FNG here-thanks for the ADD. I have read several ICON tool storage threads and thought I would share mine.

I am by no means in the mechanical industry (IT Actually) but I do have a ton of tools, (6 large tool boxes to be exact). I went out looking for a large set-up and came across the ICON (jury is still out if that was a mistake or not) Ordered a 73" with a hutch SS top and two side lockers back in December. Put $8400 on an American Express 0% CC (mainly because HF card blows), with intent of paying it off when I got it. Made 2 payments(minimum) so far and no Icon in sight. My date keeps moving, It's so bad that I can call the customer service in the morning get a date and call in the afternoon of the same day and get another date (it's pretty sad) I really like what I saw in the store, and I'm trying to remain patient but I have a breaking point, I guess I'll know when they reach it.

Thanks for reading my Sob story.

More to follow when I call later this week.

See all them ships sitting off the coast of CA? Yea, that's where your box is at. No one knows how soon this will come to an end. But rest assured, it's not soon.
My advise, get a refund and look for one in stock at a store.
I hear you, i'm going to wait it out a few more weeks. I've looked at other Boxes in stock in the US (extreme) but I'm not feeling it...

Unless you are set on ICON the US general series 2 isn't bad. It's not a top of the line snap on box but it's far from junk. I am like you not a professional but do have a lot of tools for both automobile and machining. I have the 56" top and bottom combo. Also have the 26" box and cart. All of them seem pretty solid.

Welcome aboard Mike! Took more than 7 months to have my wife's 2020 made in Japan Nissan to finally arrive. Just about forgot about the darn thing (well, not really, but...). That said, I was in IT for some years. Such was the most demanding career I've ever been in (roofer, MC and then vehicle mechanic, home and vehicle security, and a 2 bay auto electric/electronics shop).

Good luck and we hope to hear good news soon!

Not set on Icon, but I did like what I saw in the store. No offense but the US General that I looked at was a definite step backwards in quality, that and they did not have what I would want in stock. Guess no matter what, I would have to be patient.

I have the older 18" US General 44" top, bottom and two sides, and I have to admit that the Icon was a huge step above in quality. I was amazed when I looked at the one my store has in stock.

Yeah their nice, I don't need that quality of the ICON box. It's more of a want. Time will tell................

Got burned on a bunch of furniture that got pushed out on the day of delivery but got the reminder call the day before to confirm the delivery. As long as all this "Covid" supply issues are going on I won't put anything on order. If its not physically in-stock I look elsewhere.

I bought at the beginning of last year the 56" US Gen toolbox, and the 14" hanging drawer set. For home use, I remind myself that the drawers are just holding tools. I could never justify snap-on money or essentially anything over $1,000 for a set of drawers. Even if I had deeper pockets, what's the benefit of Snap-On over USG? Smoother drawers? They can take 250 pounds of wrenches per drawer?

If I was looking to spend that kind of money I'd be considering working a deal on a truck box, eg snap-on/matco/etc.

I need to be able to get replacement parts in a couple years if need be, and HFT doesn't have a great track record for me in that area. I'll let it slide for the prices the USG stuff is going for, but not ICON.

A buddy recently had an "incident" with his roughly 10yo SO box. They were able to get it fixed for reasonable $$$ and fuss.

For what it's worth I'm also a homegamer and picked up the 72in USG Series 2 last year (maybe 2 ago? My internal clock is broken). I've been very happy with it, especially at the pre-covid pricing.

Curious, couldn't you have saved $830 by getting the HF credit card 10%?
Since you're just going to pay it off anyway
Couldn't have saved that much as the HBF credit card is a joke, I did apply, make over 175K a year with minimal bills. Only qualified for $2500. Wasn't worth my time or effort. Applied for a an AMX 0% card, got a credit limit of $40,000 and used that instead

I guess I didn't notice enough difference in quality to justify the offset in cost. I do like the depth of the ICON box and the hutch is nice but I have too many tools for a hutch. ICON prices got close to truck brands in my opinion and I don't open my drawers enough to justify ICON or truck brand boxes.

Ordered a similar setup, actually same just no hutch. Had the same issue with their card, I ended up writing an email to them onnthe issue. Why out 0% interest apply for card on a tool box they aren't gonna give a limit high enough to purchase it? The goal of the icon line is to compete with truck sales that function entirely off payment plans. So it seemed misleading. I was shocked when I got a phone call and a sympathetic ear that agreed, so my limit increased enough to make the purchase.

Called today got told my delivery date was the 23rd and I'd get a call to confirm it. Hopefully that's the truth.

I looked at other options and didn't find anything I liked as much.

Yeah I thought the credit card was a joke, glad you got it sorted. I just got a 40K AMX zero percent and went that route.

I called Yesterday and was told that my order was slated to be delivered by the 21st of February and that an e-mail had been sent to the delivery company to contact me. Time will tell..

How long ago did you order yours? I'm 2 1/2 Months into my painful wait. Like you, I have looked at several other options, none of which were on the same quality standard as ICON, other then tool truck boxes but they were 3-5K more expensive.

Yeah there's a significant difference between Icon, us general and most big box stores in the ICON quality. I was considering canceling but after looking at several online toolbox warehouses (that were in stock) the gauge of the metal was much thinner than what the ICONs are. The drawers were deeper at 30" but I have decided to wait for now.

You can get an 84" top/bottom for that much at strictlytoolboxes.com
Your correct, I looked at them. I'd have to spend $11, 585 to get similar. It would be 10" bigger on the tool chest, same size end locker and thinner metal.

Ordered mine second week of Jan so I've bit bee waiting quite as long as you have. For me quality was there but a lot ofnthe other options didn't include the power drawer. Since I mostly use milwaukke stuff for battery tools and I have quite a bit for a hobby-est I wanted it all in one place and I didn't see anything else in thst range that offered that without me having to rig it up in some form or fashion.

I'm excited to get it to say the least

I went with black for my setup i may pickup the stainless top later on. Have a similar background turned wrenches outta school but later put my degree to work. I'm still in automotive just onnthe engineering side now....... some might say I've gone from fixing to causing problems?

What about you what color you go for?

But also 5" deeper (30") throughout the whole thing. I've had one of those 84" for a few years and zero complaints. Drawers have been solid

I did IT once upon a time, my degree is in business administration so it lends to the lighter side of that well. I worked for AB for a few years as an IT coordinator, before I left for a more hands on in my current job which has morphed into test engineer for a diesel company.

I wish you could get the green trim for a blacked out box, but seems they haven't figured out how to market that stuff yet.

I worked as an IT Tech for several years and then became a Knowledge manager for a position in the department of the Army. Pays damn good. Sound like I would enjoy what your doing, I'm a fan of big diesel and big power trucks...lol

Thanks, did look at several other options, I like the lista but new it was Salty. I'm hopeful that I'll get what I ordered but skeptical at the same time.
