Made in the USA, made me sad

I don't have any experience with current Williams sockets, but I can say with 100% certainty that Amazon has been flooded with counterfeit items. I've had a couple bad experiences with fakes that I've become just as skeptical of Amazon as I am eBay And in my experience, eBay is far more...

Any Deals At The Pawnshop Lately?

I'm a pawn shop junky. Most shops know me by name. As a result, a few of them have started giving me some crazy good deals, and even holding things of interest until I come around to check them out. That being said, most pawn shops make their money on loans + interest, not on reselling goods...

Best grease to use on puller threads

A grease with high molybdenum. Clean the threads thoroughly, grease, and keep debris from contaminating. Grease with a high moly content is designed for high pressure, high friction points of contact. Personally, I use and sell cenex lubes and fuels and I use their HD Molybdenum extreme. It's...

    Thin Kerf For Miter Saw

Can't speak for 12" but I'm running a Diablo thin kerf in 10" on my miter and table saws and probably won't go back to anything else. Performance has exceeded expectations (first thin kerf blades).

    Tekton ratcheting box wrench set

IMO, the 6pt end is a moot point. I've damaged too many ratcheting wrenches by getting to aggressive on stubborn fasteners. And I hate being down and out waiting for a replacement. So I bust em loose with a wrench or breaker then use my gearwrench. I know that's not always an option, but the...

    Tekton Ratcheting Wrenches

I'd imagine supply chain is an issue. But let's also not forget their January advertising tactic--announcing a price increase active as of Feb 1. They truly did get flooded with orders as a result of this. In fact, many of the items I planned to order went out of stock. Some stated 6+ weeks...

    "Portable" 3-drawer toolbox options

Every time I attempt to search the forum, I get inundated with hits for rolling tool chests and carts so I hope this hasn't been discussed. I'm looking for a portable style metal, locking toolbox with 3 or 4 drawers and a flip open lid. This will be a backup tool set that I keep at our family...

Does price match quality in air compressors ?

Definitely living in the past. I priced similar units two years ago, and then again a few weeks ago (as I've finally got power and a compressor shed built) and the exact same makes and models are a few hundred + more, now. And apparently the good ones are hard to find in stock, too 😤 It's...

Good vise for a reasonable price under $150?

Add $20 The Capri forged steel 4" is the answer. Nearly identical to the yost fsv 4 but much cheaper at $169

Broken Vise? IRWIN 4 1/2" small table Vise and a Vise noob

I'd move on. Find a better vise, one without an exposed screw. The best vise going for under $200 in my opinion, is the Capri forged 4". It's got a massive clamping force for the size (probably 2x what your Irwin can do, if not more). It looks surprisingly similar to the Yost fsv-4, which sells...

Best brand each type of tool

I guess you've never used Wera's HexPlus 🤣 Yes, we can disagree. I see this thread becoming a never ending game of one-upmanship. Especially as manufacturers continue to update and innovate their product lines.

Looking for a nice screw driver set

FYI, If anyone is still interested they're $26.50 at lowes online. Less if you have a lowes card.

What do I really need? Looking to “upgrade” possibly.

Not the rust belt. PNW I have all 6pt sockets, and some 6pt combination wrenches as well... Butnif you're in the rust belt and using ratcheting wrenches to bsuts tuff loose you're probably busting a few gear wrenches too...

What do I really need? Looking to “upgrade” possibly.

I don't have much insight, except just to buy what you need when you need it... or replace what aggravates you the most when you find a good deal. Newer fine tooth ratchets are pretty good across the board. The 90 tooth ratchets available from just about everyone are pretty nice. A decent...

    20% off Westling Machine

Yep. I paid $100 two years ago, and it came with extra universal trays and free shipping. Alas, the price of matetials and labor in our current state is catching up everywhere.

What price for Craftsman air compressor?

That exact compressor is on offerup local to me. Ad shows listed 2 months ago for $150, now reduced to $100. Not quite as clean, but it appears to have been well stored. Problem is there's about 50 other 10-15gal compressors littering offerup and Craigslist as well. A guy has his pick for...

    Quiet Compressor for wood shop?

The MAC 700 is a sweet little compressor, and has a reputation for long life.. But 80 decibels is SIGNIFICANTLY louder than 60 decibels. If you think 80 is still "quiet compared to a pancake" you might want to double check your numbers. My bostitch pancake is rated at 78.5db. Even the harbor...

Finally installed a router table in the end of my Delta 12/14 table saw.

Oh man. You're going to like that setup. I did something similar with the wing to my table saw (albeit not as nice) and I've found my router get 2x as much use. And more importantly, I can leave one setup exactly for one chore and the second for another. Things get done so much faster. I...

HF US General Boxes, Are They Worth It?

I've got two harbor freight /USG 44's. one with a side box attached. No, I don't use them professionally, but they are very much FULL and get used frequently. My only complaints are that each 44" box only has one full width drawer, and I wish each of th shallower drawers was 1/2" deeper...

Pliers Wrenches” vs. Water Pump Pliers

Good call. The smallest pair of pliers wrench makes there way into a lot of guys EDC kit (every day carry). There are several people making custom leather belt holsters for the mini pliers wrench. Small tool with HUGE ability. A must have IMO. My most used seems to be the 7 1/4 size.
