Yup, they are. Including if you goof installing them.

Buying mountain property, questions to ask?

Go to the planning dept, if there is one and make sure you can build. I have a small lot in a forested area and you need at least and acre for any structure. Mine is on a hill and will probably need an engineered foundation going down deep or to base rock.

Above 1200 Sq/FT building my BIG PARTY garage

Wow Don! I just love your Party garage and all the projects. You hit home runs on all of them. I too enjoy bringing back old projects and love gas station memorabilia and NEON! I don't have the time, space or funds to do the cool restorations you are ,but I'm enjoying living vicariously through...

    Blinds for Arched Windows?

They sell "fans" made of the same material as the blinds. SPend a little more money and more time doing your research and you'll find them. I had some in a nice little rental I had a while back.

    Heat pump

I live in Central California where the temperature ranges from 30F to 115F. My home is two story and the main AC/Heater unit is a remote style that's at least 20 years old. The upstairs unit has had the capacitors replaced several times and I think my service company is just patching a fault...

You lay it down and kneel on it while working, keeps your knees clean. Those darn Germans think of everything!

    Security Camera Recommendations

I use Lorex cameras from Costco. I've had several systems and recommend the Cat5 systems as the resolution is vastly superior to the old systems. I would also recommend a ring in a spot front and center if you anticipate any problems. A ring is $100 plus $3.00 a month for cloud hosting. It'll...

    Tap and die storage

I keep mine in the plastic boxes. I keep the taps and dies of the same size in the same compartment. It doesn't look as neat and clean as you set up, but mine get plenty of use.

AA and AAA batteries that won’t self destruct?

I've had Duracells leak on me twice, both times I got a check in the mail after calling them. The last time the batteries were several years expired (look closely and they have a date code). Ever since I take the batteries out of things that don't get used regularly. The rechargeable sound like...

Scissor Lift....pull over or back over?

It doesn't matter, but sissors lifts will move forward or backward as they go up so you'll want to take that in consideration set it up up accordingly. Another consideration is that sometimes if you're working under the car, like on an oil change, you may have better access in one direction or...

Solar Swimming Pool Heat DIY with Hubitat / Webcore Automation

Excellent write up! Thanks for taking the time to do such a thorough job. I have an above ground pool that came with a small attached (Bestway) solar heater. The fittings and hoses are garbage, but your info on the replacement fittings are helpful. You've also got a bunch of info here I can use...

    Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT ZMotorsports Home and 50x60x16 Shop/RV Garage

Mike, I've enjoyed your thread. First off, I think the problem you had with your GC is two fold. 1) While he seems better than most GC's, he thought this was "just going to be a shop" and easy money. 2) He didn't realize that some of us actually pay attention and don't just accept whatever the...

    clogged toilet

I use the ********* plunger from Home Depot. Make sure the water level is covering the plunger or you're just pushing air. Our customers constantly plug our toilet, this works well. Worst case scenario is you need a toilet auger or to remove the toilet. I've found brushes and pens in there. They...
