    What tool do I need?

Is this for lighting suppression or is it one side of a direct to earth radiator?

    What tool do I need?

Whats the application? 50’ of 11mm wide 1.4mm thick flat strap will just turn into more metal to vaporise in most lightning contact events. I have a significant amount of experience building lightning suppression in an RF environment, if you can reveal the application I may be able provide...

    $5 Traffic light Controller

I did my apprenticeship at a traffic signal repair work shop, we used to get foreign order requests all the time for drivers for the old signals that got sold off at the departments salvage yard. If you are just making them sequence like real traffic lights, forget the $5 challenge, let’s see...

Materials for a mechanics workbench top

The 1.8 stainless is going to be expensive overkill. It’s just an easy to clean veneer, 1mm is resistant enough to dents and way cheaper. I would also consider using two layers of 16 or 18mm form ply over the MDF. The MDF will take on water from the atmosphere and swell over time. Formply is...

    suggestion for new crimpers please

I use a Pressmaster at work and a Crescent CCT10 at home, although I’m finding I’m going away from insulated lugs in favour of Deutsch connectors for a lot of stuff.

    Bookstore score.

The books are cool, the paperwork from the space and missile division just makes it sub zero.

    The Machine Work Thread

That length of bar got turned into M10 (stud size) and M8 for setscrew clamps, I’ve also roughed out another length but haven’t dimensioned it yet. I’ve not seen those rotational types before, that second bar might get turned into some of those. Thanks for the info and link, much appreciated.

    The Machine Work Thread

So while you guys were building thread cutting heads from scratch I turned a piece of rusty shaft into some T nuts for my new to me Rong Fu dovetail (something of a step up from from its round column predecessor). Some days it’s the simple things.. like not losing index when you raise or lower...

Above 1200 Sq/FT The Salvage Garage

I want to see the compressor and drier set up that was attached to that dehydrator manifold, that is seriously bad boy!

    Sheetmetal Equipment restoration/preservation/maintenance

Nice collection of tooling you have there. My larger stuff is Edwards, made in England. I have some rusted fingers on my folder also, my plan was to bead blast them, wet/dry them with light oil to remove the blast marks and then cover them in gun blue. Not sure why, but on things like that...

Looking for some advice on broadcasting a digital radio signal over a CCTV system

So if I’m understanding this correctly, you have a PC accessible to inmates connected to your CCTV/PA system? If that is the case that seems like a bad idea to me.

Looking for some advice on broadcasting a digital radio signal over a CCTV system

Stream the radio via the PC you have connected now is the simplest answer. What you have is CCTV overlaid with a broadcast PA system. I suggest you hit them up for training on it if they expect you to maintain it.

    metal gauge for welding cart?

Tight fitting joints, some practice on the offcuts and 023 wire will see you right. 16G is no more difficult to weld than 1/8 once you have the machine dialed in and your groove on.

Favorite not exactly a screwdriver, screwdriver?

I just put a hex to square adapter in my ratchet screwdriver, way better than anything I’ve seen in a socket set to do the same job.
