff.

Mister Bill, excellent find on the box of tools!

The rest of you guys, also some awesome old finds in the hand tool and tool storage department.

Beautiful morning at the flea market. I got out there early, scored a few cool items, and left happy.

K-D alternator and AC kits.

A little surprise in the one set, the yellow box, which contains bearings. I didn’t realize it said Sparta. Possibly from a 3/4 ratchet rebuild kit? A nice NB piece for this ratchet collector regardless!

I just put the green case there as a little teaser. :p

Just kidding. Not my style.

It’s a nice 3/8” Thorsen set from back when tools were tools, men were men, and Texas Sears stores were selling retread tires for 10-15 bucks. :shocking: Too bad I can’t find a date on the newspaper. :lol_hitti It has that great old smell to it though, like it was in an attic, not a basement.

Other than some minor use/ rust on a couple sockets, and someone saying “I’ll show you!” to the spark plugs by cranking the socket with Channellocks or something, the set looks great, almost new.

I picked up these 2 Proto la catalogs off eBay for less than $11 shipped [emoji23][emoji41] I put in a last minute bid online and thought for sure I would be out bid but no... shipping cost double the cost of the items . 1951 and 1953 and the 1951 even has the price sheet insert! I was pretty excited about it. I only have a 1962 Proto catalog but it is the bigger size.

Nice grab on those catalogs.

Some misc. tools from the flea.

-Record Ridgway double end bit. For some reason the seller thought made in England was the wildest thing ever. :wtf:

-assorted 3/8 socket rail: Proto, Snap On, Plomb, Master Mech, Cman, NB, Husky, Thorsen

-Duro Chrome ratchet. Had to get it. I didn’t have this model.

- Blackstone screwdriver. Not familiar with that name.

-6” Walworth wrench

-Plomb and Blackhawk wrenches

-Pliers are an extra long nose made in W. Germany, Snap-On vac grip handle, Klein

-Germantown claw hammer

-Craftsman clamps

Lugz, nice find on the little Herbrand! That’s been an elusive one for me.
It could be yours in a matter of days! Just say the magic red plasti-dipped words that start with "B", end in "Co.", and have an "M" in the middle! :)

It’s a nice 3/8” Thorsen set from back when tools were tools, men were men, and Texas Sears stores were selling retread tires for 10-15 bucks. :shocking:

Any of you Buffalo guys visit that honey hold in East Aurora this weekend?

I had Pasquale's pizza for lunch afterward, too.

The little Walco pipe wrench has the year of manufacture on the side of the handle. I think I see ‘42?

Good eye. Looks like 42 J on the handle and 42 G on the Jaw. I was unaware of them having dates.

Any of you Buffalo guys visit that honey hold in East Aurora this weekend?

I had Pasquale's pizza for lunch afterward, too.

Not I. I really should change my location because I only live in Florida. Lots of tools? Never had the chance to eat there.

Some awesome finds this week everyone. Lots of great socket sets.

Some shout outs:

WNYflyer gets a You ****! on the complete Vulcan set. Metric too. Heck, that’s a tough find!

Thanks 3bay, always jonesing for the Vulcan stuff which there is quite a bit of around here but most is SAE, lucky to find metric.

Very nice haul from the flea that you got there. I especially like the Duro Chrome ratchet, can't say that I have ever seen one like that. Very nice score

Excellent score on the Alemite roller seat, saw that in the photo's, that thing is cool

I did not not make it down there but it certainly looked like a really good one. I see it continues tomorrow, did they have much in the way of mechanics tools ? looks like they had a lot nice petroliana/advertsing, antique stuff.

It was a big pole barn full of stuff. A decent amount to tools and lots of interesting automobilia and gasolinia, too. Miscellaneous pieces of Herbrand, Blackhawk, SK and specialty stuff. There was a nice Bonney top box that should clean up with just soap and water. Prices were high, but tomorrow is 50% day.

Not much of the big tool truck names, but there were bits and pieces of Blackhawk, Herbrand and SK as well as a bunch of pliers, screwdrivers, adjustables, pullers, slide hammers, hardware, etc. Mostly older, quality stuff.

FYI, there was a Vulcan wrench rack, maybe 10" x 12", backer was made of cardboard. It was probably more for packaging than toolbox storage. No wrenches. He was asking $18. It was still there when I left at ~2:00 PM. It was with what was left of the sockets.
