Aluminum in your planer???? First time i've seen that....
Never heard of it even being tried.....

In theory high speed steel blades on aluminium is the same as high speed steel end mill on aluminium,
but in this case mega surface area to be cut.
Spiral cutting head with carbide inserts would be way less power needed, but no way would i even consider doing it. (n)

Had a survey at work and thought I’d share one of my answers. 4533F158-CFC7-4D17-B35D-5FBFCD929704.jpeg
First weld on the new bench. Sometimes it takes a lot of nut to weld right. A687541A-E2E3-4681-A688-B88092F2FA27.jpeg

no more horizontal bandsaw tipping over while using. 👍
Your shop is starting to get boring.
Fixing things so they don’t tip over .

I’m sorry. I’ll report some blood shed from today’s activities.
Started the day off going to an estate sale, Camping World and a gun shop. $2 for a long roll of copper ground wire. 🤗. I got a low tire pressure alert so headed to shop.

4EEB3D15-C7A9-4C22-8D34-FE8417483F1C.jpeg

Off to Discount Tires. Also had to do this again. B2B36DBE-0495-48F1-B7B9-F930A38C87A1.jpeg
Luckily the light stayed off so I could wiggle wires. Found the connector at the bulb was lose. So I added a zip tie. 846447D3-0848-4A02-A539-881CB1F6CC1D.jpeg
Don’t know how long that will last because that part of the bulb gets pretty hot.

Couple of small projects. Craig picked up these drawers for me while at a sale. Marine mechanic so SS hardware. Moved everything to one drawer and added some SS hardware I already had. DC4617B2-3AB7-4A03-AEA0-0F93B070E1F8.jpeg
Found a perfect piece of scrap that already had a nice bend in it so mounted a power strip on the welding bench. The width is a perfect 90° wing stop. Also added a hole as a gun holder. Not sure how well it will work though. C6A7028B-EB93-4594-80F4-760E658A81A8.jpeg
Ended the day doing Safety First. I broke a ceiling fan globe and didn’t want to just throw it in the trash can so put it in a box. While pushing the lid down, I got a surprise jab through the lid. It was a gusher. 5619A34C-EE93-4112-B35F-23FACAE40522.jpeg

Also stopped by the Parthenon and the State Capitol. Another capital off my list. Afterwards went down Broadway (Music row). What a zoo. 7E0CED26-2098-4FE6-9815-C38CB1CEC522.jpegReminds me of Bourbon St. and 6th Street, (Austin)
I guess the new trend is the party barge.

Saw this gas station behind the Marathon Auto factory (American Pickers)

And finished the day with a cold one at Twin Peaks.

That first car was featured in Chasing Classic Cars recently. Wayne Carini did the 'restoration' and visited the Lane in the episode.

Not much to report. I’ve always wanted a roll of paper mounted at the end of a bench so it was easy to use. Instead of making them, I figured HF towel rack would be perfect since this will be on a metal bench top. Since the numb was a little big, I fired up the lathe. 9AFD02D7-A8BB-4427-84DF-FAB467737BB7.jpeg
I got lucky with the top being just the right width. Just hope I remember it’s there. 🤪

in prep for the first weld up project on the bench, made up some of them $30 clamps for $5.

The bench in action.

Having the stops form a 90 really helps. I check with a carpenter’s square and was right on. Once clamped, you can verify your dimensions and see if any trimming is required. Extremely happy even with the high cost to cut holes.

Another little project I’ve wanted and came together with a brain fart. HF magnetic bar, two wheels from the surprise caster tote, scrap from the scrap bucket, and cocked eye threading, a magnetic sweep. Works great, but could use a handle. 57BE5F9E-4FF9-47E2-85D9-34B8A256E9D6.jpeg

Neat stuff.
You can wrap the mag bar with plastic, makes cleaning metal shavings a lot easier.

You have really taken those salvage cabinets to a new level, I always knew the orange one was going to be awesome!

Waterjet is great, but next time take the money and invest in a mag drill. Those holes would have taken longer to layout than to drill.

I need to put another cabinet on the wall for my helmet, hanging on the bottle dont cut it
A lot nicer having it in the drawer and quickly accessible

Thanks. Amazing what two nitwits can conjure up.
I thought about buying a mag drill. Haven’t really had much call for one plus the difference in cost of water jet and drill was still a lot of $. I was offered a loaner if I brought the cutters but decided on water jet because I also had to cut the plate for the wing and wanted a nice **** joint when wing was in the up position.

Getting back to the long list of waiting projects.

What a difference having this set up makes.

I think these safety stands for my lift are around #300 on the to do list. Yes they’ve been on list a long time.

That welding table looks like its doing an awesome job. And the welding cart looks killer too. Way to go!

Looking forward to seeing whatever you dream up next!

I think I have another customer. While at the shop this week checking the wife’s tire, one of the guys across the street was leaving work and yelled out, “Those are your shop shoes?” I responded back with “You haven’t heard of Florida Shop Shoes? You got to go to FloridaShopShoes.com and get some!” 😄

A great way to start some QST is with some good QZT. Fell asleep in the recliner and woke up at 10:30 AM. 🙂
First up was to get the right hose for my new regulator.
3A645F6F-0C7A-4A97-AF1A-3A637B747BC3.jpeg
I like this with positive feedback vs. unknown sticky gauges.
Next up was another grinder hanger made from scrap leftover from weld cart dolly. I’m really liking the new welding bench and having everything right there.
Put some stuff back in the loft so I’d have more floor space. One item was a questionable motor. Little bird said Let it go….6FC5154A-1051-44F2-9450-5ACC29AE82A3.jpeg
Now I can afford new Florida Safety shoes.
Another project in waiting was trash can dolly. Scrap flooring from original loft and some press in casters from the mystery caster tote.

This lead to two 3+ year projects. Plastic angle crank on table saw finally gave up. Drill new wheel out .10 and had set screws already. Yay!

Amazing how much better it works. Will order one for height adjustment.
Last up is a modem shelf made out of an old cupped 1x10. Not pretty but works.

I call shenanigans, no blood. On the shelf, is it a shop or a man cave? Top priority in a shop is does it function. Pretty is a luxury

Every time I find a good place to store a framing square, the next time I need the square I can't remember where I stored it. Hope you have better luck than me.

when I did the back wall years ago I made a place for squares so I can always find.
Mac, I have 3 stored in different places. Gives me a little better odds on finding one of them.
Exactly, my problem is my two were both at the back so now on in back and one mobile.
