The ratchet is 1/4 drive never seen one like it. And the milling bit I would be guessing brand new I have zero use for it. Probably gonna flip that but no idea what they’re worth.

Old pair of Utica 50-8 lineman pliers today for a buck. Metal Rescue bath, then a Kerosene bath, wire brush, then wire wheel and heat shrink grips.

Don't know about the ratchet, but the end mill's probably a $25 item on Ebay. Some other brand end mills are being offered for a lot more.....

I pulled a few more tools out of the mini -stash I brought back from Dad's garage last weekend.

Craftsman hacksaw--nothing special about it other than it has his name scribed into it and is the one I learned metal sawing on...

Craftsman 11/32" DOE

Tahlen "NO-BOUNCE" hammer

Rex #27 rivet setter with a "PAT Oct 9 1900" date on it.67586f11b5201cd7b910819ace2902a3.jpgbae549fcbc66781bb1d2380197e3beaa.jpge108f4065e9d9a7c3efc8fac4a2a1ce7.jpg

And I got his magnifying lamp installed in the new garage. I think he and I picked identical lamps at a sale a few years ago when he came up for a visit. I have its mate in the old garage.

Dang, I just looked up what these are going for on Ebay! All the ones on there are in better shape than this on, but I'll definitely treat it better than I might have otherwise...

Your dad, your keepsake, but man that would look great all spiffed up on a mantle! It's a terrific raised logo. Conversation piece.

Clean it up, get a small anvil and use it for fireside black walnut cracking. Guaranteed to keep grand kids busy for hours. And small dogs, dogs love when the grand kids have food items.

Just finished unloading this. Spotted on Marketplace this morning and headed straight up to Dallas as soon as we agreed on a price. $340. It will take a lot of work but I intend to restore it and put it to work. KR560

I loved getting surprised when I buy a box of goodies.
Came across 4 boxes of 12 gauge shotgun shells along with some .32s and a wood box of 22LRs.

I grab them mainly for the shotgun shells, my brother shoots clays now and then. I looked up the wood box and it turns they are selling for $100 on ebay.

AL FREELAND WOOD CEDAR AMMO BOX FOR .22 - 50's era

Al Freeland was a champion shooter and rifle designer but dang thats a pricey cedar box !

...yesterday I visited the dragon hoard of tools owned by Tin Medic and traded my recent Snap-on finds for a generous load of J.H. Williams. Thanks TM!

Picturing Steve sprawled out on top of a massive pile of tools with a WWII-era flamethrower at the ready.

I pictured this.....e1ea6ba159be2b6928730f76b3cd5840.gif

I'll leave it to Steve to post a wide angle view of his hoard--sans flamethrower. For photographic purposes, it's unfortunate that he organized the huge pile that was in the middle of the floor.

Since we don't have a B.S.A. tools thread, here is that signal mirror...

Lugz
, we now have a BSA tools thread, located on the vintage forum: https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=8745357#post8745357 So far, it only has one post, with one 80s vintage knife, so if anyone has BSA gear to show off, like this signal mirror, or a BSA hatchet, feel free to pile on!

RedVise, that Freeland ammo box is VERY nice! I like that enough that I might just be willing to make one of my own. Wish I knew what happened to the 10 round block I made as a kid...

Outlaw, welcome back!

Here are my weekend pickups, all 1/2" dr:
15" Husky breaker, to go in my MVMTS (upgrade to match the Husky sockets/ratchet)
Craftsman 1/2" RHFT ratchet (needs some love - losing chrome and the head seems to need cleaned out)
Craftsman 7/8" socket
P&C 19/32" socket

Here are my weekend's finds, all from the same place I bought a few weeks back. Normally he has lots of rusty metal. Found a few shiny items, and a few not. The Jorgensen clamp was my first grab, and gets me back to pairs at that size. Added the Stanley framing square with the rafter tables. The Champion deArment channelock 420s were next, then I found a bit of shiny in a basket of rust. Dug down a bit, I saw a Proto text logo. Dug some more, fished out a pair of bent pliers, #203. Rare here due to not being rusty. The aluminum Lufkin zigzag ruler is actually complete, with the only apology being a few slightly sprung joint. The tin snips are Diamalloy Duluth, missing the nut off the pivot, will see if I can get one at the hardware store. the vernier calipers were bought on the off chance they hardware might be a donor for a nicer 4" pair I have, but this knurled nut was even smaller than I needed.

Does the box have a hinged drop down front for access to the main compartment under the removable tray?

The hatchet is old and rare. Germantown is a section of Philadelphia settled by Germans, as you might expect. GTW was small, and GTW tools are uncommon (and those marked only Germantown, pre logo, even rarer), even right here (I've only found a couple hammers), and I'm even more surprised you found that in the PNW.

No drop down front access panel on the Sherman-Klove toolbox.I posted a few more pics on the vintage toolbox thread:
https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=8738416

Interesting comments about Germantown Tool Works, Lugs! Small world but I lived in Germantown/East Falls for 4 years while in grad school overlooking Wissahickon Park. I was not a tool guy back then however. The GTC axe/hammer likely dates from before 1919 as the name changed GTW to Griffin after that.

SORRY!! about my tip on Evapo-Rust item 303724279992 ebay. The listing has been removed by 'bay, I have not yet received the Evap. Sounds like they at least suspect it was a scam. New seller, only 5 feedbacks, but then we all started at zero.

I've sent a request for refund or proof of shipment. I hope none of you have gotten caught up in this ... whatever it is.

eBay is keeping quiet about whatever the situation is - if it's a scam, it's a clever one since the price was only a buck or two lower than the next lowest. Not so cheap as to be just impossible.

If any of you have gotten mixed up in this, I'm truly sorry; I was only trying to help!!

:lol_hitti I bookmarked that seller thinking when I used up my current supply of Evapo-Rust, here was an alternative seller other than Wally World. Interestingly enough, he's still listed as a seller but ALL of his items have been taken down. Seeing that he's located in another country, you are probably right about the items being a scam....

$30 for everything but the Trenton 100# anvil. That was reasonable, but not THAT reasonable

Sent from my Pixel 2 using The Garage Journal mobile app

I do like seeing the anvils. The anvil I picked up this year, my first, is also a trenton stamped 99 and weighed in on my scale 97. So far I have just wheeled off the rust and oiled it. Plan to mount it on a log I cut earlier this year when time allows.

What do you plan for yours?

Nice neighborhood. I'm trying to think of what school is up there. Drexel Med? Thomas Jefferson? Chestnut Hill, but no postgrad work there.

Yes, the Queen Lane campus of Medical College of Pennsylvania- Haneman University, now Drexel. Formerly Women’s Medical College of Pennsylvania.
