    Opinions of this DeWalt compressor

I have very old 5 HP single stage 60 Gal compressor that works but thinking of upgrading to a 2 stage. This seems like a good deal. Specs don't list the pump RPM tho. Might run to the local store and see if there is more info on the unit. What do you guys think? Anyone have one...

    Problems with Hydro Smart boiler

Welcome. First guess would be trapped air. Give us some more details and maybe a picture. How long has it been in service and has it done that the whole time?

New Shop build floor heat questions

Sounds like a lack of communication at the city. What happened to this guy----->> "he said its a garage they don't really care about insulation and heat for them". Are you sure the "sb12 rules" apply to non living space? "The Man" is taking all the joy out of......Well, everything. :lol_hitti

    Leaking fitting?

No, It is the hot side of my radiant floor heat manifold. Not sure if I can easily replace that part. Got it online a few years ago. I just want to get it to seal. It only needs to hold about 15 psi.

    Leaking fitting?

I have had this threaded fitting apart at least three times. First time I used tape and the next couple times pipe dope. Is it OK to use something like RTV sealant on it or do I have to unsolder the adapter and solder on a new one? I have a tube of Permatex ultra gold I was going to try. I...

    In-floor heat

Scrap, I agree with jlckmj.....???? If you subtract 6.5 inches from both sides of a 24 foot wall you end up with a wall "about" 23 feet long. Actually exactly 22 feet 11 inches. You seem to be subtracting 6.5 feet from the 24 feet length. So then when you move in 2 feet on each end from the...

    Garage Door Top Seal

I think most use the same seal that is on the sides....I know mine does. Why would it have to be different?

Is there a Thread on Planning a radiant floor install?

I think about half of the threads in this section are about radiant. I don't think there is one that is specifically about planning, but all the info you would ever need is here somewhere. The most extensive one with a lot of pics is here...

    Opinions on heat pump

We have an American Standard (Trane) Heat pump that was installed about 9 years ago. It is great. I am not sure of the size, but it is a two stage with a variable speed air handler. The thermostat has an LED that is green when on the first stage and yellow on second stage and you can hear the...

    PEX tubing and slab joints

Chris, I don't recall exactly how they did it that day. I don't remember them using a tool first. As far as the straightness goes, there is not really a groove in the floor to draw your eye to. It is just a line where the plastic is and I don't pay much attention to it. My garage used a good bit...

    PEX tubing and slab joints

The concrete guy for my slab used "Zip-strips" where you would normally cut control joints. They are "T" shaped and go in while the concrete is wet and then they pull the top part off and it leaves a plastic strip in the concrete. No cracks anywhere in my slab yet. It was poured in 09 I think...

Which of these two electric heaters?

I have a version of the second one. It has cheap push on spade connectors inside where the wires go onto the heating element. One must have been loose and started arcing and burnt the end off. I had to take it apart and put a new wire and connector in it. The end of the element had enough metal...

    Heat at last

Great info. People might be interested to know the cost and source of each component. Please keep us updated on the cost to run it each month as the weather gets warmer. Also there is a thread for pics and details of these systems that you might want to post it in(or at least a link to this...

Can someone school me on how to fix this leaky faucet?

I recently had a couple problems with some 5 or 6 year old Delta faucets. Still had the paperwork for them thanks to my wife's awesome filing system. Called up the 800 number and they sent every part I needed for free. Mine was a single handle faucet so I just needed springs and rubber washers...
