    several outlets go dead occasionally

What would cause several outlets go dead once in a while? I have two rooms that the power goes out for hours or sometimes days at a time, ceiling light and fans still work. I have replaced the outlets in both rooms but it hasn't helped. The breaker doesn't trip. After a while we just check and...

    Wow, I love this ratchet

I just got this new Armstrong 1/4 drive ratchet, I love this thing. This is 100 times better than the old Craftsman ratchet that I have been using for the last 35 years. I have mostly Craftsman tools and really never had many complaints about them but there is a huge difference in these...

Whats wrong with box store epoxy floor coatings?

I'm going to coat the floor of my house garage. I don't park in here, just bicycles and storage. What is wrong with using the epoxy floor coating from Home Depot? It is Rustoleum brand and seems like decent stuff. I'm not really trying to be cheap but if it is good enough I cant see spending...

Does anyone know this brake tool??

Does anyone know anything about this caliper spreader. It looks like it has everything needed for most jobs, I don't know who makes it but I'm sure its Chicom. Looking for a set to use at home a few times a year, tired of the rentals from AutoZone, I'd rather have my...

What do you call those screwy ratchets with a crank?

What do you call those ratchets that have a crank handle on the end? Kind of like a right angle that you turn the crank to turn the socket. I don't know what they are called but I had occasion to use one the other day and it worked where I couldn't get anything else to work. A guy I know had one...

    Northern Tool vs Craftsman

I have a set of Craftsman stubby SAE combination wrenches, the set only goes up to 5/8, today I went to Northern to get an 11/16 and 3/4 to complete the set, these are KLUTCH branded, they look EXACTLY like the Craftsmans except the name. Turn them over and you cant tell them apart. I was very...

    Can someone explain "lobster claw"

I've seen several comments on here about "lobster claw" wrenches, mostly about Craftsman I think. What exactly does that mean? They aren't any good? Are all Craftsman wrenches this way? Thanks Guess I'm not in the loop.

Bearing separator? Where to buy one

I need another 4"-5" bearing separator. I cant afford Snap On for the occasional rear end rebuild here at home. Any body tried HF or another China brand. The one I have now is Chinese and one of the long threaded rods stripped. Amazon has one for $60 but I don't know where its made.

Are Snap on screw drivers that much better?

I have a lot of Craftsman screw drivers but I'm not really happy with a lot of them. Are Snap on screw drivers that much better for a home shop? I really do a lot of mechanical work restoring old cars for myself and some for other people. Do they justify the price??

    My favorite hammer

I made this in high school shop class 40 years ago. I dont use it a lot but it is functional. The little hole drilled in the side of the head shows that it was graded by the teacher. I also made an aluminum meat tenderizer mallet that my wife still uses.
