    Suggestions to heat covered patio

Radiant tube infrared heater. I installed on in my shop and it is fantastic. It's the same type of heater you'll find in the outdoor areas of restaurants. Mike

How close does your car get to your gas heater when on your hoist?

I have a radiant tube heater and a lift. I installed the heater to the side of the lift not above it. The manufacturer will have the minimum distances to objects.

Any suggestions for workshop builder in north metro ATL?

Jawn, I'm in Hickory Flat and built my shop a few years ago. I've got a build thread on here. You can probably be your own general contractor. It's a lot of phone calls and leg work but I think it's doable. Get with me if you want, Also, PWhittle we're really close, I'm off Sugar Pike. Mike

    Ceiling Material for uninsulated roof?

Any recommendations on where to get corrugated metal in white down south? Google is your friend for that, typically the corrugated is not painted, it's the silver/grey color of the zinc. If you want white you may have to use the "4 vee" or "5 vee" roofing. IIRC the corrugated I used was a the...

    Ceiling Material for uninsulated roof?

You will regret not insulating the roof, if money is an issue insulate the roof and do the ceiling later. To actually answer your question I used the corrugated tin and have been happy. It was inexpensive, easy to install, you don't have to paint it . . . ever. When i did mine several years...

Limited to 986sq feet! Which floor plan?

You may have done this already but be sure to read your local zoning regulations carefully. When I obtained the building permit for my shop build I was shocked to learn that I could only build a 900 square foot GARAGE . . . . but because of my zoning I could build an AGRICULTURAL OUTBUILDING as...

    Buying metal roofing.

I bought mine at Back Home Metal Roofing in Grayson, Ga. That's NE of Atlanta. There is probably a similar place closer to you. https://www.facebook.com/BackHomeMetalRoofing The advantage of buying from them over HD is you give them your measurements and it's all cut to length. You're not...

Direct lift vs greg smith atlas

I bought a PV10000 (I think) from Greg Smith a couple of years ago. While installing it I realized the threaded hole in the cylinder for the hydraulics had a bad thread and you couldn't screw in the fitting. I called the salesman, he said I see you're at least an hour away, I'll ship a new one...

Ideas for a "hot rod" style garage!

Check the zoning carefully. I was limited to 900 SF for a "garage", but an "agricultural outbuilding" was unlimited as long as I fit inside the setback of the lot. I love my agricultural outbuilding. Also look at whats needed for a waiver. Maybe a certain style of garage will satisfy them...

    My New Garage Build

Wow! I've fallen behind on posting on my own build thread. First thanks for the complements and questions, it still amazes me that this thread keeps going. "Mike... Great shop/ barn/ play area.... I work at Lockheed in Ft. Worth in the F35 Flight Test group... good to have you on the program...

Anyone use Galvanized tin on shop ceiling

Check out my build thread. I used corrogated tin. It's fairly lightweight, reflects light very well and you can buy it cut to length which really speeds up the install. I've got some details in there on how I trimmed out the ends and edges. Also it'll never need painting. It's as close to...
