    Reed 403 1/2 A

Thanks Dave, I certainly appreciate the kind comments and help to a “newbie”. Like yourself, I totally don’t understand why someone would rather ***** instead of taking that same amount of time to actually try to help someone. Oh well, it’s a big world and takes all types I guess. I’m still...

    Reed 403 1/2 A

Thanks for the warm welcome to the forum. Btw, I did search before I wrote my post and couldn’t find anything regarding the part I need. As far as the two “mega threads”, I searched there too, but couldn’t find anything related to what I need, and right now I just don’t have the time to read...

    Reed 403 1/2 A

Thank you for your reply Dave. I’ll plan on making one then, and like you said it shouldn’t be too much of an issue. I’ll take a couple measurements with a caliper of the top and bottom diameter of the hole so I’ll know the correct taper. By chance would anyone be kind enough to take a few...

Does anyone have a Snap-On 1750 vise that hasn’t been repainted?

Thank you ! Exactly the kind of info I need for what I plan to do. One question though, and it’s probably my fault for not understanding completely. I can see that the vertical sides are unpainted, but is the horizontal section of the cast jaws that is immediately below the replaceable serrated...

Does anyone have a Snap-On 1750 vise that hasn’t been repainted?

Thanks guys for your responses. I was wondering why the BB code still wasn’t showing the picture, next time I’ll remember the correct sequence. I did see quite a few photos online of vises without the sides of the jaws painted, so I was pretty confident that was correct. However, it’s the...

Does anyone have a Snap-On 1750 vise that hasn’t been repainted?

I'd certainly appreciate a reply from someone who knows for sure. My story is I've inherited a couple vises from my Dad who recently passed, and in his memory I'd like to restore both of them. One is the Reed 403 1/2 A model that is missing the tapered pin for the swivel jaw. See post...

VISE REPAIR 101 all vise repairs, lubricants, sources for parts and the tricks to fix

Hey folks, Question regarding my Reed 403 1/2 A. Unfortunately it’s missing the tapered steel pin for the swivel jaw, and I was wondering if anyone knew of a source where I could find one, or anyone has made these on a lathe? Other than that, does anyone know original paint colors for these?

    10 ton floor jack

Definitely some art deco design going on there. I would guess '31 give or take?

I’m in need of a little advice here from anyone that has an original untouched Snap-on 1750. Thanks for any replies :)

Need some help painting Snap-On 1750 Vise

Hey folks, I’m in the middle of a new project, restoring a recently acquired Snap-On 1750 Vise. I’ve done a fair amount of research so far, and feel fairly confident in the restoration. However, since I’m a near fanatic on getting it right, I was wondering if anyone knew some small details...

Need help servicing Herbrand round head ratchet

Yep, thanks but as I already mentioned it’s soaking in oil. A thinned down ATF, but not acetone so I don’t have to worry about oil separation. Back on point since working it loose isn’t the issue I’m concerned with. Has anyone taken one of these completely apart?

Need help servicing Herbrand round head ratchet

I've recently acquired all of my fathers tools, some of which are in poor condition. In memory of my dad, I'd like to try to restore most of them. One of which is a Herbrand 42000 1/2 drive round head ratchet. I've gotten the clip off and the pawl mechanism removed. Unfortunately one of the...
